Evaluation of sensory characteristics of common carp reared in purified wastewater from a slaughterhouse
The aim of the present research was to evaluate the sensory characteristics of common carp
as well as their correlation with the season of sampling in the common carp reared in integrated
production system. Fish were collected in spring and autumn from fish pond which
received purified water from slaughterhouse. The sensory quality of common carp fillets

Seroprevalence of selected infectious diseases in red deer population in Serbia
While domestic and wild animals share the same pathogens, wildlife is recognized as the reservoir of many
diseases. Considering their role as indicators, victims, bridge hosts, or maintenance hosts, the monitoring of
wildlife should be an integrated part of country surveillance and disease control strategy. Thus, the main aim
of this study was to determine the presence and the spread of selected infectious diseases in red deer
population in Serbia through seroprevalence estimation.
A random geographical collection of samples from 123 shot red deer was organized during the hunting season from
August 2022 to February 2023. The blood was collected directly from the heart using a syringe and needle. For each
sample, data on geolocation, species, age, and sex were collected. Sera samples were decanted after centrifugation at
2000 g for 10 minutes and tested for the presence of specific antibodies against Capripox virus (ELISA: ID Screen®
Capripox Double Antigen Multi-species, IDvet), West Nile fever virus (ELISA: INgezim West Nile Compac, Ingenasa),
Schmallenberg virus (ELISA: ID Screen® Schmallenberg virus Indirect Multi-species, IDvet), Bluetongue disease virus
(ELISA: INgezim BTV DR, Ingenasa), Bovine viral diarrhea virus (ELISA: PrioCHECK™ Ruminant BVD p80 Ab Serum & Milk,
Prionics), Bovine Herpesvirus-1 (ELISA: ID Screen® IBR gB Competition, IDvet), Q fever (ELISA: ID Screen® Q Fever
Indirect Multi-species, IDvet), Brucella spp. (RBT; ELISA: INgezim® Brucella Compac 2.0 Ingenasa) and Leptospira spp.
(MAT).
Specific antibodies against Capripox virus, Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus and Leptospira spp. were not detected
in any of tested samples. Seroprevalence of Brucella spp. infection was 0.8%. Q fever infection was indirectly
confirmed in 3 red deer (2.4%) from the same hunting ground. Seroprevalence of vector-borne diseases in
the red deer population was 18.5% for Schmallenberg disease, 39% for Bluetongue disease, and 58.5% for
West Nile fever. Bovine Herpesvirus-1 antibodies were detected in 43.1% of samples.
The red deer population can be considered the reservoir of vector-borne viral diseases such as Bluetongue
disease, West Nile fever and Schmallenberg disease. Based on estimated seroprevalence, red deer should
not be considered a risk for maintaining Q fever, Brucellosis, Capripox virus, Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus and
Leptospira spp. infection. The results of the present study indicate that the red deer population should be
thoughtfully considered during livestock disease eradication programs, particularly infectious bovine

Pesticides and environmental pollutants in organic honeys according to their diversity of production areas in order to protect human health
U poslednjoj deceniji trend potrošnje meda je drastično porastao u svetu. Razlog je sve veći akcenat na konzumaciji
meda zbog njegovih pozitivnih efekata na zdravlje zbog antibakterijskih i antioksidativnih svojstava meda. S druge
strane, pesticidi, posebno insekticidi i akaricidi, su glavni uzročnici koji mogu da kontaminiraju med i ugroze njegov kvalitet.
Iz tog razloga je određivanje ovih polutanata neophodno i važno, budući da je upotreba pesticida svake godine sve veća
zbog potrebe proizvodnje hrane, a mnogi od njih se nakon upotrebe dugo nalaze u životnoj sredini. Na ovaj način pčele i
med se mogu svrstati u ekološke indikatore. Savremene tehnike, kao što je gasna hromatografija sa masenom detekcijom,
imaju mogućnost da detektuju veliki broj pesticida istovremeno na nivou tragova. Ekstrakcija pesticida iz meda je veliki
analitički izazov zbog složenosti matriksa koji sadrži oko 300 hemijskih jedinjenja iz različitih grupa kao što su šećeri
(monosaharidi i oligosaharidi), organske kiseline, aminokiseline, enzimi, hormoni, flavonoidi, vitamini, eterična ulja i steroli.
