Ecosystem-Based Disaster Risk Reduction Framework as a Tool for Improved River Basin Natural Water Retention Capacity and Environmental Hazard Resilience
Contemporary water and environmental governance must address the diverse common objectives that have merged to target economic development, social equity, and environmental sustainability. Climate and land use changes, coupled with natural environmental hazards, generate immense and complex issues and challenges around the globe. Multilateral environmental agreements, the EU Water Framework and other directives, national policies and international conventions relevant to water and environmental governance indicate an ecosystem approach. With respect to disaster risk reduction, all the Sendai Framework priorities include ecosystems. The natural water retention capacity (hydrological ecosystem services) of river basins benefits from water/environmental governance and the disaster risk reduction perspective of selected environmental hazards is elaborated upon; the presented results underline the measures that improve river basin management and increase resilience to natural environmental hazards at selected river basins.This article belongs to the Proceedings of EWaS5 International Conference: “Water Security and Safety Management: Emerging Threats or New Challenges? Earthquake-induced snow avalanches : The critical height of a snow layer
Snow avalanches are one of the most common natural hazards which can occur in mountain
areas. They are considered as snow masses that rapidly descend steep slopes. As known, they
represent a threat to life safety. Favourable conditions for avalanche formation depend on the
terrain characteristics, the meteorological conditions and the existence of large snow depths
over weak layers, along with external triggering factors. These factors can be earthquakes,
explosions, the passage of skiers and snowboarders, and other factors which can trigger the
weak layer to collapse. Snow avalanches could represent a secondary hazard, whereas e.g.
earthquakes are the primary one. It is known that ground accelerations caused by earthquakes
lead to short-term inertial stresses that can result in a temporary instability on slopes in
mountainous regions. The focus of this study was on the mountainous regions of Serbia, where
ski tourism has been rapidly developing in recent years, and that are visited by more and more
people every year. According to the Seismological Survey of Serbia, the values of peak ground
acceleration (PGA) for the return period of 475 years and soil type A (rock) amount to 0.10 to
0.25 g. When it comes to Kopaonik, which is a famous ski resort in Serbia, the PGA amounts
to 0.20 g. The focal point of this paper are earthquake-induced snow avalanches with an
emphasis on the critical height of a snow layer. This study aimed to demonstrate that an
increase in the PGA leads to smaller values of the critical snow layer height h cr . Furthermore,
smaller h cr values were obtained for larger snow densities, as well as for steeper slopes. The
paper explains the need for further analysis of different factors which can cause earthquake-
induced snow avalanches. With better understanding of critical factors, more precise mapping
of earthquake-induced avalanche-prone areas could be conducted, as well as the upgraded
assessment of risks, which is the first step in the process of improvement of the safety in
mountain areas across the globe

Концепт суверенитета у контексту савремених међународних односа
Суверенитет као суштински елемент и примарно својство државе је на различите начине анализиран кроз политичку и правну историју. Различито тумачење концепта суверенитета последица је његове комплексности, односно чињенице да је суверена држава део међународног поретка заједно са другим наднационалним субјектима који настоје да уживају известан политички утицај и моћ. Процеси глобализације и успостављање великог броја међународних организација резултирало је знатном релативизовању Боденовог схватања појма суверенитета који подразумева да је државна власт највиша, независна и неограничена.
Имајући у виду да са једне стране постоји суверена држава, као основни облик политичког организовања једног друштва, а са друге стране постоји међународна заједница, намеће се питање суверенитета у савременом добу и како на њега утичу међународни односи. Међузависност држава на различитим друштвеним и политичким пољима је очигледна док промене у међународним односима, посредно или непосредно, утичуна односе држава као субјектe међународног права. Упркос, глобализацији, развоју наднационалних и
транснационалних ентитета, након значајнијих међународних догађаја као што су епидемиолошка, енергетска и економска криза, актуелни oружани сукоб, повремено уочавамо тренд јачања традиционалног значење концепта суверенитета. У том погледу, овај рад има за циљ да укаже на то да суверенитет државе у периоду међународних и националних изазова добија на важности, посебно из разлога што представља примарно средство заштите државног интегритета.Sovereignty as an essential element of the state and it has been analysed in different
ways throughout political and legal history. The different interpretation of the concept of
sovereignty is a consequence of its complexity and the fact that a sovereign state is a part of
the international order together with other supranational entities that seek to enjoy a certain
political influence and power. Globalization processes and the establishment of a large number
of international organizations resulted in a significant relativization of Boden’s understanding
of the concept of sovereignty, which implies that state power is supreme, independent and
unlimited.Bearing in mind that on the one hand there is a sovereign state, as the basic form of
political organization of a society, and on the other hand there is an international community,
the question of sovereignty in the modern age arises and how it is affected by international
relations. The interdependence of states in various social and political fields is obvious,
while changes in international relations, indirectly or directly, affect the relations of states
as subjects of international law. Despite globalization, the development of supranational
and transnational entities, after significant international events such as the epidemiological,
energy and economic crisis, the current armed conflict, we occasionally observe a trend of
strengthening the traditional meaning of the concept of sovereignty. In this regard, this
paper aims to indicate that the sovereignty of the state in the period of international and
national challenges gains importance, especially for the reason that it represents the primary
means of protecting the state’s integrity.Политикологија /

Comparative Market Price Analysis of Dental Services in the Framework of Health Tourism by Applying the Due Diligence Model
During current attempts of human survival for which, highly symptomatic propulsive professional, scientific and technological activity, relating to the rate of humans worn out in the light of their physical vs spiritual vs intellectual qualities, becomes even more significant, i.e. increases the multiplication coefficient as well as acceleration one. It is reasonable to conclude that in given circumstances of accelerated economic progress worldwide, simultaneously implying a geometric leap in the wear and tear of humanity, there is a convincing demand for establishing continuity of the revitalization process of psycho - physical - intellectual forces per capita. A crucial reason,which
speaks in favor of the given claim is exclusive of a philanthropic nature, that is, it is a result of emotional activity as the need to exercise social responsibility. Human activities, among other things, are infrastructural assumptions created in parallel for the use of medical and health tourism services. Abstracting property form of ownership (state and/or private) regarding built accommodation facilities under medical and health tourism, we respect primarily as the need, and also the right of the human part of the capital, precisely, for the optimal renewal of spent components. After all, every form of human activity is immanent to the function of civilization achievement, that is, the natural need to live as humanely as possible. Circular economy as a concept of sustainable development - the case of North Macedonia and Serbia
The circular economy is the antithesis of the current, so-called linear model of the economy, which involves the uncontrolled exploitation of natural resources and the circular flow of materials from the factory through the users to the landfill. Unlike a linear economy that is based on the take-do-throw principle, a circular economy is based on the take-do-fix-reuse-recycle principle. The principle of the circular economy changes business models, habits, and ways of thinking, both of producers and consumers. Thus, the new eco-design of the product extends its lifespan through repair, renovation, and recycling. As recycling is a leading tool on the road to a circular economy, the need for a circular economy in the world is imperative. The purpose of this paper is to show that the circular economy is a driver for the sustainable development of North Macedonia and Serbia.
