Transdisciplinary qualitative paradigm in applied linguistics: autoethnography, participatory action research and minority language teaching and learning*
The paper emphasizes the crucial importance of transdisciplinary approach to qualitative research methodology in teaching and learning contexts involving highly stigmatized minority languages. Autoethnography and participatory action research are herein employed as constructive, critical, qualitative methodological procedures relevant to transdisciplinary research on minority languages in applied linguistics. An international project on teaching and learning Romani, QUALIROM, is used as a case study in order to emphasize the fact that mere theoretical knowledge and professional expertise are important but not sufficient for successful implementation and sustainability of outcomes in this field of linguistic research. The analysis suggests that socially engaged minority language learning and teaching projects should be understood as transdisciplinary, collaborative activities that transcend academic boundaries, and in which research participants create a number of interactive contexts within project-oriented communities of practice aimed at reshaping dominant social relations and practices
Lexical variation of the equivalents of Rome dialect vulgar expression mortacci in serbian translation of Pasolini's novel the street boys [Leksička varijacija ekvivalenata dijalektalnog vulgarizma mortacci u srpskom prevodu pazolinijevog romana iskusni m
Pasolini's novel Ragazzi di vita (The Street Kids, translated by Ann Goldstein, 2016) is characteristic for the presence of Roman dialect in dialogues and recursive vulgar expressions (cazzo, vaffanculo, stronzo, mortacci). These two stylistic instruments contribute to perceive the main characters of this novel as socially deeply marginalized individuals lacking almost any formal education and prone to criminal activities and fraud. The Serbian translation of this novel (Iskusni momci, by Gordana Subotić, 2015) shows two major defects: one is due to the constraints of Serbian language, which generally does not have the means to replicate in Serbian the parallel usage of literal language and dialect in foreign language prose. Unlike Serbian, Croatian language showed the capability to include in the translation of Gadda's novel That Awful Mess on the Via Merulana (by William Weaver, 1985) Dalmatian dialect alongside Croatian literal language, preserving the “bilingualism” of the Italian text. However, a major (though evitable) defect of the Serbian translation is represented by the choice of Serbian translator to vary, with no apparent reasons, the most dominant vulgar expression in the novel, mortacci (translated in English as “go to hell!”, although other equivalents also match its meanings, like “damn”, “shit”, “fuck (you)” and the like). In the Serbian translation we found 27 equivalents for the 45 occurrences of mortacci, but only a small part of them keep the necessary degree of vulgarity, while other equivalents are either euphemistic or anachronistic. Unmotivated lexical differentiation of this vulgar expression produces a shifted perception of the main characters, of their psychology and their social status. Thanks to the abundance of lexical equivalents, their language seems to be less violent, more controlled and inoffensive, in contrast with their behavior and actions. This distorted perception is particularly alarming because Pasolini is an important Italian author and his works should be translated, ideally, with most accuracy and coherence because of the influence that important and renowned authors have among foreign readers, critics and, potentially writers

The Work of Milan Milišić and the Heritage of Dubrovnik Literature
A part of Milan Milišić’s oeuvre – two poems (“When God Was Creating Dubrovnik” and “Popiva’s”) and an essay (“Pomet’s Letter to Laus”) – are the paradigmatic examples of the author’s specific creative dialogue with the work of Marin Držić. This relation is reflected on the intertextual plane in quotations, allusions, the reconstruction of Držić’s dramatic characters, and (re-)stylization of his topics. All these layers are elements of the conceptual and notional interference with a traditional template, through which Milišić’s work, to a certain extent, poetically and stylistically ties in with the heritage of Dubrovnik literature
Transpozicija istorijske stvarnosti u pismima Đambatiste Marina
Reality of lies and falsehood of realism
The hermeneutic potential of lies in literature is conditioned by the category of referentiality. At the moment when the dichotomy of the literary type of liars and in general the category of lies are taken into account, referentiality becomes suppositional. Cases of their unambiguous indexing in course of a negative axiology in post-Renaissance literature are less common than those that reveal complex semantics and dialectics of lies (for example, deception and self-denial, mystification, forgery, simulation, defamation, disinformation, pathological lie, half-truths, manipulation and distortion of facts, covering up of facts, etc.). Legal and social condemnation of these moral and criminal lies in the space of fiction are replaced by readers' indulgence. In the free zone of fiction lies appear as a poetic liberation of imagination, as a license to freedom to see everything and talk about everything, because of which the users of ars fallendi must admit the alluring quality of narrating lies
How we hear colours and see sounds: on synesthesia in Spanish language and poetry
In this paper we consider the concept of synesthesia in the Spanish language and literature. At the linguistic level, we present the common constructions in the Spanish based on synesthesia. The present corpus has been extracted from the combinatory dictionary of Spanish and completed by examples from the dictionary DRAE and the corpus CREA. At the literary level, we consider synesthetic creations in poetry written in the Spanish Language from the end of the XIX and the beginning of the XX century, particularly the poets of the Generation 27. The analysis shows that in the lexicalized synesthetic constructions the adjectives from tactile domain are the most frequent in specifying nouns from other sensual domains, whereas the olfactory adjectives as synesthetic qualificators are not present at all. In poetry, the sight domain prevails, particularly colours. Besides synesthesia in the strict sense of the word, we also present examples of synesthesia where the basic senses specify feelings and impressions. Finally, we draw attention to multimedia and multisensory synesthesia in the Spanish poetry of the XXI century
Nominalizations: A cognitive perspective
The paper makes an attempt at interpreting nominalization constructions from
a cognitive perspective. We are focusing solely on constructions which
present a new model of government with regard to the initial sentence
proposition: the transformation V+Acc provides the following nominalizations
N(v) + na + Acc, N(v) + k + Dat, N(v) + nad + Inst, N(v) + o + Loc in
Russian. In Serbian a similar result is observed and the attention is paid to
the following transformational relationship: V + Gen → N(v) + od + Gen.