Različiti pristupi zasnovani na novim sorbentima u fazi prečišćavanja tokom postupka pripreme nedavno su evaluirani kako
bi se dobili zadovoljavajući parametri validacije metode. Brza metoda prečišćavanja korišćenjem disperzivne ekstrakcije
čvrste faze obezbeđuje način da se dobiju čisti ekstrakti sa odličnim rezultatima za spajk. Poslednjih godina je veliki broj
naučnih publikacija koje su razvile osetljivu i tačnu metodu za određivanje rezidua pesticida u uzorcima meda. Fokus
istraživanja bio je na validaciji metode za određivanje organohlornih pesticida, amitraza i 2,4 dimetilanilina u medu
proizvedenom u Srbiji. Cilj je bio da se validira metoda kako bi se pronašao najpouzdaniji odgovor na pitanje o bezbednosti
meda na teritoriji Republike Srbije i odgovor na pitanje o prisustvu rezidua pesticida u medu. Rezultati istraživanja su
rezultati dobijenih analiza o prisustvu pesticida u različitim vrstama meda iz Srbije. Dalje je prikazan pregled rezultata drugih
autora, kako o najnovijim rezultatima ispitivanog meda, tako i o prisustvu polutanata u zemljama u okruženju.In the last decade, the consumption trend of honey has increased dramatically in the world. The reason is the
growing emphasis on the consumption of honey due to its positive effects on health due to the antibacterial and antioxidant
properties of honey. On the other hand, pesticides, especially insecticides and acaricides, are the main causes that can
contaminate honey and compromise its quality. For that reason, the determination of these pollutants is necessary and
important, since the use of pesticides is increasing every year due to the need to produce food, and many of them are in
the environment for a long time after use. In this way, bees and honey can be classified as environmental indicators.
Modern techniques, such as gas chromatography with mass detection, have the ability to detect a large number of
pesticides simultaneously at the trace level. Extraction of pesticides from honey is a great analytical challenge due to the
complexity of the matrix containing about 300 chemical compounds from different groups such as sugars
(monosaccharides and oligosaccharides), organic acids, amino acids, enzymes, hormones, flavonoids, vitamins, essential
oils and sterols. Different approaches based on novel sorbents for clean-up step in preparation procedure have been
recently evaluated in order to obtain satisfactory method validation parameters. A quick purification method using
dispersive solid phase extraction provides a way to obtain pure extracts with excellent recovery results. In recent years, a
large number of scientific publications have developed a sensitive and accurate method for pesticide residue determination
in honey samples. The focus of the research was on the validation of the method for the determination of organochlorine
pesticides, amitraz and 2, 4 dimethylaniline in honey produced in Serbia. The aim was to validate the method in order to
find the most reliable answer to the question about the safety of honey in the territory of the Republic of Serbia and the
answer to the question about the presence of pesticide residues in honey. The results of the research are the results of the
obtained analyzes on the presence of pesticides in different types of honey from Serbia. Further it gives an overview of the
results of other authors, as about the latest results of the examined honey and the presence of contaminants in the
surrounding countries
Coccidiosis of sheep in Serbia
Coccidiosis in sheep is parasitic infection caused by protozoa in the genus Eimeria. Historically, some Eimeria spp were thought to be infectious and transmissible between sheep and goats, but the parasites are now considered host-specific. Coccidia of sheep are present worldwide and it seems difficult to say that there is any particular geographical distribution for one or the other species of coccidia. All species of coccidia are not disease-causing. There are only some species that are responsible for the outbreak of the disease. E. ovinoidalis can be very pathogen and other species such as E. bakuensis (E. ovina) and E. crandallis may exacerbate the symptoms of the former two species. Sheep coccidiosis was of great importance to health status of lambs and its performances. Lambs infection had moderate morbidity and low mortality rate. Usually it is presented at animals at 4-10 weeks. Lamb infection had moderate morbidity and low mortality rate. Environmental contamination and resulting clinical disease is generally influenced by local weather conditions and the grazing management practices of the flock. Consequence is significant increase of lamb accrescense, its weakens and less growth. The best preventive measure a lamb producer can take is to use a feed with a coccidiostat added. With careful management and sound preventive measures, the losses associated with this disease can be reduced to minimal levels. During our examination, we usually occured mixed infection with 2-3 coccidia species. At sheep most abundant species were E.ovinoidalis found at 87.1%, followed by E faurei (42%), Eimeria ahsata (37%), E. granulosa (31%), E. intricata (19%), and E. pallida (8%). Oocyst were found at adult ant young animals, but clinical sign of disease were present only at young animals. The number of excreted oocysts was higher in lambs than in adult sheep
