Implementation of green communication in the city of Surabaya to build a clean and sustainable environment
The city of Surabaya in the East Java region, as the second largest city in Indonesia, has a population of around 4 million people in 2023, is one of the cleanest cities in Indonesia and even won the ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable City (ESC) award in the Cleanest Big City Air category according to the criteria clean air, clean land, and clean water. In achieving this achievement, the Surabaya city government has provided education to the people of the city of Surabaya to behave in a way that cares for a healthier and more sustainable environment, including through the arrangement of green open spaces which reached 21.99% (exceeding the Indonesian national performance index of 20%) or an area of 7,357.96 hectares (ha) of the Surabaya city area of 33,451 ha, this green space is capable of absorbing 642,794.59 tonnes/year of CO2 gas. Apart from that, the Surabaya government also carries out emission tests in different places on non-electric motorized vehicles 4 times a month in different places and urges the public to use comfortable public transportation in the form of Suroboyo buses for routes in the city and Wira Wiri micro buses for routes through village. So it has an impact on the quality of the city of Surabaya with an AQI (Air Quality Index) index of 90.31 (medium). Apart from that, the city of Surabaya has a website that displays the air quality in the city of Surabaya in real-time, which is equipped with instructions for Surabaya residents to use personal protective equipment and avoid areas with poor air quality
Assessing quality of life in German, French, Italian and Polish smart cities: Identifying the need for further development
The concept of smart cities has gained significant attention in recent years, as urban areas worldwide seek to leverage technology and innovation to enhance their residents\u27 quality of life. It is agreed that one of the core objectives of the smart cities is the optimisation of quality of life and resident satisfaction. This research endeavours to explore the relationship between smart city rankings and quality of life in four European countries: Germany, France, Italy, and Poland. In doing so, we encountered a multitude of complexities and nuances. While the concept of smart cities holds great promise for urban development and enhancing residents\u27 well-being, the current methodologies for comparing smart cities and assessing quality of life require refinement and standardization. Addressing these challenges will not only advance our understanding of the impact of smart city initiatives but also pave the way for more effective urban planning and policy decisions to improve the overall quality of life in urban areas
Accompanying study of the development process towards a smart city strategy-with a particular focus on social change
The development of a smart city strategy will take place in 73 selected cities in Germany as the result of a participation competition. The systematics of the requirements of the state as a funding provider and the approach of local actors will be examined in more detail in this study. The Objectives of the work are a supervised process of a model facility, on the basis of which observations for a process model are to be derived. This model is intended to enable various aspects as a starting point for non-subsidized institutions as well. A particular focus lies on the area of social change, which is difficult to quantify, in terms of social aspects. The Prior work shows that there are three different dimensions of strategy elements to be decided on in order to start subsidy-compliant design projects. On one hand, a team must be required that takes care of the smart city projects next to their regular tasks. Their composition and purpose in doing represent the first dimension. Secondly, the question of setting targets and the associated monitoring of results must be determined. Finally, the path of involving citizens and companies lead to the social legitimacy of the project team. The approach is based on a semi-structured participant observation by the authors. Qualitative insights into practical doing and abstracted findings based on an example case serve as practical recommendations for further and thus complementary consolidation and expansion of the findings. The first Results show that defining key performance indicators and objective key results is quite a new system of performance measurement for public institutions. In particular, the social aspects of living together in cities are difficult to put into key figures due to the diverse composition of society. Local differences with incentives and channels in different forms need to be translated into general insights. The Implications include enabling government leaders to initiate and manage transformative approaches to the digitization of public space. Social change as a field of action for the design of digital solutions will be opened up and brought closer by means of best-practice implementations. The value of the work lies in getting an example of steps towards a planning basis for comprehensive smart city agendas. Furthermore, management tools for digital projects are addressed and methods for the participation of service recipients of public authorities are presented. Through the classified experiences of the prime example, challenges, opportunities, risks but also weaknesses of the path to a smart city emerge, which can be a point of orientation for non-subsidized cities in their own roadmap
Access to the European cultural heritage of settlements and towns in the Danube macro-region through interoperable strategies digital transformation
Tangible cultural heritage is a strategic resource for the development of rural and urban settlements. Cooperation with stakeholders from EU countries and regions within the Danube macro-region, such as cultural heritage institutions and competent authorities, allows to agree on the preparation and adaptation of compatible digital innovation strategies in local initiative groups in the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, as well as on impact mapping through a set of pan-European socio-economic indicators. Objectives of the study: to analyse the available European best practices and methodology for adaptation in the integration of the regions of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine in the interregional innovation partnership on the smart specialisation "Cultural and Creative Regional Ecosystems" (CCRE-S3) [1]. The overall horizontal objective of the integration into the platform should be to add value to the common characteristics of the cultural and creative sector and to create a permanent discovery mechanism that will carry out activities to identify strategic investments and the use of innovation transfer tools. Previous works: previous concept, research and experience are described in the articles [2] and [3]. Approach: European benchmarking, comparative analysis, bibliographic research. Outcome: recommendations aimed at stimulating new ideas and opportunities related to cultural and creative experiences for local communities and residents by involving several groups of professions that use, apply and implement new technologies in the cultural and creative industries sector. The European Programmes provide resources to support their implementation. In this way, the Danube Strategy participating States [4], by supporting partnerships between the cultural heritage sector and other sectors such as higher education and vocational education and training, creative industries and sustainable cultural tourism, will be able to stimulate innovation for new services and applications in their regions

