    Evaluation of the pharmaceutical distribution and warehousing companies through an integrated Fermatean fuzzy entropy-WASPAS approach

    Purpose Pharmaceutical supply chains (PSCs) need a well-operating and faultless logistics system to successfully store and distribute their medicines. Hospitals, health institutes, and pharmacies must maintain extra stock to respond requirements of the patients. Nevertheless, there is an inverse correlation between the level of medicine stock and logistics service level. The high stock level held by health institutions indicates that we have not sufficiently excellent logistics systems presently. As such, selecting appropriate logistics service providers (drug distributors) is crucial and strategic for PSCs. However, this is difficult for decision-makers, as highly complex situations and conflicting criteria influence such evaluation processes. So, a robust, applicable, and strong methodological frame is required to solve these decision-making problems. Design/methodology/approach To achieve this challenging issue, the authors develop and apply an integrated entropy-WASPAS methodology with Fermatean fuzzy sets for the first time in the literature. The evaluation process takes place in two stages, as in traditional multi-criteria problems. In the first stage, the importance levels of the criteria are determined by the FF-entropy method. Afterwards, the FF-WASPAS approach ranks the alternatives. Findings The feasibility of the proposed model is also supported by a case study where six companies are evaluated comprehensively regarding ten criteria. Herewith, total warehouse capacity, number of refrigerated vehicles, and personnel are the top three criteria that significantly influence the evaluation of pharmaceutical distribution and warehousing companies. Further, a comprehensive sensitivity analysis proves the robustness and effectiveness of the proposed approach. Practical implications The proposed multi-attribute decision model quantitatively aids managers in selecting logistics service providers considering imprecisions in the multi-criteria decision-making process. Originality/value A new model has been developed to present a sound mathematical model for selecting logistics service providers consisting of Fermatean fuzzy entropy and WASPAS methods. The paper's main contribution is presenting a comprehensive and more robust model for the ex ante evaluation and ranking of providers

    Leadership for Quality 4.0 Improvement, Learning, and Innovation

    In modern business, Industry 4.0 has brought in a technological transformation in which digital technologies provide improving quality in many aspects. Therefore, this research aims to explore the influence of leadership on quality achievements within Industry 4.0, connoting Quality 4.0. Accordingly, this research observes the mutual relations among all QMS elements encompassed in ISO 9004:2018 in the context of Quality 4.0. The developed research model consists of one independent variable: Leadership; and five dependent variables: Context and Identity; Resource Management; Process Management; Performance Management; Improvement, Learning, and Innovation. The survey is carried out through a questionnaire distributed among 345 companies of different types, ages, sizes, and industries. Gathered data are analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) to perceive relationships between the variables. Findings indicate a direct positive influence among all observed variables, except the influence of Process Management on Improvement, Learning, and Innovation as Quality 4.0 achievements. The findings could have significant implications on leaders' knowledge on investigating a roadmap to implement the well-based QMS to achieve sustainable results in Quality 4.0 improvement, learning, and innovation

    Prethodna istraživanja ukazuju na rastuću potrebu za bavljenje problematikom prevarnog finansijskog istraživanja. Pored finansijskih mera, i nefinansijske mere su te koje treba uzimati u obzir u procesu merenja ekonomskog učinka preduzeća. Ovo istraživanje ukazuje na značaj integrisanog načina u merenju finansijskih performansi komanije u proceni rizika od nastanka prevarnih radnji, što podrazumeva primenu nefinansijskih mera učinka zajedno sa finansijskim. Ukoliko postoji razlika između nefinansijskih mera i finansijskih performansi, to može da bude znak upozorenja da je moguće postojanje rizika od prevarne radnje. Istraživanja o primeni nefinansijskih mera u poboljšanju procene rizika od prevarnih radnji su oskudna kada se posmatra srpski kontekst. Stoga će ovo istraživanje dodati vrednost postojećoj literaturi za upravljanje rizikom od prevarnih radnji u finansijskim izveštajima.Previous research indicates a growing need to address the issue of fraudulent financial research. In addition to financial measures, non-financial measures are those that should be considered in the process of measuring the economic performance of the company. This research points to the importance of an integrated way of measuring the financial performance of a company in assessing the risk of fraud, which implies the application of non-financial performance measures together with financial ones. If there is a difference between non-financial measures and financial performance, this may be a warning sign that there may be a risk of fraud. Research on the application of non-financial measures in improving the risk assessment of fraud is scarce when looking at the Serbian context. Therefore, this research will add value to the existing literature on fraud risk management in financial statements

    Winter destinations hotels performance measurement practice-evidence from CEE

    This study offers insight into the performance measurement practice of winter destination hotels in Bosnia. The research was conducted through face-to-face interviews with hotel owners, managing directors and managers. In the metrics measurement structure, financial metrics dominate, but hotels use non-financial metrics to a significant extent as well. The results point to the existence of differences in performance measurement of hotels of different income and sales growth. Moreover, the research highlights that managers mostly assess the usefulness of both organizational and operational metrics as above average. Unlike performance measurement, the managers' attitudes differ only with hotels of different sales growth

