    Presentation of Programs for Perpetrators of Gender-Based Violence in the Republic of Serbia in 2021

    Programi rada sa učiniocima rodno zasnovanog nasilja koji se sprovode integrisano sa službama za podršku žrtvama, uz kontinuirano praćenje i upravljanje rizikom, čine osnovu sveobuhvatne zaštite i podrške ženama žrtvama rodno zasnovanog nasilja. U periodu od 2011. do 2021. programi su se sprovodili primarno u okviru centara za socijalni rad, bez utvrđene stabilnosti sa aspekta profesionalnih i tehničkih resursa i sa aspekta finansiranja programa. Cilj ovog rada je prikaz rezultata analize aktuelnog stanja u realizaciji programa rada sa učiniocima partnerskog nasilja u našoj zemlji tokom 2021. godine, sagledavanje nedostataka postojećih programa i formulisanje preporuka za njihovo unapređivanje. Ispitivanje je sprovedeno od strane ekspertkinja Nacionalne mreže OPNA na uzorku organizacija koje su realizovale programe sa učiniocima i žrtvama nasilja. Rezultati pokazuju da se najveći broj programa ne realizuje u skladu sa standardima i da je usklađivanje realizacije programa sa standardima promena koju je neophodno uvesti kako bi zaštita žrtava bila efikasnija.Programs for perpetrators of gender-based violence, which are implemented in an integrated manner with victim support services, with continuous monitoring and risk management, form the basis of comprehensive protection and support for victims of gender-based violence in Serbia. In the period from 2011. to 2021. these programs were implemented predominantly within the centres for social work, without established professional, technical and financial stability. This paper aims to present the survey results on the current situation in the implementation of the program for perpetrators of intimate partner violence (IPV) in Serbia in 2021. Research aimed to identify whether and to what extent the current programs for perpetrators of IPV in Serbia were implemented following defined standards of work, to determine possible shortcomings, to formulate recommendations for their improvement, and to improve the sustainability of the program’s implementation. Experts from the National Network OPNA conducted the survey on a sample of organisations that implemented programs with perpetrators and organisations that provide support for victims of violence. Findings show that most programs are not implemented following the defined standards. Therefore, harmonisation of the implementation of the programs with the standards is a change that must be introduced in order to make the protection of victims as effective as possible

