    Reconceptualising Africanising, and its positioning in history teaching and learning through regional and microspatial-planned programmes

    In the past 60 or more years, African scholarly debates on education touched on Africanising and decolonising teaching and learning. Africanised pedagogies should be cognisant of the necessity to sensitise twenty-first century students to diverse scholarly and community voices as they become more accessible as learning possibilities. Equally so, present-day complex contexts in which people live because of the past, requires a more intense regional conversation. With these realities in mind, the authors, both familiar with the field of regional history and seasoned in the teaching of history, engaged in a research project to concisely, yet deeply, reflect on the historiography of Africanising. Secondly, to determine whether regional, and microspatial history variations can be deployed as facilitating agencies of Africanised educational, the authors felt that it is de-ontologised from its former politically attachment. While the historiography emanated mostly from qualitative desktop research, the study that covered the Vredefort Dome region’s value for understanding some curricula topics by considering the histories ‘around us’ had been recently intensively researched for the completion of a PhD. The outcome of this research has been mostly applied as experiential examples in this revisited debate on Africanising in teaching history and the features related to it, form part of this discussion. In engaging with the literature and research conducted in an applied analytical way allows the authors to affirm the possibilities of ‘Africanising’ the teaching of history with the involvement of local communities in the recovery of their memories and for researchers to consider its possibilities in microspatial contexts as a steppingstone towards African-inspired educational thought and scholarship.

    Hierdie artikel handel hoofsaaklik oor die subjektiwiteit van Suid-Afrikaanse vroue bespreek vanuit die oogpunt van vergifnis en versoening. Die prosesse van die Waarheids- en Versoeningskommissie (WVK) word as fokuspunt gebruik om oor die posisie van vroue na te dink. Die getuienis van ’n moeder voor die WVK asook ander narratiewe word bespreek teen die agtergrond van die konsep van “weiering” soos mee omgegaan binne die post-apartheid regsleer. Daar word gepoog om aan te dui dat die prosesse van die WVK bygedra het tot die huidige posisie van Suid-Afrikaanse vroue. “Weiering” word voorgehou as ’n moontlike alternatiewe benadering tot die reg wat eweneens alternatiewe moontlikhede na vore kan bring. In die artikel word daar voorgestel dat aandag aan die manlike kulturele orde geskenk moet word om sodoende die marginalisering van vroue aan te spreek. Verder word daar voorgestel dat die konsep van “weiering” die daaglikse lewe en stryd van Suid-Afrikaanse vroue kan uitlig en na vore bring

    Hierdie artikel weerlê die feit dat die reguleering van “spam” en direkte bemarking aanlyn nie holistiese aandag geniet nie en dat die gefragmenteerde benadering in terme van die Wet op Elektroniese Kommunikasies en Transaksies 25 van 2002, Wet op Verbruikers-beskerming 68 van 2008 en die Wet op Beskerming van Persoonlike Inligting 4 van 2013 ongewens is. Dit het die gevolg dat verbruikers onvoldoende beskerming geniet en ’n onvermoë van die reg om “spam” en direkte bemarking aanlyn effektief te beheer. Terwyl aanlyn direkte bemarking en “spam” tot ’n mate oorvleuel is “spam” ’n wyer konsep as direkte bemarking. Dit is belangrik om in gedagte te hou dat nie alle direkte bemarking “spam” is nie, en nie alle “spam” direkte bemarking is nie. Die beperking van die regulering van “spam” tot kommersiële kommunikasies of selfs die meer noue konsep, kommunikasies wat met direkte bemarking betrekking het, is nie voldoende nie omdat daar dan steeds baie verskillende tipes “spam” is wat nog ongereguleerd sal bly. Die artikel argumenteer dat hoewel onlangse regulatoriese veranderinge kan gesien word as ’n verbetering op die vorige posisie in sekere aspekte, is daar nog meer aspekte wat onaangeraak bly en daar is ’n paar bepalings wat nuwe probleme skep. Ten spyte van die onlangse veranderinge in die regulatoriese omgewing is dit waarskynlik dat verbruikers steeds blootgestel gaan word aan \u27n deurlopende stroom van nuusbriewe, meningsopnames, godsdienstige boodskappe, politieke inhoud, virus waarskuwings en virus bedrog, nuus, ketting briewe, haat-pos en noukeurige vervaardigde elektroniese kommunikasies wat bedrieglike of misleidende inhoud bevat
