    Impacts of business information systems application to production and business management in the Serbian wood industry companies

    The research subject in this paper is Business Information Systems (BIS) used in wood industry companies of the Republic of Serbia. The main objective of this paper is to research the impact of BIS application in various production and business management processes in wood industry companies of the Republic of Serbia. An additional objective is to determine production and business management processes that are the most improved by BIS application in the companies where the research was conducted. This paper aims to imply to these companies the advantages of BIS application in production and business management, as well as the business improvement that can be achieved by their application. The research was conducted on a sample of the 100 largest companies in the wood industry of the Republic of Serbia, according to the criterion business income in the year 2016. The research results show that BIS application in wood industry companies has the most significant positive impact on the inventory management process. Of the total number of surveyed companies, the most significant number of companies considers that the BIS application has a large positive impact on this management process. Also, many companies consider that the implementation of BIS has an enormously positive impact on the financial management process. Increasing the efficiency of the inventory and financial management process contributes in reducing the number of days of working capital in the stock of reproductive material, reducing the level of debts, as well as increasing liquidity and efficiency of capital management

    Logical clustering approach for analysing digital economy and society performance of countries

    Digitization, digitalization and digital transformation represent one of the primary incentives of today's development. To successfully implement these changes, countries need to create smart digital policies which are evidence- and data-based. The study presented in this paper uses the logical clustering approach for grouping countries according to five dimensions of the Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI). Logical clustering employs Interpolative Boolean Algebra (IBA) as a consistent fuzzy approach, which means that all Boolean axioms are fulfilled. To measure proximity among countries, logical clustering uses IBA-based exclusive disjunction and logical aggregation. The general aim is to provide help in identifying directions for defining smart digital policies for achieving digital competitiveness of nations, based on the analysis of similarities among countries. The results indicate that logical clustering enables more comprehensive differentiation between clusters than the original composite index methodology does, and determination of the primary areas of action in clusters, among similar countries. Some interesting cases where logical clustering results differ from the original methodology are discussed

    PREKARIZACIJA RADA I PREKARIJAT KAO POSLEDICE SAVREMENOG RAZVOJA

    U ovom radu se polazi od teze da savremeni period obeležavaju rapidni naučno-tehnološki razvoj, enorman populacioni rast i uspon neoliberalizma. Ovi globalni procesi rezultiraju promenama u klasno-socijalnoj strukturi, strukturi rada i, posledično, uvećavanjem društvenih nejednakosti. Kad je reč o strukturi zaposlenosti, prirodne posledice ovih procesa su porast nezaposlenosti, fleksibilizacija i prekarizacija rada i pojava i omasovljavanja prekarijata kao nove društvene grupe. Burdije je prvi ukazao na praktični i teorijski značaj prekarijata mada je Stending najuticajniji autor koji je oko ove teme napravio najozbiljniju studiju oko koje se razvila živa polemika. On ga određuje kao „opasnu“ klasu, a kao glavnu odrednicu mu daje nedostatak sigurnosti vezane za rad i identiteta zasnovanog na radu. Danas prekarni rad izlazi iz okvira tipičnog rada a granica između zaposlenosti i nezaposlenosti potaje sve tanja i ponekad teško prepoznatljiva. Rezultat toga je opšta nesigurnost. Prekarijat čine svi oni koji nemaju redovan posao i redovna primanja: radnici na određeno vreme, na privremenim i povremenim poslovima, zaposleni po ugovoru, na projektima, sa skraćenim radnim vremenom, sezonski radnici u poljoprivredi i slični. Iz ovog se vidi da je prekarijat socijalno heterogena grupacija te da ne može biti smatran klasom. Njega čini široki raspon: od sezonskih radnika u poljoprivredi do tzv. Akademskog prekarijata – vrhunskih stručnjaka angažovanih na projektima. Problem je u tome što prekarni radnici najčešće trpe intenzivan rad za relativno nisku zaradu. Već sada je prekarijat postao masovna pojava sa tendencijom da u doglednoj budućnosti nastavi da se širi. To će, potencijalno, stvarati nove, globalne, socijalne probleme za koje je potrebno tražiti globalna rešenja