Antioksidativna aktivnost meda
Honey is an aromatic compound, a natural food that contains a large amount of nutritional value, which is used in nutrition, but also in medicine due to its medicinal properties. Bioactive compounds (phenols, carotenoids, unsaturated fatty acids, etc.) are considered beneficial to human health due to their potential positive effects. In a healthy diet, it is important to ensure a regular intake of foods that are rich in bioactive compounds, and one such natural food is honey. The degree of quality of honey is influenced by ecological, botanical and geographical factors, the method of storage and preservation of honey, but also the chemical and biochemical properties of honey, which are tested in laboratory conditions using appropriate methods.The results of numerous analyzes indicate the bioactive and pharmacological potential of honey (antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal potential, etc.), hence the reason for the widespread use of honey for nutritional, medical, therapeutic and other purposes.Kako u svakodnevnom životu ljudi još od davnina konzumiraju različite vrste meda istovremeno kao prirodnog zaslađivača i kao lek, cilj ovog istraživanja je utvrđivanje prisustva antioksidativnih supastanci, odnosno antioksidativne aktivnosti različitih vrsta meda. Postoji zavisnost između boje meda i antioksidativnog efekta, to jest svetlija boja meda ukazuje na manji antioksidativni efekat, a tamnija boja ukazuje na veći antioksidativni efekat. Antioksidativna svojstva hrane su jedna od redovnih analiza koje se rade na različitim izvorima hrane kako bi se otkrile njihove moguće sposobnosti za unapređenje zdravlja. Tako i ovaj naučni rad daje na značaju antioksidativnosti meda i njegove koristi za ljudsko zdravlje
Porcine ear necrosis – investigation of possible infectious etiology
У етиопатогенези некрозе ушне шкољке код свиња могу бити укључени инфективни агенси као и неинфективни фактори. Грижа ушију као облик канибализма обично представља узрок некрозе ушне шкољке код свиња, али се некроза може појавити и без икаквих доказа о постојању гриже ушију. Иако су истраживачи испитивали улогу различитих узрочника за развој лезија ушне шкољке, до сада није потврђена дефинитивна етиологија. У овом раду описан је случај некрозе ушне шкољке 10 угинулих свиња са једне комерцијалне фарме свиња у Србији. Према подацима ординирајућег ветеринара фарме, лезије на ушној шкољки су први пут откривене код свиња старости између 45 и 50 дана код више од 80% јединки, у свим боксевима у одгајивалишту. За испитивање су узете ушне шкољке угинулих свиња и спроведена су патоморфолошка, бактериолошка и молекуларно-генетичка испитивања. Макроскопски, установљене лезије су описане као благи, суперфицијални дерматитис, а у тежим случајевима, била је присутна дубока инфламација дермиса са улцерацијом и некрозом. Хистопатолошким прегледом утврђен је ерозивни и улцерозни дерматитис ушне шкољке са инфилтрацијом неутрофилним гранулоцитима и лимфоцитима, фиброплазија и базофилне колоније бактерија у крастама. У осам узорака красти и ткива ушију изоловани су S. aureus (MRSA сој), S. hyicus и Streptococcus групе C. У два узорка откривен је само S. hyicus. Сви узорци били су позитивни на T. denticola/T. putidum групу и негативни на Mycoplasma suis. Седам од десет оралних брисева било је позитивно на T. denticola/T. putidum групу. Два PCR производа су секвенционирана и филогенетска анализа је показала генетску сличност секвенци нуклеотида са T. medium/T. vincentii групом и Treponema pedis. Иако су бактеријски агенси успешно утврђени у испитаним узорцима ушних шкољки, неинфективни фактори, укључујући доказану високу влажност ваздуха и дефицит сирових протеина у оброку, такође могу бити укључени у развој синдрома некрозе ушне шкољке. Истовремена детекција трепонема у узорцима красти и ткива ушију и узорцима бриса усне шупљине може указивати на пренос бактерија током гриже ушију. Овај случај још једном наглашава мултифакторијaлни карактер овог синдрома што отежава контролу и превенцију ове болести.Infectious agents as well as non-infectious factors can be involved in the
etiopathogenesis of porcine ear necrosis. Furthermore, ear biting is commonly
suggested as a cause of ear necrosis in pigs, but it may also appear without any
evidence of ear biting. Although many causative agents for the development of ear
lesions have been suggested by investigators no definitive aetiology has been
identified so far.
