No full textThis book is based on the principle that history is not, and never will be, independent of the men who construct it. And these men, as well as their actions, will never be independent of their roots, their culture and their education. That is why this story – here with a lowercase "h" – begins in 1931, when Gorbachev was born, and extends to Christmas Day 1991, when the USSR was abolished and the red flag in the Kremlin gave way to the tricolour flag of the Russian Federation. Between this time rage, equivalent to a lifetime, is the journey of a leader who, before he was one, was a child, a little pioneer, a young apparatchik, a rising star in the upper strata of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU), an authentic product of the system, in whom the chimerical hope of rebuilding Sovietism was placed. Gorbachev is this tragic hero, as one of his biographers, William Taubman, calls him. To understand the tragedy and what is heroic about it, it is necessary to know it since 1931, trying to observe reality through its eyes.

This book brings together most of the papers presented at the 30th edition of the International Annual Meetings in Political Studies (now called Estoril Political Forum), which started in 1993, in Arrábida. This 30th edition took place on June 27-29, 2022, at the Palácio Estoril Hotel – the hotel of the Anglo-American allies during World War II. The general title was Confronting the Authoritarian Challenge.
We were fewer than 20 participants in Arrábida in 1993. In June 2022, at the Palácio Estoril Hotel, our 30th edition, we have had 749 registered participants. How did this happen? Very simply, in my view, by the excitement of ideas. We came together in 1993 because we shared an attachment to, and a curiosity about, some ideas that were not vulgar. And our meetings have grown because more and more people have been attracted by these ideas. The same ideas have been the source of the launch of our Institute for Political Studies (IEP) at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in 1996: we had 40 students at the MA program that we launched in 1996. Get PDFCatólica Porto Law School of Portugal annually awards dozens of students a master\u27s degree in law, in seven areas of specialization, as well as a master\u27s degree in law and management. In order to give visibility to the result of the research, the Católica Porto Law School took the decision to publish the master\u27s dissertations that obtained the highest classifications. Thus, the best master\u27s dissertations whose exams have been completed until December 8 of the previous calendar year are published annually. This dissemination allows us to share quality research with the rest of the scientific community. In addition, it is an incentive for the qualification of the research of master\u27s students in Law and in Law and Management. It is our conviction that this initiative contributes to a fruitful sharing of knowledge and that it allows the opening of a path of dialogue with the legal community and civil society. This issue includes thirty-one dissertations. They are presented in alphabetical order by author and cover areas as diverse as Criminal Law, International and European Law, Company and Business Law, Labour Law, Administrative Law, Tax Law, and Private Law.
The coordination of this project intends to publicly acknowledge the meticulous and dedicated work of Dr. Isabel Ferreira.A Escola do Porto da Faculdade de Direito da Universidade Católica Portuguesa atribui, anualmente, a dezenas de estudantes, o grau de mestre em Direito, em sete áreas de especialização, bem como o grau de mestre em Direito e Gestão. Com o intuito de dar visibilidade ao resultado da investigação, a Escola do Porto da Faculdade de Direito tomou a decisão de publicar as dissertações de mestrado que obtiveram as mais elevadas classificações. Assim, são publicadas, anualmente, as melhores dissertações de mestrado cujas provas se tenham realizado até ao dia 8 de dezembro do ano civil anterior. Esta divulgação permite partilhar investigação de qualidade com a demais comunidade científica. Para além disso, constitui um incentivo para a qualificação da investigação dos mestrandos em Direito e em Direito e Gestão. É nossa convicção que esta iniciativa contribui para uma profícua partilha de conhecimento e que permite a abertura de uma via dialogante com a comunidade jurídica e a sociedade civil. O presente número integra trinta e uma dissertações. São apresentadas por ordem alfabética de autor e abarcam áreas tão diversas como o Direito Criminal, o Direito Internacional e Europeu, o Direito da Empresa e dos Negócios, o Direito do Trabalho, o Direito Administrativo, o Direito Fiscal, e o Direito Privado.

The objective was not only to discuss the concept of legal personality, but also to analyze the repercussions that the evolution of science and technology, typical of the twenty-first century, have on the determination of its content and regime, not neglecting of course the protection granted to the eminently personal property. Again, as is characteristic of this forum of scientific debate, the approach to the theme was interdisciplinary, bringing together different areas of knowledge, such as Constitutional Law, Civil Law, International Law, Corporate Law, Law tax law or criminal law.Neste número, as Católica Talks foram dedicadas ao tema Direito e Personalidade.
