Parasitic diseases of the digestive organs of weaned piglets in intensive breeding
Parasitic infections are constant companions of pig production, regardless of the method of keeping. Caused by several parasitic species, they threaten the health of animals and cause significant economic losses due to lower growth, reduction in body weight of fattening animals and loss of daily gain, poorer feed conversion, and finally, a problem appears in the slaughterhouse industry in the form of confiscation or conditionally usable meat. During research carried out in the period 19912021, the most common occurrence of protozoan infections in weanedpiglets is that we found the average presence of protozoa Balantidium coli (95-100%), Cryptosporidium sp (17-32%), Eimeria perminuta (27-31%) ), E. debliecki (3-24%), E. polita (4-9%) and Isospora suis (3-13%). Helminth infections Ascaris suum (39-41%), Oesophagostomum dentatum (6-8%), Strongyloideus ransomi (117%) and Trichuris suis (1-7%) were also found. The planned application of parasitological, zootechnical and biosecurity measures is crucial in protecting the health of pigs and the success of production
Gastroesophageal ulcer – health and/or pigs dietary issue
proizvodnje.
Utvrđivanje uzroka nastanka EGU nije jednostavno, a vrlo često ostaje i potpuno nepoznato,
Gastroesophageal ulcer (GEU) represents erosive-ulcerative lesions of the pars esophagea of
the stomach mucosa, characterized by significant variations from herd to herd in prevalence
and severity. In the past year, there have been frequent reports from veterinary practitioners
about the occurrence of GEU on fattening pig farms, often being the only pathology present in
the herd, leading to peracute or acute deaths of pigs and significant losses on some farms,
raising doubts about the profitability of production.
Determining the causes of GEU is not straightforward and often remains completely unknown,
making it complex and uncertain to introduce measures to reduce the severity of ulcers lesions
and effectively prevent GEU occurrence. Therefore, providing precise and identical
recommendations for addressing this problem on different farms is not possible.Zbornik radov

The importance of veterinary profession in aquaculture biosecurity
The veterinary profession is crucial in ensuring biosecurity in aquaculture, which is essential for
maintaining the health of aquatic animals, safeguarding public health, and enabling sustainable
production in aquaculture, thus playing a very significant and indispensable role in the creation and
implementation of an effective biosecurity plan. The present work aims to provide the most important
challenges and problems faced by fish producers, emphasizing the role of veterinarians and veterinary
services in implementing and maintaining an effective biosecurity plan. Literature research was
conducted and data from the available literature were used. To ensure that veterinarians are best
equipped to respond to the challenges of aquatic animal health protection from professional, scientific,
and legal perspectives, a comprehensive approach to veterinary education is paramount. This approach
should integrate aquatic animal health throughout the curriculum at the undergraduate level, then
through specialized or postgraduate study programs. Furthermore, advanced opportunities for specialist
and postgraduate training should be offered, and the continuity of professional development for all
levels of expertise should be supported. The role of veterinarians is extremely important in aquaculture
and should not be overlooked compared to the role of veterinarians in other types of livestock
production. Veterinarians must have sufficient knowledge of the epidemiology and pathophysiology of
fish diseases, and based on that knowledge and experience, they should be able to diagnose or suspect
the presence of diseases in fish farms. The process of field sampling is also of paramount importance,
as it can be crucial for a timely and accurate diagnosis. Fish producers face significant challenges related
to diseases and losses, direct and indirect, resulting from the emergence of known diseases as well as
the introduction of new diseases into aquaculture facilities. Veterinarians and veterinary services are
integral to addressing these challenges through disease management, health monitoring, education,
compliance with regulations, and research. Their expertise is critical for the implementation and
maintenance of effective biosecurity plans, ensuring fish health, and increasing productivity in
aquaculture. Improved collaboration between veterinary authorities and aquaculture/fishery authorities
is vital for effectively managing the health of aquatic animals. By sharing responsibilities, resources,
and expertise, these authorities can better prevent and control diseases and ensure the health and safety
of aquatic animals and products. Their knowledge and role are essential for establishing and maintaining
biosecurity measures, health and welfare of fish, and public health.Boook of abstract
Influence of chlorpyrifos and vitamin B1 on protein synthesis and lipid status in Japanese quails
The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of vitamin B1 (thiamine) on protein changes in
the plasma of Japanese quails (Coturnix japanica) treated with chlorpyrifos. The following parameters
were investigated: concentration of plasma proteins and lipoproteins with emphasis on the concentration
of ApoA and ApoB. The study was conducted on eighty male Japanese quails (2 control groups and 6
experimental groups, n=10) at 3-4 weeks of age. One control group was treated with vitamin B1 only,
while the second group received pure corn oil. Three groups of quails were given CPF dissolved in corn
oil by gavage for 7 consecutive days at doses of 1.5 mg/kg BW, 3 mg/kg BW and 6 mg/kg BW. Another
three groups were treated with 10 mg/kg BW of vitamin B1 i.m. 30 min after CPF administration (in
above mentioned doses) for 7 consecutive days. The relative concentrations of proteins in blood plasma
were determined by native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (Native PAG electrophoresis). ApoA
and ApoB protein concentration was determined spectrophotometrically using ready-made test
packages (Rosch Diagnostic, Germany) in a closed system Cobas integra 400 plus (Rosch, Germany).