This report describes case of ear necrosis of 10 dead pigs from one commercial pig
farm in Serbia. According to to the data obtained by the farm veterinarian, ear lesions
were first detected in pigs between 45 and 50 days of age from all pens and more than
80% of the pig population was affected. Auriculae of dead pigs were sampled and
pathomorphological, bacteriological and molecular-genetic examinations were carried
out.
The lesions ranged from mild, superficial dermatitis to severe, deep inflammation with
exudation, ulceration and necrosis. Histopathological examination revealed erosive
and ulcerative dermatitis of the pinna with neutrophilic and lymphocytic infiltration,
fibroplasia and bacterial colonies in the crusts.
In eight ear tissue scraping samples, S. aureus (MRSA strain), S. hyicus and
Streptococcus group C were isolated. In two samples only S. hyicus was detected. All
ear tissue scraping samples tested positive for the T. denticola/T. putidum group and
negative for Mycoplasma suis. Seven out of ten oral swabs were positive for the T.
denticola/T. putidum group. Two of the PCR products were sequenced, and the
phylogenetic analysis showed a genetic relationship of the treponeme nucleotide
sequences to the T. medium/T. vincentii group and Treponema pedis.
Although bacterial agents were determined successfully in ear tissue scraping
samples, non-infectious triggering factors including proven high humidity levels and
crude protein deficiencies may also have been involved in the development of ear
necrosis syndrome. The concurrent detection of Treponema in both ear tissue
scrapings and oral swab samples might indicate the transmission of the bacterium
during ear biting. The present case once again highlights the multifactorial character
of this condition that renders the control and prevention of this disease difficult
Results of WNV monitoring program in Serbia in 2022
Poslednjih nekoliko godina je u Srbiji konstanto prisutna cirkulacija
virusa Zapadnog Nila (VZN). U humanoj populacije su zabeležene veće ili
manje epidemije počev od 2012. godine pa sve do danas. Veterinarska služba u
Srbiji je od juna 2022. godine pokrenula godišnji nacionalni program
monitoringa VZN, koji je predstavljao nastavak godišnjih programa
monitoringa počev od 2014. godine. Program je finansiran od strane Uprave
za veterinu, a na terenu ga je sprovodila veterinarska služba u saradnji sa
entomolozima i ornitolozima. Cilj programa je bila rana detekcija prisustva
VZN na nekom području i pravovremeno alarmiranje humane zdravstvene službe
i lokalnih samouprava radi sprovođenja mera kontrole (suzbijanja komaraca) i
informisanja stanovništva.
Program monitoringa se zasnivao na indirektnom i direktnom praćenju
prisustva VZN u prirodi. Indirektno praćenje virusa se vršilo serološkim
testiranjem konja na prisustvo IgM antitela i sentinel teladi uzrasta 6 do 8
meseci (oteljenih nakon sezone vektora u prethodnoj godini) na IgG antitela
protiv VZN kao potvrda akutne infekcije i cirkulacije VZN. Direktno
praćenje se vršilo ispitivanjima zbirnih uzoraka komaraca i uzoraka divljih
ptica na prisustvo VZN molekularnim dijagnostičkim metodama u aktivnom i
uzoraka na bolest suspektnih konja u pasivnom nadzoru. Broj uzoraka za
ispitivanje je određen po okruzima na osnovu visine rizika od pojave
infekcije VZN.