    Cilj istraživanja u ovom radu podrazumeva sticanje uvida u način na koji se marketinška komunikacija izmenila pod uticajem digitalne transformacije i upotrebe društvenih medija. Savremene strategije marketinške komunikacije posmatrane su u kontekstu pojave tehnoloških inovacija kao i demografskih trendova koji su postavili generaciju Y u centar interesa marketinških teoretičara i praktičara. U tom smislu, ovaj rad istražuje ulogu i značaj dominantnih korisnika društvenih medija, influensera, u kreiranju savremene marketinške komunikacije. Uzimajući u obzir činjenicu da današnje potrošače karakteriše visok stepen digitalne sofisticiranosti, istraživanje u ovom radu usmereno je ka rastu značaja društvenih medija kao glavnih izvora sticanja i deljenja informacija. U ovom radu prezentovani su rezultati empirijskog istraživanja koje je za cilj imalo sticanje uvida u stavove generacije Y u Srbiji u pogledu influenser marketinga. Doprinos ovog rada ogleda se u kritičkoj analizi prikupljenih podataka, čime se povećava korpus znanja iz ove oblasti.The aim of the research presented in this paper is to provide insights into marketing communication changes induced by digital transformation and social media use. Contemporary marketing communication strategies are observed in the context of dominant information sources shift, as well as demographic trends that have placed Generation Yin marketing theorists' and practitioners' focus of interest. This paper examines the role and significance of prominent social media users - influencers in creating contemporary marketing communication. Considering the fact that modern customers are characterized by a high degree of digital sophistication, the research in this paper focused on the prominence of social media as main sources of information sharing. This paper presents the results of an empirical research which aim was to examine the attitudes of Generation Y members in Serbia regarding influencer marketing. The contribution of this paper is reflected in the critical analysis of obtained results, thus increasing the corpus of relevant knowledge

    Digital transformation and economic cooperation: The case of Western Balkan countries

    Digital transformation is increasingly affecting many aspects of the world economy. It is boosting economic growth, has an impact on foreign direct investments and increases international trade. Hence, the aim of the paper is to analyse digital transformation in relation with the economic cooperation between Western Balkan economies. In order to do so, we construct two indicators: the harmonised index of economic cooperation among Western Balkan economies and the indicator of digital transformation convergence. The results indicate a rising trend of economic cooperation amongst Western Balkan countries, with cooperation dominated by foreign trade. Even though Western Balkan countries have experienced an increased digital transformation convergence, they are still lagging behind the EU in the use of digital technologies. Hence, placing more emphasis on digital transformation could potentially boost the region's GDP and thus economic cooperation among them

    Identifying microservices using structured system analysis

    In this article it will be presented how to identify microservices using structured system analysis. Structured system analysis describes all the system functions, data stores and algorithms of the functions. When all of the functions of the system are described, they can be grouped into microservices. These microservices should be loosely coupled and highly cohesive. Rules for grouping microservices will be presented. It will be shown not only how to declare functions as microservices but also how to decompose data stores, thus these microservices share-as-little-as-possible by having separate databases

    A Recommender System With IBA Similarity Measure

    Recommender systems help users to reduce the amount of time they spend to find the items they are interested in. One of the most successful approaches is collaborative filtering. The main feature of a recommender system is its ability to predict user’s interests by analyzing the behavior of this particular user and/or the behavior of other similar users to generate personalized recommendations. Identification of neighbor users who have had similar taste to the target user in the past is a crucial process for successful application of collaborative filtering. In this paper, we proposed a collaborative filtering method that uses interpolative Boolean algebra for calculation of similarity between users. In order to analyze the effectiveness of the proposed approach we used three common datasets: MovieLens 100K, MovieLens 1M, and CiaoDVD. We compared a collaborative filtering based on IBA similarity measure with two standard similarity measures: Pearson correlation and cosine-based coefficient. Even though statistical measures are traditionally used in recommender systems, proposed logic-based approach showed promising results on the tested datasets. A recommender system with IBA similarity measure outperformed the others in most cases

    Determining the Set of the Most Critical System Components—Optimization Approach

    The aim of this paper is to propose a new approach for determining the set of the most critical system components. Importance measures, commonly used for this purpose, first rank each individual component and afterward form a set of the most critical components due to their ranking. In this paper, we propose a new approach based on optimization so the whole set of the most critical components could be determined simultaneously. By taking into account interdependence of components, sets of the most critical system components with different cardinalities does not have to share any of the components. The proposed approach uses optimization over minimal cut sets of the observed system. The greater the number of minimal cut sets in which a component appears, the greater is its importance. The problem of determination of the minimal number of components which appear in all minimal cut sets is considered and formulated as set covering problem. The optimization problem is solved using available optimization software and original heuristic algorithm. Experiments were performed on a group of benchmark fault trees, and the results are compared with the results obtained by commonly used importance measures

    How does the intangible asset affect company efficiency? Evidence from the listed companies in Serbia's meat industry

    With an intangible asset becoming the most valuable part of nowadays businesses, there is an unanswered question - how much does the human capital as part of the intangible assets affect the efficiency of the meat industry in the Republic of Serbia? By analyzing the top 45 Serbian meat companies during the 5-year period (2013-2017), the authors used the DEA method to measure the efficiency of the representative companies and compare it to the HCVA index. The results indicate that the companies with a greater level of using human capital had higher efficiency indicators. By analyzing the literature, it was shown that there is a lack of research in this field. From the originality point, this is the first paper that examines the impact of human capital on the financial performance of the Serbian meat industry