The paper is conceived in three parts. The first part of the paper analyzes the advantages of the circular economy on the example of the European Union. The second part of the paper analyzes the circular economy as a driver for sustainable development on the example of North Macedonia, while the third part covers the analyzed issues on the example of the Republic of Serbia. The methodology applied in the paper involves qualitative research techniques, such as analysis, comparative analysis, and synthesis. Based on the obtained results, we concluded the need to urgently establish a comprehensive model of circular economy and an appropriate legal framework in both countries following the example of successful practices from leading European countries
The contribution of football elements to the activities of preschool children in the physical education class
The goal of this research was to examine the contribution of an innovative program that contains football elements to the activity of preschool children in physical education classes. The research was carried out using a quasi-experimental design with two classes of children of preschool age at Preschool Institution "Cika Jova Zmaj" from Pirot, divided into an experimental (18 subjects) and a control group (16 subjects). The standard physical education program and the experimental football program were implemented over the course of 12 weeks, with a total of 36 hours of physical education or training. The results showed that there are statistically significant differences in the active time of the subjects in class in favor of the experimental group and that this difference was the largest in the seventh week. This research proposes the elements of the football game as one of the traditional forms of physical exercise that shall contribute to the comprehensive motor development of preschool children and additionally activate them in physical education classes
Adaptive neuro fuzzy evaluation of energy and non-energy material productivity impact on sustainable development based on circular economy and gross domestic product
Circular economy represents a concept for turning of material and energy wastes into resources for other purposes in a closed loop system. The purpose of circular economy is to minimize the energy and material wastes. The effect of energy and non-energy material productivity on the gross domestic product (GDP) was analyzed in this study. The main contribution of the investigation was to determine which sector of energy or non-energy material productivity has the more relevance on the GDP. Energy productivity represent energy consumption sector while non-energy material productivity represents the sector closely connected to the circular economy. The used database covers OECD members in period 1990–2020. According to the results one can determine the current status of the economic development and what needs to be improved to reduce the energy and material wastes. On the contrary GDP needs to be tracked in order determine which factor has the more influence on the GDP. For such a purpose adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) was used. The metals consumption represents the most relevant factor for GDP variation and prediction. The results show also the combination of non-energy material productivity and generated municipal waste is the best-case scenario for the GDP prediction. The obtained results could represent the best practices for implementation of circular economy concept
Genetic Relationships and Signatures of Adaptation to the Climatic Conditions in Populations of Apis cerana Based on the Polymorphism of the Gene Vitellogenin
Simple Summary The Oriental honey bee Apis cerana, similar to the Western honey bee Apis mellifera, is distributed in different climatic conditions, and each of them is subdivided into more than thirty subspecies and ecotypes. Their sustainability depends on adaptations to the local climate conditions. The VG gene is involved in the development, reproduction, labor division, and caste differentiation of honey bees. We found the nucleotide sequences of the VG gene reflect the adaptation of honey bees to the local climate conditions. The VG gene sequences are acceptable tools to study the sustainability, genetic structure, and adaptation of A. cerana populations and can be applied in conservation genetics of local honey bee subspecies. Apis cerana and Apis mellifera are important honey bee species in Asia. A. cerana populations are distributed from a cold, sharply continental climate in the north to a hot, subtropical climate in the south. Due to the Sacbrood virus, almost all A. cerana populations in Asia have declined significantly in recent decades and have recovered over the past five years. This could lead to a shift in the gene pool of local A. cerana populations that could affect their sustainability and adaptation. It was assumed that adaptation of honey bees could be observed by comparative analysis of the sequences of genes involved in development, labor division, and caste differentiation, such as the gene Vitellogenin VG. The VG gene nucleotide sequences were used to assess the genetic structure and signatures of adaptation of local populations of A. cerana from Korea, Russia, Japan, Nepal, and China. A. mellifera samples from India and Poland were used as the outgroup. The signatures of adaptive selection were found in the local population of A. cerana using VG gene sequence analysis based on Jukes-Cantor genetic distances, cluster analysis, dN/dS ratio evaluation, and Tajima's D neutrality test. Based on analysis of the VG gene sequences, Apis cerana koreana subspecies in the Korean Peninsula were subdivided into three groups in accordance with their geographic localization from north to south. The VG gene sequences are acceptable tools to study the sustainability and adaptation of A. cerana populations