U periodu jun-septembar 2022. na području R. Srbije je po programu ispitano
1853 krvnih seruma konja od čega je kod 25 (1,30%) utvrđeno prisustvo IgM
antitela. Ista je bila u uzlaznoj liniji sa povećanjem aktivnosti vektora i u
junu je kod 0,9% (4/437), u julu kod 2,0% (10/490), u avgustu kod 1,9% (9/468) i u
septembru kod 0,9% (4/458) konja utvrđen pozitivan serološki odgovor. Broj
okruga u kojima je detektovana serokonverzija je iznosio 2 u junu, 3 u julu, 5 u
avgustu i 3 u septembru. U istom periodu je na području visoko rizičnih okruga
(14/25) kod 1740 ispitanih teladi utvrđeno prisustvo IgG antitela protiv
VZN kod 8,0% životinja (140/1740), odnosno kod 11 (2,7%), 34 (6, 9%), 46
(10,6%) i 49 (11,8%) sentinel teladi, na području 4/14, 7/14, 9/14 i 9/14 okruga
u junu, julu, avgustu i septembru
U direktnom praćenju prisustva VZN ispitano je 792 zbirnih uzoraka (pulova)
komaraca i VZN je potvrđen u 34 (4,3%) uzorka. Prevalencija VZN u komarcima
je rasla od negativnog nalaza u junu (0/160), prvog pozitivnog nalaza 5,9%
(19/320) u julu, pozitivnih nalaza 4,5% (7/156) u avgustu i 5,1% (8/156) u
septembru. Pozitivni uzorci komaraca na VZN su detektovani u 9 od 25 okruga:
> 20% pozitivnih od ispitanih uzoraka je utvrđeno na području Beograda,
19,15% u Srednjebanatskom, 18,37% u Južnobanatskom, 8,7% u Sremskom, 8,33%
Južnobačkom, 6,0% u Šumadijskom, 4,17% u Severnobanatskom, 4,08% u
Severnobačkom i 2.0% u Zapadnobačkom okrugu. VZN je utvrđen u uzorcima
11/52 (21,1%) uginulih divljih ptica sa područja 7 okruga, kao i u 14 (3,7%) od
379 ispitanih uzoraka ždrelnih briseva živih divljih ptica na području 4
okruga.
Program monitoringa VZN se tokom 2022. godine pokazao kao uspešan i
svrsishodan i neophodno ga je nastaviti i unaprediti u narednom periodu u
cilju pravovremene zaštite zdravlja ljudi i životinja.The constant circulation of West Nile virus (WNV) has been detected in the last few
years in Serbia. Bigger or smaller epidemics have been reported in human population
in Serbia since 2012, until today. The veterinary service in Serbia launched the yearly
national program for WNV monitoring in June 2022, and it was a continuation of the
yearly monitoring programs conducted since 2014. The program was funded by the
Veterinary Directorate, and it is implemented on the field by veterinary service in
collaboration with entomologists and ornithologists. The main objective of the
monitoring program was the early detection of the presence of WNV in a certain area,
and timely alerting of human health services and local governments in order to control
the mosquito population and to inform the local communities.
The monitoring program was based on the direct and indirect monitoring of the
presence of WNV in the environment. Indirect monitoring of virus presence was
performed by serological testing of horses on the presence of anti-WNV IgM
antibodies, and sentinel calves aged 6 to 8 months (calved after the vector season in
the previous year) for the presence of anti-WNV IgG antibodies, as the confirmation
of acute infection. Direct monitoring of the WNV presence in nature was done by
molecular testing of WNV presence in pooled mosquito’s samples and in wild birds
in active surveillance and by testing the samples of clinically suspected horses in
passive surveillance. The number of tested samples was defined at the level of each
district of the Republic of Serbia in relation to the risks of WNV infection.
In the period of June-September 2022 in Serbia, according to the program, 1853 blood
sera of horses were tested, and seroconversion (IgM antibodies) was detected in 25
(1.3%) horses. The seroconversion was in an upward line in concordance with the
increase in the activity of the vectors, thus positive serological responses were
determined in June in 0.9% (4/437), in July in 2.0% (10/490), in August in 1.9%
(9/468), and in September in 0.9% (4/458) of tested horses. The number of districts
where the positive horses were detected was: 2 in June, 3 in July, 5 in August and 3
in September. In the same period, in high-risk districts (14/25), in 1740 examined
calves, the presence of IgG-anti-WNV antibodies was determined in 8.0% of animals (140/1740), i.e. in 11 (2.7%), 34 (6, 9%), 46 (10.6%) and 49 (11.8%) sentinel calves,
in the 4/14, 7/14, 9/14 and 9/14 districts in June, July, August and September.