    U večitoj potrazi za poboljšanjem kvaliteta života čoveka, pedesetih godina prošlog veka pojavljuje se plastika kao novi materijal atraktivan zbog svoje otpornosti i prilagodljivosti, kao i zbog niske cene proizvodnje. Razvitkom industrije i povećanjem ljudskih potreba, količina proizvedene plastike na godišnjem nivou eksponencijalno raste, da bi 2021. godine dostigla čak 390 miliona tona. Međutim, načini za odlaganje i tretman plastičnog otpada nisu ispunili zahteve povećanog obima industrije, zbog čega zagađenje plastikom postaje jedna od aktuelnih ekoloških kriza. Prateći trendove u proizvodnji i upotrebi plastičnih proizvoda, povećava se i količina mikroplastike prisutna u celokupnoj životnoj sredini. Prepoznate su brojne opasnosti izazvane prisutnošću mikroplastike, a koje uključuju i njenu ingestiju od strane životinja, pa tako i ljudi. Tada mikroplastika može da napravi fizičku barijeru unutar organizma, npr. doprinoseći povećanju rizika od ateroskleroze, ili da prenese adsorbovane organske polutante i aditive kroz membrane organizma. Ovo su razlozi zbog kojih se jasno uviđa da je neophodno definisati metode za precizno utvrđivanje količine i vrste mikroplastike u životnoj sredini, jer je to jedan od prvih, ključnih koraka ka kontroli i suzbijanju ove vrste zagađenja.In the eternal search for the improvement of the quality of human life, plastic emerged in the 1950s as an attractive new material due to its resistance, adaptability, as well as the low cost of production. With the development of the industry and the increase of human needs the amount of plastic produced annually has grown exponentially, reaching as much as 390 million tons in 2021. However, the methods for disposal and treatment of plastic waste have not met the requirements of the increased production volume, leading to plastic pollution becoming one of the major current environmental crises. As the production and use of plastic products have risen, the amount of microplastics in the environment has also increased. Numerous dangers caused by the presence of microplastics have been recognised, including its ingestion by animals and humans alike. By this pathway microplastics are able to create a physical barrier inside the organism, possibly contributing to an increased risk of atherosclerosis, or transfer adsorbed organic pollutants and additives through the body's membranes.     Savremeni trendovi u svetskoj privredi nameću zaključ ke da samo one privrede, koje su spremne da prihvate novu filozofiju globalnog okruženja i prilagode svoju strukturu i institucije tim proce sima, mogu da ostvare optimalne ekonomske efekte. Iscrpljivanje izvo ra fosilnih goriva, kao i promene klimatskih uslova nameću potrebu zaokreta ekonomije ka obnovljivim izvorima. Bioekonomija podra zumeva proizvodnju obnovljivih bioloških resursa i pretvaranje ovih resursa i tokova otpada u proizvode sa dodatom vrednošću. Ona obuhvata sve sektore i sisteme koji se oslanjaju na biološke resur se. Imperativ uspešnosti bioekononije počiva na principima održivosti i cirkularnosti. Transformacija ka bioekonomiji znači da utemeljene i već razvijene strukture i sistemi moraju biti u potpunosti preformuli sani. Kompanije u oblasti bioekonomije u turbulentrnom poslovnom okruženju, suočavaju se kako sa internim, tako i sa brojnim eksternim faktorima, koji imaju direktan ili indirektan uticaj na njeno ponašanje i ostvarene rezultate. Unakrsnim preplitanjem eksternih i internih ele menata formira se kompleksno okruženje u okviru kojeg savremene kompanije u oblasti bioekonomije usmeravaju poslovne procese, sle deći svoju viziju, misiju, ciljeve, politiku, strategije, planove i projekte. Jedan od esencijalnih i neophodnih procesa koji se odvija u savreme nom poslovnom okruženju je proces digitalne transformacije kompa nija. Proces digitalne transformacije kompanije u oblasti bioekonomije omogućava temeljno redefinisanje operacija, komunikacija i poslovnih modela kompanije u oblasti bioekonomije, kroz integraciju digitalnih tehnologija. Sprovodjenjem procesa digitalne transformacije sprovo di se duboka promena koja zahteva uključivanje tehnologije u osnovu svakodnevnih aktivnosti kako bi se poboljšali efikasnost, inovativnost i konkurentnost na tržištu kompanije u oblasti bioekonomije. Adapta cija na digitalne trendove postaje ključna za očuvanje tržišne pozicije, a uspešna implementacija digitalnih transformacija može rezultirati značajnim uštedama, optimizacijom resursa i poboljšanjem produk tivnosti kompanije u oblasti bioekonomije. Digitalna transformacija kompanija u oblasti bioekonomije nosi sa sobom i odredjene izazove pre svega iz razloga što se od menadžera očekuje da efikasno uprav ljaju integracijom novih sistema, osiguraju obuku zaposlenih i mini miziraju otpor prema promenama u procesu digitalne transformacije kompanija u oblasti bioekonomije, kao i da efikasno prolaze kroz ove izazove, podržavajući svoje timove, i uspešno integrišu nove tehnolo gije u poslovne procese. Razumevanje i upravljanje ljudskim resursima u kontekstu digitalnih transformacija ključno je za uspeh kompanije u oblasti bioekonomije.Contemporary trends in the world economy impose con clusions that only those economies, which are ready to accept the new philosophy of the global environment and adapt their structure and institutions to those processes, can achieve optimal economic effects. Depletion of fossil fuel sources, as well as changes in climate condi tions, impose the need to turn the economy towards renewable sourc es. The bioeconomy implies the production of renewable biological resources and the conversion of these resources and waste streams into value-added products. It includes all sectors and systems that rely on biological resources. The imperative for the success of the bioeconomy rests on the principles of sustainability and circularity. Transformation towards a bioeconomy means that established and already developed structures and systems must be completely reformulated. Companies in the field of bioeconomy in a turbulent business environment face both internal and numerous external factors, which have a direct or indirect influence on their behavior and achieved results. Cross intertwining of external and internal elements creates a complex environment with in which modern companies in the field of bioeconomy direct busi ness processes, following their vision, mission, goals, policy, strategies, plans and projects. One of the essential and necessary processes that takes place in the modern business environment is the process of dig ital transformation of companies. The process of digital transforma tion of the company in the field of bioeconomy enables a thorough re definition of operations, communications and business models of the company in the field of bioeconomy, through the integration of digital technologies. By implementing the digital transformation process, a profound change is being implemented that requires the inclusion of technology in the basis of daily activities in order to improve efficiency, innovation and competitiveness in the company‘s bioeconomy mar ket. Adaptation to digital trends becomes crucial for preserving the market position, and successful implementation of digital transforma tions can result in significant savings, optimization of resources and improvement of company productivity in the field of bioeconomy. The digital transformation of companies in the field of bioeconomy brings with it certain challenges, primarily because managers are expected to effectively manage the integration of new systems, ensure employee training and minimize resistance to changes in the process of digital transformation of companies in the field of bioeconomy, as well as to efficiently pass through these challenges, supporting their teams, and successfully integrate new technologies into business processes.     The Impact of Individual and Organizational Characteristics on Work Ethics- Cross-Cultural Comparison

