    No full text
In this paper, the authors aimed to investigate the characteristics of the orientation and onboarding processes in organizations in Central Serbia. The main hypothesis, which was confirmed, is that there are statistically significant results in recognizing the activities of the onboarding and orientation processes. Based on this hypothesis, the primary goal of the paper was directed towards identifying the shortcomings of the onboarding and orientation processes of employees in the surveyed organizations. The study involved 127 respondents employed at all three management levels in 86 organizations in Central Serbia. The research results, among other things, indicate shortcomings in the employee orientation and onboarding processes, which represent the basis for its improvement to fulfill its primary function of contributing to gaining a competitive advantage

Ekonomsko-ekološki due diligence u funkciji intezivnije eksploatacije obnovljivih izvora energije

Pred čovečanstvom se, već, iz aspekta današnjice, nalaze dve mega bitke. Prva, među njima, predstavlja bitka za resurs vreme. A, druga se odnosi na energetske resurse. U uslovima bezpoštedne borbe na tržištima, ovladavanje ovim resursima, predstavljaće, simultano, imperativ generisanja komparativne prednosti, upravo, posmatrano kroz prizmu, pre svega, opstanka ljudske rase. In front of humanity, from today’s perspective, there are already two mega battles. The first, among them, represents the battle for the resource time. And the second is related to energy resources. In the conditions of merciless struggle on the markets, the mastery of these resources will represent, simultaneously, the imperative of generating a comparative advantage, precisely, viewed through the prism of, first of all, the survival of the human race. While, other forms, although of no less importance, for example, the battle for information resources, represent, nevertheless, a derivative of those relevant to the subject. Although, to a significant extent, they mutually intertwine. In the dynamic, simultaneously, also increasingly complex circumstances of business, the very existence, and then the growth, that is, the progress of the company vs humanity, do not achieve the targeted, if they are not provided, in general, and, especially, from the aspect of plausible ecological standards, de facto, and qualitatively - adequate energy sources. Abstracting, in a real moment, to a significant extent, the manifested fact, ubiquitous, unfavorable “energy situation”, and, therefore, the need to return to the exploitation of proven, traditional, non-renewable energy sources, in the environment, precisely, of respect for ecological standards, recommendations is, nevertheless, the management of a more affirmed energy policy, based on the ever-increasing exploitation of renewable energy resources. Contrary to the traditional one, we can use either the modern one, or under some other name, precisely, the approach of caring for the relations between economy and ecology. It is a notorious fact, however, that, in the circumstances of the increasingly pronounced pollution of life on Earth, as a planet, also in an identical direction to the universe, and due to the hyper-intensive exploitation of ecocidal technology, i.e., that which uses “polluting” energy resources, we believe, more than a plausible reorientation to “eco-friendly” ones as soon as possibleUrednici: prof. dr Andrea Andrejević Panić, prof. dr Jelena Ješić i prof. dr Simonida Vukadinović; tehnički urednici: prof. dr Simonida Vukadinović, prof. dr Jelena Ješić, prof. dr Andrea Andrejević Panić i doc. dr Zoran Brlja

Natural Capital in the Alternative Theories of Economic Growth

    No full text
In economic science, the content coverage and characteristics of natural capital as a determinant of economic growth were often discussed by affirming the paradigm of sustainability at the end of the previous century. The largest number of researchers supported the thesis that economic growth should be sustainable, which means that it does not imply excessive use of natural capital (natural resources and the absorption and regenerative capacity of ecological systems) per unit of newly created value. During the previous years, new growth concepts known as Green growth, Degrowth, Post growth and Doughnut appeared in the explanations of natural capital as a limiting determinant of economic growth. At the core of these concepts is a sharp opposition to the views of neoclassical economists on the possibility of an unlimited increase in economic activities. Among other things, this happens due to the fact that natural capital, as one of the basic drivers of economic growth, is limited and cannot be substituted by other production factors

Work ethic, cultural impact and perceived performance – innovative insights from three countries

    No full text
Purpose This study aims to examine the relationship between work ethics and organizational performance and investigate the influence of respondents’ career stages on their work ethic among British, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Serbian nations. Design/methodology/approach This research is based on a survey of British, UAE and Serbian managers, whose task was to assess the dimensions of the multidimensional work ethic profile (MWEP) and organizational performance. Since the MWEP does not analyze work ethics in the context of religion, it is deemed the most suitable instrument for this study because it analyzes work ethics among the three cultures that practice different religions. Findings The results revealed that national culture impacts work ethics. British managers place greater value on the wasted time, self-reliance and morality dimensions of work ethics. Serbian managers prefer the leisure and delay of gratification dimensions, while UAE managers value hard work ethics more than the other two groups of managers. The study also shows that respondents’ career stage influences their work ethic, and a significant relationship exists between different dimensions of work ethics and organizational performance in all three nations. Originality/value This study contributes to the theory by analyzing work ethic and its relationship with organizational performance and respondents’ career stages in three nations that share business interests. It addresses a research gap by comparing work ethics in developed, developing and a country in socio-economic transition