In direct monitoring of virus presence, 792 pooled mosquito samples were tested from
June to September 2022, and WNV was confirmed in 34 (4.3%) samples. The
prevalence of WNV in mosquitoes increased from a negative finding in June (0/160),
to the first positive finding 5.9% (19/320) in July, and positive findings 4.5% (7/156)
in August and 5.1% (8/156) in September. Positive mosquito samples were detected
in 9 out of 25 districts of Serbia: > 20% positive out of the tested samples were
detected in the Belgrade area, 19.15% in the Central Banat, 18.37% in the South
Banat, 8.7% in the Srem, 8.33% in the South Bačka, 6.0% in the Šumadia, 4.17% in
North Banat, 4.08% in North Bačka and 2.0% in West Bačka district. WNV was
determined in 11 samples out of 52 (21.1%) dead wild birds from the area of 7
districts, as well as in 14 (3.7%) out of 379 examined samples of pharyngeal swabs of
live captured wild birds in the area of 4 districts.
WNV monitoring program during 2022 proved to be successful and meaningful and
it is necessary to continue and improve it in the forthcoming period in order to ensure
the timely protection of human and animal health
Levels of DDT in sterilized milk
Milk is an important source of nutrients for newborns, babies, and children. Sterilized milk is a
nutritional food of modern times and a fast lifestyle. On the other hand, concerns about the safety of
milk date back to the end of the last century. Various sources of contamination can threaten the safety
of milk and the health of children, but also adults. The concern is primarily related to the presence of
pesticides, the main source of which is the feed and the environment. The aim of this work is to
systematize the results obtained from milk control in recent years. Research was carried out by
monitoring the presence of the sum of DDT metabolites in sterilized milk in the period from 2018 to
2022
Biosecurity measures on the broilers and breeders' farms in Serbia
The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH, founded as OIE) is an international, intergovernmental organization responsible for standard-setting processes on animal health and welfare since its establishment in 1924. Terrestrial and Aquatic Animal Health Codes of WOAH provide internationally recognized science-based standards for improving animal health and welfare and veterinary public health worldwide, including through means for safe international trade in terrestrial and aquatic animals and their products. The Manuals of Diagnostic Tests and Vaccines for Terrestrial and Aquatic Animals provide a standardized approach to diagnosing the diseases listed in the Terrestrial and Aquatic Codes.
For the WOAH and its 182 Members, biosecurity is defined as “a set of management and physical measures designed to reduce the risk of introduction, establishment and spread of animal diseases, infections or infestations to, from and within an animal population”. Although there is no specific chapter on biosecurity in WOAH international standard yet, the term biosecurity is mentioned 264 times across 12 sections and 45 chapters of Terrestrial Code, which recognizes the importance of biosecurity in the whole veterinary domain: for prevention and control of animal diseases, improving animal health and protecting public health, for animal welfare purposes, safe trade of live animals and veterinary commodities, etc.
However, WOAH recognizes biosecurity as essential for disease prevention and control, thereby improving animal health and welfare. Therefore, an ad hoc group of recognized international experts has been designated by the Director General of WOAH to start drafting a specific chapter on biosecurity. This work will follow WOAH’s standards-setting process which includes consultation with WOAH Members before being proposed for adoption by the World Assembly of Delegates at the WOAH General Assembly. Association between white line disease and sole ulcers with certain milk components in Simmental cows
Lameness is one of the high influence production illnesses in intensive dairy production farming, it reduces
milk yield andcan also negatively affect the quality of milk. Many factors can affect the production of milk components.

synthesis of milk components. White line disease and sole ulcers are widespread hoof diseases of cows in tied-holding
systems. Albeit the main cause of lameness, associations between claw disorders of cows and variation of milk components
haven’t been widely studied in Simmental cows.The objective of our study was to investigate the effect ofwhite
line disease and sole ulcers on the percentage of milk components of Simmental dairy cows kept in the small households
in Mačva locality, Serbia. For milk analysis were enrolled36 cowsin the study: affected by white line disease
(n=12), sole ulcers (n=12), and healthy cows (n=12)in the early stage of lactation. Milk components (milk protein, fat,
and non-fat dry matter) were analyzed using Lactoscan S.Significance of differences in milk component characteristics
between white line disease, sole ulcers, and healthy groups were tested using a Kruskal-Wallis multiple comparisons
test.The percentage of milk fat of cows affectedby white line disease and cows affected by sole ulcers were significantly
lower than those of non-lame cows: 3.80%, 3.69%, and 4.18%, respectively (both p<0.05).However, differences inthe
contents of milk protein and the contents of non-fat dry matter of cows affected by white line disease, sole ulcers, and
in health cows were not significantly different(p>0.05).Our results indicate that hoof diseases of cows namelywhite line
disease and sole ulcers,are associated with reduced significantly milk fat production in lame Simmental cows