    This study aims to analyze the effect of individual (gender and education) and organizational (organizational sector) characteristics on work ethics in the United Kingdom, Serbia, and the United Arab Emirates. This research is centered around a survey conducted among managers, from the UK, the UAE, and Serbia. Their main task was to evaluate the aspects of the Multidimensional Work Ethic Profile (MWEP) short form. The MWEP was chosen for this study as it does not explicitly address work ethics with religion, making it a suitable tool for examining work ethics across three cultures with different religious practices. This study contributes to existing literature by exploring how organizational factors influence work ethics in three countries that share business interests and have cultural and economic ties. The findings indicate that these factors have an impact on work ethics in studied countries

    Facilitating circularity in city governance in the Republic of Serbia: a novel approach to modeling of energy efficiency big data mining

    Efficient use of energy and other resources, as the basic postulates of the circular economy, is a prerequisite for the green transition to more sustainable cities in the future. The main scientific goal of the paper is the development of a new approach to city governance when it comes to the inefficient use of energy, predominantly fossil fuels, mainly in developing and poor countries. Energy efficiency problems faced by these countries require the introduction of urgent, applicable, and realistically achievable solutions. A prerequisite for adequate analysis and modeling of energy efficiency performance, measures, policies, outcomes, and impacts is the introduction and functioning of the big data management system, which should begin with data mining. On the other hand, adequate data collection has been neglected in many of these countries. The study shows a way to reduce this gap, but in accordance with realistic and limited possibilities for countries with less favorable conditions. In that respect, a conceptual model for the Analytical Service for facilitating energy efficiency in city governance was developed and presented as a driver that can enable cities to manage energy more efficiently. The model is based on an interdisciplinary approach and on the needs of cities in the Republic of Serbia. However, it is designed to allow upgrading in accordance with the capabilities and resources of cities, primarily applicable in developing and poor countries

    Effects of Polyethylene Microplastics in Agricultural Soil on Eisenia fetida (Annelida: Oligochaeta) Behavior, Biomass, and Mortality

    The presence of microplastic particles in agroecosystems has profound implications for soil quality, crop yield, and soil biota. Earthworms are widely recognized as valuable soil bioindicators due to their abundance, fast reproduction, and easy manipulation. The aim of this study was to observe Eisenia fetida avoidance behavior and changes in biomass and mortality rate in soil samples spiked with polyethylene microplastic particles. Three types of soil sampled from the agricultural fields (“Banat 1”, “Banat 2”, and “Bačka”) were tested, as well as three microplastic concentrations (0.1, 0.2, and 0.3%). The calculated avoidance percentages ranged from 18.67% for “Banat 1” and 23.70% for “Banat 2” to 27.40% in the case of “Bačka” soil samples. Generally, E. fetida specimens avoided the sections with plastic in all bioassays: 38.42% of the earthworms were in the chamber section that contained microplastics, as opposed to 61.58% in the control section. The changes in the earthworms’ post-test biomasses were directly proportional to the number of surviving earthworms, with the highest loss in “Bačka” soil samples with 0.3% MPs (−53.05%). The highest mortality rate (46%) was noted in “Bačka” soil samples spiked with the highest concentration of microplastic particles

    Relevance of Probability Distribution of Effluent Quality Parameters for the Treatment Plants Design

    The basic legislative requirements for the wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are that the quality of selected parameters in effluent should be below the stipulated values, and that this is considered to be fulfilled if no more than certain percent of samples during one year do not conform to limits. In the Serbian legislation, for WWTPs with capacity larger than 50,000 PE minimal number of samples (24h composite) per year is 24, of which 3 can be non-conforming (12.5%), providing that the BOD5 and TSS value are not more than 100% and 150% above the limit, respectively. The starting point for setting the inlet quality used in the design is the probability distribution of legislatively relevant wastewater quality parameters. For sewage outlet “Sajam”, largest in Belgrade, Gumbel distribution of BOD5 concentrations provided the best match with the laboratory determined values, with mode (most frequent value) 250 mgO2/l and scale parameter 60 mgO2/l. In order not to overstep the limit value in more than 12.5% of samples, wastewater with the BOD5 concentration of 390 mgO2/l, which is 90th percentile, should be used in the design. The designed WWTP based on this value should be tested (using software modeling tool or calculation spreadsheet used for developing the design) on 99.9th percentile of BOD5 concentration i.e. 640 mgO2/l, present in the influent approximately ones in 1000 sampling, or once in 40 years (which is more than the normal lifespan of the plants) for 24 samples a year. If the calculated effluent BOD5 concentration is less or equal to 200% of 25 mgO2/l limit value (50 mgO2/l) for this BOD5 concentration then all the conditions stipulated in the legislations will be met.
