Drama, plasma and mythos in achilles tatius' and macrembolites' novels and the philosophical foundations of the genre
The subject-mater of this study are drama, plasma and mythos as the key categories of narration in the ancient rhetoric being widely employed in the work of both classical and Byzantine representative of the genre and having their enormous, so far unnoticed, hermeneutical potential. The study consists of three segments with the first giving a detailed survey of all the instances of the use of these terms in Greek novel and the second characterised by the application of the hermeneutical method in an attempt to decipher new meanings of the terms referred to above in Tatius' and Macrembolites' romance as well as to point at new perspectives thus being created for a new and founded explanation of the birth and the poetics of the genre. In the third and the last segment the newly acquired meanings are applied to the definition and subdivision of the third type of narration in Cicero and the author of the Rhetorica ad Herennium. It has been convincingly shown that this definition, only if substantially illuminated by these new meanings, becomes fully usable in the endeavour to understand poetics of the novel, its philosophical foundation, as well as its practical application to the needs of teaching programme in the rhetorical schools in antiquity, by which research work directions, neglected a long time ago, are now being in the last analysis actualized again
Libraries of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade - Responding to the Challenges of Our Time
Libraries of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade are extremely rich in funds and entirely unique in Serbia in terms of their number, quality and age of materials, as well as their professional profile. Based on numerical and value indicators, the collection of the above-mentioned libraries, with its overall fund of 898.200 units, represents the fifth library collection in Serbia, after those pertaining to the National Library of Serbia, University Library "Svetozar Markovic", Library of SASA and Matica Srpska. Library and information activity of the Faculty of Philology takes place in 18 separate seminar libraries, developed in accordance with the linguistic principle, which means that their organization is decentralized, since each library belongs to a particular department of the faculty. In addition, the faculty offers adequate conditions for studying the rich library funds and for the research work within its reading rooms, thus enabling study of the history and structure of Serbian and foreign languages along with historical and comparative philology. Being aware of the necessity of modernization of already existing research capacities and infrastructure and by recognizing the need for redefining and establishing new scientific and educational contents at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade, we have formed a Digital Library of the faculty and we are diligently working as to further develop the Museum of the faculty. Digital Library of the Faculty of Philology provides almost free access to numerous publications of the faculty, particularly those from conferences held at its premises, but also rare and old library materials, which are essential for further studies in the respective domains. The activity of the Museum of the Faculty of Philology should contribute to the study of history of philology through thematic exhibitions and modern multi-media presentations of cultural heritage, thus giving an insight into the valuable documents and artifacts in the possession of the faculty. Moreover, we are constantly seeking new ways as to provide access to electronic resources to our students. The latest agreement was achieved with the Russian State Library, whereas we enabled our students to access the Virtual Reading Room of the mentioned library, the only one of this kind in our region. This implies attainability of over one million texts in full, and at the same time, the access to the particularly important, in terms of postgraduate studies, 800,000 doctoral dissertations. Each student will have his/her own virtual reader cabinet where the texts he/she reads will be stored. To conclude, the Faculty of Philology, as an ideal environment for creating future place of philology in digital age, will continue to strive to create modern conditions for the study and promotion of philology science, motivate a greater number of students to continue philological studies at the master's and doctoral levels, encourage its researchers for the continuous improvement of their knowledge and development of their research, which will ultimately give crucial impetus to the further improvement of philology, literature and culture studies in Serbia
зна тачно место и време постојања, као и састав фонда је краљевска библиотека у Ебли (2500–2250. године п.н.е);
The paper gives a brief overview of systems and materials for writing used by people of the ancient Near East, as the basis for
more detailed presentation of the most important achievements in organizing and managing collections of written documents
– antecedents of modern archives and libraries. Archaeological excavations, language studying and textological analyses of
materials found on the territory of the former Sumerian cities, the Akkadian, Babylonian, Assyrian and Hittite empires and the
Eblaite, Ugaritic and Phoenician settlements, done in the 19th and 20th centuries, have greatly enriched the history of libraries.
There were certain attempts to efficiently organize the written materials back at the end of the third millennium BC. Scope
of scribal activity, along with diversity and usage of texts, have led to the appearance of inventories, rudimentary catalogues
and classification according to professional fields, practice of using catchwords and colophons in manuscripts... All the libraries
of the ancient Near East, known nowadays, were rulers’ libraries (whether they were built in imperial palaces or temples of
gods), with the exception of those in Ugarit that belonged to the supreme priests or high court officials. The oldest library,
reliably known of, was on the territory of Syria, formed in the Royal Palace of Ebla and destroyed in the fire in 2250 BC.
However, the biggest and probably the most developed library originated in this cultural circle, was the royal library of the
Assyrian king Ashurbanipal from the 7th century BC. The oldest tablet considered to be the library catalogue, dates from around
2000 BC, and was found in the ruins of the Sumerian city of Nippur; the first known founder of a library is the Assyrian king
Tiglath-pileser I (12th century BC) – which, all together, testifies to the age of libraries, but also to their rootedness in the
cultural models of certain nations
The professional regional network of hispanists in the internationalization of higher education
The paper reflects on the role and importance of the creation of international networks at a regional level for the development of higher education in the field of Philology. As a model we take the Network of Hispanists from Central Europe. From the six universities that helped create its basis in 2009, the Network grew to integrate 19 universities from eight countries. The heterogeneous structure of the network contributes to raising the quality of teaching and to enriching the curricula at the member universities
The image of Castile and Castilian identity in the writings of Miguel Delibes
Analiza 'slike o sebi' (auto-image), tj. o Kastilji i Kastiljancima u tekstualnim fragmentima Migela Delibesa, Kastiljanca, potvrđuje pretpostavku da njeni konstitutivni elementi čine veoma originalan spoj naglašenog telurizma, kulturnog tradicionalizma, naturalizma, izrazitog i destruktivnog pesimizma, ali i društvene, političke, ideološke polarizacije stanovnika. Considering the importance that issues of identity have in contemporary comparative and cultural studies, this article presents the image of Castile and analyses the elements of the Castilian identity which are discussed in the anthology entitled Castile, Castilian and Castilians (Castilla, lo castellano y los castellanos, 1979) and personally compiled by the Spanish contemporary writer Miguel Delibes (1920-2010), fulfilling the promise given to a publisher to finally offer the public a number of answers to smouldering and topical issues during the period of democratic transition in Spain. Since these kinds of issues first appeared in a systematic manner and were thoroughly analysed in the essayistic texts of the Generation of 98, a considerable portion of the article is dedicated to the differences between previous images of Castile, especially its landscape, and more contemporary concept, created by Miguel Delibes, which is conceived in a very different historical and social context. The analysis of self-image, that is, in this case, of Castile and the Castilians in the textual fragments of Miguel Delibes, a Castilian, supports the assumption that its constituent elements make a synthetic fusion of tellurism, cultural traditionalism, naturalism, intense and destructive pessimism, but also an ideological, political and social polarization of the Castilian people. A Castilian, therefore, becomes a man whose identity includes a synthesis of contradictions that often help him, by its dynamism, to survive the harsh living conditions, and to compare himself and his existence with the Other/Others, that is, with everyone who is outside the geographical and cultural boundaries of the central Iberian Peninsula
