    A quest for methodologically robust composite index development: A case study for the evaluation of global citizens' wellbeing and liveability

    The methodological issues encompassing the composite index development and evaluation have been a long-standing point of confronting ideas. In particular, the topics of indicators' selection, weighting scheme, substitutability, etc., have triggered numerous researchers in a quest for a methodologically robust composite index. The benefits of the composite index have consistently overshadowed the range of methodological inconsistencies; however, the continuous efforts have been pushed forward to minimise the effect of a methodological framework on the applicability of the obtained results and the potential to communicate it to a broader audience. As a potential remedy to the challenges mentioned above, we advocate the novel approaches in a taxonomy-based decision support system. More to the point, by applying the proposed approach, decision-makers are able to enhance the quality of decisions and consequently establish recommendations for sound policies. We evaluated the Cities of The Future Index (CFI), introduced by the EasyPark group as a case study. Furthermore, particular emphasis was given to the potential for improving the CFI

    The Relevance of Soft Skills for Entrepreneurs

    This study explores the relevance of different soft skills for entrepreneurs, focusing on entrepreneurs from Portugal and Serbia. The study identifies a total of 38 soft skills titative methodology in the analysis of data collected from a questionnaire completed by entrepreneurs from these two countries. The findings reveal that soft skills competencies play a key role in the entrepreneur's activity, highlighting emotional intelligence, resilience, and persistence as fundamental attributes that an entrepreneur should possess. Furthermore, the respondents' answers have revealed notable differences in their perception of the importance of a majority of soft skills (27 out of 38 skills), which indicates that an entrepreneur's geographic area is a relevant factor in the perception of the relative importance of soft skills

    U radu se daje pregled socijalnih i monetarnih doznaka dijaspore i njihovih društvenih i ekonomskih uticaja. Pošto migracija nikada nije samo "odliv mišićne mase (odliv radne snage) već uvek u određenoj meri i "odliv mozgova", studija analizira moguće efekte međunarodne migracije visokokvalifikovane radne snage. Osim toga, sumirani su i analizirani prednosti i nedostaci priliva novčanih doznaka. Kao zemlja s velikom dijasporom u odnosu na ukupnu populaciju nacije, Srbija predstavlja bogatu studiju slučaja za proučavanje društvenih i ekonomskih uticaja socijalnih i monetarnih doznaka dijaspore.The paper provides an overview of both social and monetary diaspora remittances and their societal and economic impacts. Since migration is never a sole "muscle drain" (labor power drain), but always to a certain extent a "brain drain", the study analyzes possible effects of high-skilled international migration (highly-skilled diaspora). In addition, the pros and cons of monetary remittances are summarized and analyzed. Being among the countries with the largest Diasporas relative to the total nation's population, Serbia represents a rich case study for societal and economic impacts of social and monetary diaspora remittances

    The implementation of certain smart classroom services in the educational process makes it possible to increase the efficiency and quality of the teaching process, as well as the level of competence of students, with low financial investments and a short process of teacher training. The application of the Internet of Things and mobile technologies improves the quality of teaching, making it more interesting for students, thus technologies have significant potential for improving teaching and learning in all educational sectors. The advantage of this way of working is in the application of mobile technologies that students already use. Organizing the teaching process in smart learning environments enables quality and faster communication of students with teachers, active participation of students, and a better type of teaching as well as the efficient exchange of information in the teaching process.     Is there order in the mess? A single paper meta-analysis approach to identification of predictors of success in learning analytics

    Predictors of student academic success do not always replicate well across different learning designs, subject areas, or educational institutions. This suggests that characteristics of a particular discipline and learning design have to be carefully considered when creating predictive models in order to scale up learning analytics. This study aimed to examine if and to what extent frequently used predictors of study success are portable across a homogenous set of courses. The research was conducted in an integrated blended problem-based curriculum with trace data (n = 2,385 students) from 50 different course offerings across four academic years. We applied the statistical method of single paper meta-analysis to combine correlations of several indicators with students' success. Total activity and the forum indicators exhibited the highest prediction intervals, where the former represented proxies of the overall engagement with online tasks, and the latter with online collaborative learning activities. Indicators of lecture reading (frequency of lecture view) showed statistically insignificant prediction intervals and, therefore, are less likely to be portable across course offerings. The findings show moderate amounts of variability both within iterations of the same course and across courses. The results suggest that the use of the meta-analytic statistical method for the examination of study success indicators across courses with similar learning design and subject area can offer valuable quantitative means for the identification of predictors that reasonably well replicate and consequently can be reliably portable in the future

    An Optimization Approach with Single-Valued Neutrosophic Hesitant Fuzzy Dombi Aggregation Operators

    Using the strength of a single-valued neutrosophic set (SVNS) with the flexibility of a hesitant fuzzy set (HFS) yields a robust model named the single-valued neutrosophic hesitant fuzzy set (SVNHFS). Due to the ability to utilize three independent indexes (truthness, indeterminacy, and falsity), an SVNHFS is an efficient model for optimization and computational intelligence (CI) as well as an intelligent decision support system (IDSS). Taking advantage of the flexibility of operational parameters in Dombi's t-norm and t-conorm operations, new aggregation operators (AOs) are proposed, which are named the SVN fuzzy Dombi weighted averaging (SVNHFDWA) operator, SVN hesitant fuzzy Dombi ordered weighted averaging (SVNHFDOWA) operator, SVN hesitant fuzzy Dombi hybrid averaging (SVNHFDHWA) operator, SVN hesitant fuzzy Dombi weighted geometric (SVNHFDWG) operator, SVN hesitant fuzzy Dombi ordered weighted geometric (SVNHFDOWG) operator as well as SVN hesitant fuzzy Dombi hybrid weighted geometric (SVNHFDHWG) operator. The efficiency of these AOs is investigated in order to determine the best option using SVN hesitant fuzzy numbers (SVNHFNs) in an IDSS. Additionally, a practical application of SVNHFDWA and SVNHFDWG is also presented to examine symmetrical analysis in the selection of wireless charging station for vehicles
