    No full text
The paper observes the Iakov A. Protazanov's adaptation of the story Father Sergius by L. N. Tolstoy, whose profound meaning and marvellous mastery of the producer and the actors (I. Mozzhuhin, V. Dzeneeva, N. Lisenko etc.) have made one of the best films of the Russian prerevolutionary filmography. In this article we also observe the differences between the film and the original text, as well as a myriad of reminiscences which make this adaptation a true masterpiece

What do Serbs think about Arabs?

This paper analyses verbal associations which have been collected in an associative test. The test included two stimuli (Arabs and Arab) which have evoked 1,503 continuous reactions by 654 respondents. The collected reactions have been sorted by descending order and analysed through various thematic groups. The main goal was to gain insight into Serbian language speakers' perception of the Arab nation, as well as common stereotypes about it. The results thereby suggest that Serbian stereotypes about Arabs are mostly based on the mass media. The most common stereotypes are related to: symbols of wealth, living environment, clothing and physical appearance. Other reactions have been classified into smaller thematic groups: Serbian folk literature, war and religion, women, professions, other peoples, as well as several smaller groups, which were not subject to the analysis herein. Various positive and negative adjectives and picturesque expressions about Arabs have been analysed. The most frequent among them can be classified into the following categories: hygiene, degree of development, character traits, attitude towards others and the way of expressing emotions

The dissertation analyzes the poetics of masquerade songs, which were cultivated in Dubrovnik during the 16th century. Researching the masquerade songs entailed a methodological plurality and wide perspectives comprising the fields of literary and cultural history and literary theory. In the dissertation, the external approach, which implies consulting the reference works related to the sociological aspects of carnival, as well as a survey of the historical circumstances in Dubrovnik, is combined with the internal approach, inherently connected to the close reading and examination of the texts. In the case of the masquerade songs, these two approaches are in agreement, considering that the role of these songs in the life of Dubrovnik certainly influenced the characteristics of the genre poetics. The dissertation points to the distinctive features of this syncretic genre, which gained its full significance during the festive, carnival days, when it was performed by masked groups or individuals, who were dancing, singing and acting. We present a literary-historical survey of the masquerade-song writers (Mavro Vetranović, Nikola Nalješković, Andrija Čubranović, Antun Sasin, Sabo Bobaljević, Horacije Mažibradić) and examine the specific features of their corpora of Carnival poetry. Furthermore, the dissertation explores the influence of the Italian carnival poetry and the Dubrovnik literary tradition (Petrarchan poetry, folk literature, etc.). Aside from the comparative analyses, we have unveiled the indigenous characteristics of the Dubrovnik masquerade songs, as well. Also included are the analyses of the masquerade songs by anonymous authors, along with the assumptions about why the names of these authors have remained unknown. In organizing the dissertation chapters we follow, primarily, the chronological principle. In cases when it is important to emphasize the relation of masquerades by different authors, the chronological principle is combined with the typological organization (the chapters Dubrovnik Slave-Women, Dubrovnik Jedjupkas). We introduce some assumptions about why this genre lost its popularity in the 17th century. In addition to this, we examine the corpus of literary works written in the pattern of the Dubrovnik masquerade songs (poems of Ignjat Djurdjević, Marko Bruerović, Antun Kazančić). In our concluding remarks, we offer our views on the artistic reach of the Dubrovnik masquerade songs and their significance in the history of the Dubrovnik literature

Izrada i analiza anotiranog korpusa persijskog jezika kao stranog

Lingvistički korpusi predstavljaju značajan izvor i sredstvo analize empirijskih jezičkih podataka. Linguistic corpora constitute reliable sources and empirical means for analyzing linguistic data. They are also widely used in the fields of Second/Foreign Language Acquisition and Foreign Language Teaching research, where the most commonly used type are Learner Corpora. The present thesis, based on a methodological approach for building a learner corpus, is generally in line with the domain of error analysis and the field of Learner Corpus Research. The thesis describes the process of constructing and developing an errortagged Persian learner corpus, called the Salam Farsi Learner Corpus (SFLC), as well as an analysis of linguistic errors based on a collection of written texts produced by Serbian learners of the Persian language. Three major stages, namely, constructing the corpus, proposing a system of error annotation and developing tools and software, were followed, and the practical phases such as the systematic collection of data and metadata, defining the corpus design criteria, creating the error tagsets and developing the corpus interface, software and specific tools are described. The SFLC software is equipped with four main tools in order to function as an error-tagged learner corpus and provide the statistical reports. These tools include a tool for submitting data and metadata into the corpus database, a computer-aided error editor to facilitate error tagging, filters and search, and data statistics tools which show various statistical data related to the corpus. Based on the SFLC statistical reports, the frequency and error distribution in the whole corpus and the comparison of error distributions across different proficiency levels are discussed. The corpus statistics show that the most frequent errors made by the Serbian learners of the Persian language are initially to be found in the domain of orthography, while later on the most frequent errors lie in the domains of lexis and syntax. Word Order is marked as the most frequent error type in the corpus as a whole. As for the distribution of errors across specific proficiency levels, the results show that the total number of errors drops from level A2 to level C1, while errors in syntax increase, due to the use of more vii complex syntactic structures at higher proficiency levels. The SFLC not only provides authentic data gathered from learners at different proficiency levels, but also statistics regarding error tags and metadata. Research into Persian as a second/foreign language thus can clearly benefit from the SFLC as a resource

Serbian lexicology today: Current achievements and perspectives

    No full text
At the turn of 21st century Serbian lexicology is under the influence of the Slavic (predominantly Russian) and Anglo-Saxon semanticists. Different semantic theories are used in language analyses in Serbian papers. Since the 1970s componential analysis had been a leading theory, but as of the 1990s Serbian lexicology has come under the influence of cognitive linguistics. There are more and more interdisciplinary investigations where linguistics is interwoven with psychology, communicology, and sociology. Often, lexicology is interwoven with other linguistic disciplines, such as syntax, word formation, morphology, stylistics, etc. Recently, some semantic studies have been conducted from the pragmatic viewpoint. Depending on the object of the analysis and the theory chosen, different research methods are used, such as collocational, associative, and additionally, various types of syntactic and semantic approaches are taken. The focus of interest is semantics of words, and less frequent of morphemes or sentences. The future of Serbian lexicology lies in promoting an interdisciplinary approach, and its relation with other linguistic disciplines and other nonlinguistic sciences. The Implementation of Cooperative Learning of Spanish as a Foreign Language in Serbia

    No full text
This paper is an intention to survey if teachers of Spanish as a foreign language in Serbia follow the precepts of the new trends in FLT and if they apply in class the knowledge acquired in training seminars, including the techniques of interactive learning. For this purpose a questionnaire containing 14 questions has been elaborated. Eleven teachers of Spanish as a foreign language participated in the research, and then we carried out a qualitative analysis of their answers. The analysis shows that Serbian teachers do use the cooperative learning strategies in their classes, although they are not always aware of it. The results also reveal an evident eagerness to motivate students and enable, them to be autonomous as a long-term goal. Additionally, the investigation shows that the teacher training seminars give positive results; therefore, the evaluation of cooperative learning methods should also be included among possible future seminar topics