The education system, the way to fight fake news
To form broad and sound opinions on various issues, we must be able to access a large amount of information, including online. However, given the increasing prevalence of fake news and disinformation, the information received must be reliable and verifiable. Recognizing questionable or malicious content can be very challenging in today\u27s interconnected world, especially for youngsters. For these reasons, sociologists and teaching staff have voiced the need for policymakers to combat the spread of this phenomenon among youngsters and so, they came together in testing and, later on, in gradually introducing, in the education system, lectures the phenomenon of fake news and disinformation. Lectures increasingly incorporate debunking and digital literacy and are mostly focused on raising awareness of the dangers generated by fake news and disinformation among pupils and students and on learning various techniques for identifying and thus stopping the spread of this type of malicious information. The present article maps the real and potential impact of fake news and disinformation among pupils and students and their healthy mental and social evolution. Therefore, it highlights some recommendations meant to prevent the spread of this phenomenon from the early stages of the individual\u27s evolution, respectively starting in the classroom. The key message of the article could be considered that education is an effective weapon to combat fake news and disinformation
A Romanian at the epicenter of controversy: the Guccifer case and its general impacts and destabilization of the American political scene
In the digitalization era, the Guccifer case, involving Romanian hacker Marcel Lehel Lăzăreanu, has become emblematic of information sabotage. Operating under the pseudonym Guccifer, Lăzăreanu executed a series of high-profile cyber-attacks, targeting prominent organizations and political figures. His most infamous act involved hacking the email accounts of influential U.S. political figures and releasing compromising information on online platforms. These actions triggered widespread public confusion and unrest, significantly impacting the political landscape. By exposing confidential and sensitive information, Guccifer fueled speculation and controversy around various political candidates and organizations, thereby destabilizing the democratic process. The Guccifer case is a classic example of information sabotage, not only due to the exposure of secret information but also due to its strategic manipulation to influence public opinion and erode trust in democratic institutions. Guccifer\u27s selective leaking and distribution of information allowed him to craft narratives that damaged the reputations of targeted politicians, fostering an atmosphere of uncertainty and distrust in the electoral system. This case has raised urgent questions about information security and integrity in the digital age. It underscored the fragility of modern political paradigms and demonstrated that threats to democracy can originate from the virtual realm. A single individual, equipped with technology and expertise, can cause significant damage, particularly in the realm of information sabotage. The Guccifer case thus serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities inherent in our digital infrastructure and the critical importance of robust information security measures to protect democratic processes
Architecture and Psychology – A Study of the Connection of Architectural Image with Urban Environment Perception
The study inquires to what extent certain images of urban architecture can evoke attraction or repulsion, functional framing or engaging individuals, in relation to certain elements (vertical, horizontal, materials, style). An aim parallel but very important is to demonstrate a behavioral influence generated by architecture, assessing the awareness of behavioral influence through architecture.
We measured attachment and decision to visit architectural works, and tested the perception of concepts of architecture, manipulation, atmosphere removed from any practical context, through questions related to photographs and through questions related to concepts, the result being not only a percentage measurement of the impact of certain architectural elements (verticals, columns, horizontals, glass, gates) but also a vast array of words connected with a certain concept.
We proposed images of buildings such as the gate of the agora in Miletus, the Greek temple, the winning project in the RIBA competition for Iraqi Parliament, the National Museum of Romania, Casa Radio in Bucharest, CCTV in Beijing, or the Battersea power station, the London pumping station, Steven Hall\u27s horizontal skyscraper, selected for particular functions, or particular design features.
The questionnaire was carried out after careful study of the literature, especially that related to visual culture, persuasion, totalitarianism and psychology of sustainability – that must involve transdisciplinary studies looking at the links between humans, power and the built environment, as well as aim to create well-being through architecture. The found association of architecture with actions of force is interesting, as well as that architecture becomes independent of place and creator, being a mark for the power of a culture. Respondents are in majority in favor of the importance of architecture in everyday life, although not assimilated with manipulative intentions, so we conclude that architectural producers (both designers and funders) have succeeded in creating an outstanding force within the visual culture. Architecture is seen as a collective creation rather than an authorial one and respondents do not correctly intuit the impact that the financial, technological and the niche specialization of architects and structural engineers has on architectural visual culture. Obstructing the correct understanding of architectural also makes its influence more effective where it is present