    Robust encrypted face recognition robot based on bit slicing and Fourier transform for cloud environments

    In the field of computer vision, face recognition has become a trending research topic, and is widely used in the area of network security. The transmission of data over a network via a cloud server exposes the information to security risks and privacy attacks, meaning that the use of an encryption algorithm is essential. Face recognition algorithms in robotics applications have become cumbersome in terms of the computation speed needed to recognize the image. Since this is a built-in programming function in the robotics board, it will limit the speed and security of data storage. To overcome this issue, a cloud server is utilized as this can improve the processing speed, throughput, efficiency, and robustness of face recognition. Storing images in the cloud server in a secure way requires that the image be encrypted. To achieve this, we propose a hybrid encryption technique based on bit slicing and a discrete Fourier transform (DFT), and develop a secure robotic face image recognition scheme using a MobileFaceNet-CNN model (BS-DFT-MobileFaceNet). The percentages of improvement in terms of accuracy over LeNet, VGG16Net, Alexnet, GoogLeNet, ResNet, MobileFaceNet including raw input image were 17.5%, 7.36%, 22.41%, 22.62%, 8.65%, and 288.89% for raw input images and encrypted images using Genetic Algorithm (GA), DNA Algorithm, Bit slicing, AES, DFT, and BS-DFT encryption algorithms respectively

    Recovery center selection for end-of-life automotive lithium-ion batteries using an integrated fuzzy WASPAS approach

    With the emergence of battery-based electric vehicles, transportation systems gradually leave using fossil fuel-based combustion engines. Due to their reasonable performance, Lithium-ion batteries have become one of the major batteries used for electric vehicles. Although these batteries are being used in most companies, their high production cost, rare raw material, and short life cycle have raised important incentives for their recovery process. However, locating a recovery center for end-of-life Lithium-ion batteries is a multi-aspect decision making problem influenced by many criteria. For this purpose, a novel integrated decision-making model is developed based on Measuring Attractiveness by a Categorical Based Evaluation TecHnique (MACBETH) for calculating the criteria weights and Weight Aggregated Sum Product ASsessment (WASPAS) methods under the fuzzy environment with Dombi norms for evaluating the alternatives to address recovery center location selection problem considering technical as well as environmental, economic, and social aspects. To show the reliability and applicability of the developed method, a real-world case study in Istanbul is investigated. The developed method is used to evaluate six potential locations for the possible establishment of a recovery center. Results showed that Tuzla district is the most suitable location for opening a recovery center for end-of-life Lithium-ion batteries. Tuzla is in a very good position in terms of proximity to suppliers, transportation and location. To illustrate the robustness of the obtained results, extensive sensitivity analysis tests are performed

    Artificial Intelligence Regulation in the Areas of Data Protection, Information Security, and Anti-discrimination in Western Balkan Economies

    In order to improve trust related to the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI), European Union (EU) institutions are in the final stages of developing an ethical and legal framework. In the meantime, Western Balkan (WB) economies (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Kosovo) are pushing for the implementation of advanced information technologies and artificial intelligence, particularly in the public sector. This paper aims to provide an overview of regulatory approaches toward AI in WB economies, which are in process of EU integration but usually do lack institutional capacities and need further strengthening of rule of law. The paper will firstly introduce the concept of regulation and the challenges of the regulability of IT and AI. Secondly, the paper will map key actors and stakeholders in WB and analyze the development of strategic documents, ethical frameworks, and legal regulations in the area of AI. Thirdly the paper will briefly compare the existing regulatory framework of WB economies in the areas of Data Protection, Information Security, and Anti-discrimination and its applicability to the implementation of AI technologies. Lastly, by presenting key principles of the EU approach to the regulation of AI the paper will provide recommendations for Western Balkan economies

    Project-based translation of Wikipedia articles in a tertiary ESP context: planning, execution and lessons learnt

    Contemporary ESP instruction tends to avoid traditional teaching methods such as translation, since these were seen as obsolete and believed to discourage communication skills. Attitude towards translation of specialized authentic texts, however, has been changing, mostly because of its potential as an activity that contributes to students' content and language knowledge and transferable skills, such as problem-solving, collaboration, decision-making, etc. Following the constructivism-based learning theories, this article presents the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PBL) in a tertiary ESP context on a collaborative English-Serbian translation and peer review project of selected Wikipedia articles. It outlines the project execution phases and reports on the results of a questionnaire investigating students' evaluation of the project. The results indicate the respondents' overall satisfaction, especially regarding the acquired content knowledge, technical and teamwork skills, and a better grade gained in the course. The results also indicate room for improvement in both the organizational aspects of the project, and collaboration between ESP teachers and project participants, as this may lead to more proficient language competencies
