Browsing Support System for a Blind Person with Motion Sensors

Fracture mechanism of CFRP bonded on flange of H-shaped steel beam
Get PDFapplication/pdfThree-points-bending tests on H-shaped steel beams are carried out to examine increase of stiffness of the beams that the flange with decrease thickness caused by corrosion is strengthened by CFRP reinforcing method. The beams with total length of flange bonded CFRP show increase of stiffness. The beams with partially bonding CFRP show segregation fracture of CFRP. The strains on edge of CFRP are measured to clarify the fracture mechanism and the strengthening design method of partially bonding CFRP is proposed to increase the stiffness of the beam with corrosion.departmental bulletin pape
Energy absorption distribution of self-centering frame structure with wedge-device connection
Get PDFapplication/pdfEarthquake-response analysis of the frame structure with the wedge-device connection was carried out to evaluate story deformation angle and horizontal load-carrying capacity. Energy absorption capacity of the frame is investigated in this paper. Earthquake response analysis of the structure with some kinds of the connections as variable shows the result that the frame with the wedge-device connection absorbs less energy capacity than the rigid frame.departmental bulletin pape

Revisit to Modelling Global Annual Average Temperature - A Parametric Approach
Get PDFapplication/pdfGlobal annual average temperature is regarded as a precise indicator of the warming of the globe over centuries and if we track the available record on it, it is observed that the available period of 133 years (1980-2012) can be partitioned into three distinct phases, 1880-1936, 1937-1980 and 1981- 2012, based on temperature variation pattern (Pal et al., 2013). The content of the said paper deals with the development of models, parametric and nonparametric, which produce high precision levels (as measured by value of R2 coefficient) as high as 0.84. In this paper, a class of parametric models has been developed which is a combination of three mathematical functions, namely, cubic, exponential and trigonometric, respectively. An extensive search of models belonging to the abovementioned class identifies four different models whose R2 values lie within the range, 0.826 to 0.860 as a distinct improvement in the value of R2 vis-a-vis the precision level, over that obtained in Pal et al. Tidal current is the periodic energy which can be predicted, therefore it can expect to supply energy stably. In Seto Inland Sea, many straits and Seto regions exist, and it is known that tidal current energy will be amplified because a tidal current becomes quick. Therefore, the power generation technology which utilized current energy attracts attention. This study estimated the possibility of the tidal current power generation in Seto Inland Sea by performing local observation. At first time, the amount of maximum energies was calculated by observing the tidal current of Seto Inland Sea.