    No full text
Due to buckwheat , s modest needs according to the conditions of the external environment and cultivation technology, its favorable chemical composition of the grain and other nutritional and medicinal characteristics, this plant species is becoming very relevant. Its features are fully in line with the requirements of sustainable development and sustainable agriculture. Economics indicators show that buckwheat production, export and import as well as price of export and import, at the global level, have varied extremely. Nowadays, the almost 90% of total production is realized in Europe and Asia, but the rest (about 180000t) in North and South America and Africa. The greates producers are Russian Federation (about 920000t) and China (about 502000t). In 2021., the biggest exporters of buckwheat were: Russian Federation, capturing 41% of the total world export, but Japan, China, Ukraina, Poland, Italy and Lithuania were the biggest importers of buckwheat making up half of the import, globally. Export price was 1800 dollars per tone in 2021., that was a 24% higher value, compared to previous year. At the same period, buckwheat imports price was raised by 1.4% each year, averagely and the highest imports price was achieved in Holand while the lowest in China, in 2021. Buckwheat and its products were at 842. place of the best- selling products in the world accounting for 0.0075% of the total world turnover, in 2020. The highest gross consumption of buckwheat per capita is in Russia (15 kg per year), followed by Ukraine (12 kg per year). In buckwheat trade, raw buckwheat takes about 70%, and the rest is trade in buckwheat products (processed buckwheat). The beverage and food industry contribute to entire income generated on the buckwheat market significantly (35%), but increase of buckwheat use in cosmetic (3%) and the pharmaceutical industry (3.7%) have been recorded. The use of buckwheat shows a growth trend in all regions, except for the Middle East and Africa, with the estimate that it will double by 2030. Serbia is significantly behind its neighbors in the production and consumption of buckwheat for various purposes. The possibility for more mass and stable cultivation of buckwheat is a combination of modern and classical selection methods in breeding buckwheat. This would overcome the difficulties of low yield, difficult harvesting and unstable flour quality.Proceedings of the 6th International Scientific Conference: Modern Trends in Agricultural Production, Rural Development and Environmental Protection, Vrnjačka Banja, Serbia June 27–28, 202

Physical Activity as a Type of Emergency Exercise for Enhancing the Emergency Response and Preparedness Phases of a Disaster

    No full text
The first few seconds of an emergency are crucial for taking actions that will improve how you react to dangerous situations. How people behave during the early phase of the fire is the most important survival factor and the number of survivors is directly related to the occupants’ reaction rates. Better performances in the field of physical fitness can hasten the process of minimizing the effects of disasters, such as lowering the risk of injury and loss of life. The goal of this study is to ascertain the extent to which the physical condition of students who had not participated in emergency response training or any physical activity prior to the event, affected the response time and amount of time required to reach a safe location. The key assumption of this research was that each student's physical fitness would be closely related to how efficient they reacted in an emergency. Among all physical variables that were tested, the highest comparison significance was found in body fat percentage, muscle strength, muscle power, muscle endurance, cardiorespiratory fitness, and emergency response time. The data used in this study offered a unique opportunity to examine and contrast two groups of students who were only separated by their level of physical activity. The results of this study clearly suggest that some physical aspects of emergency reaction time—which is shown to be shorter among physically active students—have a stronger impact than others and should be taken into consideration when developing a particular physical activity program. Although physical activity is still not formally recognized as a disaster preparedness activity, with this knowledge untrained employees who are engaged in it could perform better in the disaster evacuation process. With more knowledge about the benefits of physical activity in the field of disaster preparedness and response, this potential could be of great importance to emergency managers and response professionals, while also preparing future generations to handle disasters caused by people

Connectivity of Geochemical Composition of Sediments and Soils in the Large Urban River Catchment

    No full text
This article aimed to identify sources and transport pathways of macro- and microelements in large urbanized rivers under significant anthropogenic pressure. To achieve the objective of this study, the geochemical characteristics of the sediments of the Sava and Danube Rivers and the soils flooded by the Kolubara River were determined. The high content of Mg indicates the dominant origin of the material from loess deposits. The significantly higher contents of Cr and Ni in sediment and soil samples from the Obrenovački Zabran (OZ) than in the samples from the Veliko Ratno Ostrvo (VRO) are the result of increased anthropogenic pressure. Sediments from the VRO show increased Sn and Sb contents. The increase in the content of chalcophile elements is the highest in the sediments from the OZ and ranges from 1.8 to 2.7 times, compared to their concentrations in the Earth’s crust. The soils from OZ and the sediments from the VRO show a decrease in the content of chalcophile elements compared to the sediments from the OZ so the increase is 1.2–1.5, and 0.9–2.3 times, respectively compared to the Earth’s crust. The obtained results revealed that the yield of sedimentary material that has higher concentrations of microelements decreases already at a distance of several km