Our study have shown that CPF has influences the synthesis of proteins and changes their presentation.
Treatment with CPF leads to a decrease in the concentration of albumin and α1-globulin and an increase
in α2-, β- and -globulin. The increase in globulin fraction is only statistically significant in the presence
of the highest CPF dose. CPF caused a dose-dependent change in the representation of lipoproteins - an
increase in the ApoB and a decrease in the ApoA fraction. The positive effect of vitamin B1
administration after treatment with CPF on the lipid status in quail plasma is reflected in an increase in
the concentration of ApoA and a decrease in the concentration of the ApoB fraction.Book of abstract
Program biosigurnosnih mera u kontroli infektivnog bronhitisa u intenzivnoj proizvodnji brojlerskih pilića
Whole genome sequencing of West Nile virus strains from Serbia
West Nile virus (WNV), family Flaviviridae, genus Flavivirus, is an arbovirus transmitted by mosquitoes of the genus Culex. The virus
is maintained in the enzootic cycle with birds serving as amplifying hosts. WNV can infect a wide range of vertebrates, with humans
and horses being particularly prone to clinical disease. The WNV genome consists of a single-stranded RNA molecule that encodes a
polyprotein, which is cleaved into three structural and seven non-structural proteins. There are nine identified lineages, with lineages
1 and 2 being the most prevalent globally. Lineage 2 is predominant in Europe, causing the majority of human and animal cases. In
Serbia, lineage 2 was first confirmed in 2010, and since then it has been detected in mosquitos, humans, birds, and horses.
This study used the Oxford Nanopore platform to obtain and analyze whole genome sequences (WGS) of WNV strains from Serbia.Abstract Boo
Životni vek nerastova a samim tim i dužina njihove
eksploatacije u velikoj meri zavise od njihovog zdravstvenog stanja. Zbog toga kontrola
zdravstvenog stanja nerastova, kontrola kvaliteta sperme za veštačko osemenjavanje kroz
nadzor nad celokupnim procesom od uzimanja sperme do kvaliteta osemenjivačke doze,
optimizacija ambijentalnih i sveobuhvatnih uslova držanja (smeštaj, mikroklimat, ishrana,
nogu, krivljenje distalnih delova ekstremiteta i posledična šepavost, odbijanje skoka i
isključenje takvih nerastova na samom početku eksploatacije. U toku eksploatacije nerasta
treba omoguciti da ishrana obezbedjuje njegov razvoj i normalnu priplodnu kondiciju.
Priplodna kondicija se obezbedjuje precizno normiranom i kontroloisanom ishranom.Zbornik radov
Ascaris suum the most important parasite of pigs
parazitsko oboljenje domaćih i divljih svinja.
obolenje.Pig ascariasis is a parasitic disease caused by the nematode Ascaris suum We can say
that ascariasis is the most common, most significant and widespread parasitic disease of
domestic and wild pigs. This parasitosis has a global distribution and has been established both
in organic and extensive production and in industrial pig farms. Losses from ascariasis are flat,
even higher than many infectious diseases. Apart from the major health problems it causes to
pig production, ascariasis is a zoonotic disease.key wors: askaridoza, Ascaris suum, svinje.Zbornik radov
First molecular detection and characterization of fowl adenovirus in commercial broilers in Serbia
The present study was conducted to reveal and identify the epidemiological features of the fowl adenovirus species
circulating in the Belgrade city area. The research included clinical examination, necropsy, pathohistology, enzymelinked
immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and PCR analysis. Clinically, general weakness, increased conversion, and
poor growth were observed. Postmortem examinations showed multiple necrotic foci in the liver, and swollen and
pale kidneys. Pathohistological examination of the liver revealed hepatocellular necrosis, vacuolar degeneration of
hepatocytes, cholestasis, and hyperemia. Serological analysis of 210 blood sera confirmed seroconversion in 156
(74.28%) samples against FAdVs, and depending on the farm, it ranged from 23.33 to 100%. Using the PCR method,
105 cloacal swabs were analyzed to determine the virus genome found in 31 (29.52%) samples. Hexon gene sequence
analysis identified two species: fowl aviadenovirus D (serotype FAdV-2, FAdV-11) and fowl aviadenovirus E (serotype
FadV-8b). Those species are closely related to strains circulating in Hungary, Turkey, and other countries. Our findings
suggest that FAdV strains are significantly prevalent and could be an emerging pathogen in Serbia.
imunoenzimski test (ELISA) i PCR analizu. Klinički je uočena opća slabost, povećana konverzija hrane i slab rast.
peradi D (serotip FAdV-2, FAdV-11) i aviadenovirus peradi E (serotip FadV-8b).
