The study is an analysis of the role of media with the main aim to highlight the actual scenario and problems of the society which is a culturally and relatively intermixed district bordering with Pakistan lasting around five decades viz. for the period 1947 to present. Although the scope of this study is not very vast it is a limited one specifically covering a particular area of the of Jammu and Kashmir, but it will be very much helpful for understanding and highlighting the similar problems faced by number of other similar areas of the of the same Union Territory particularly and India generally which are facing many problems due to borders with neighboring countries and also having cultural affinities. The purpose of this study is to spread awareness among the backward and ignorant masses as well as to the authorities so that all the opportunities in this era of information and communication technology are fully utilized to make relation with their near and dear on the both sides of the border. For this media can play a very significant role as it is playing in other areas. But unfortunately even after 70 years of India’s independence the backward areas in every sphere are not at par with the other areas. Media is one of the most important tools which can prove for the good governance through e- governance. This study has been undertaken with the help of secondary as well as primary data through quantitative as well as qualitative approaches. Furthermore at the preliminary stage the focus has been paid more on secondary sources of information by reviewing the existing available literature on the subject matter. Primary data has been taken through the living experiences in such areas since childhood and by interviewing scholars, teachers, and students from such areas. It also important to mention here that there is very little information available in existing literature with specificity of the role of media with respect to a bordering, backward and culturally intermixed area of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Thus it is believed that this study can yield good results and will add something new to the existing literature

    Get PDF
Compost is a simple way of creating what scientists call a positive feedback loop. This study was conducted to determine the pH, N, P, and moisture content; the number of days to decomposition; the percent recovery of composted substrates; and the return on cash expense of producing the formulated sunflower-based compost. The substrates used in the study were wild sunflower, grass, alnus leaves and banana bract. These were composted until it becomes recognizable. The grass, alnus leaves, and banana bract are constant in weight which is 10 kg each, only the sunflower varied in rate. Different rates of wild sunflower in the treatments were the following: T1=10 kg, T2=20 kg, T3=30 kg, T4=40 kg and T5=50 kg. Results showed that chemical and moisture contents of formulated wild sunflower-based compost were not affected by the different rates of wild sunflower except N. Treatment 4 (4:1:1:1 of wild sunflower, grass, alnus leaves and banana bract) obtained the highest N content with 3.21 %. The lowest was registered from the formulation of 1:1:1:1 of wild sunflower, grass, alnus leaves and banana bract (T1) with 2.21 %. The higher the rate of wild sunflower, the early and the higher are the number of days to decompose and the percentage of its recovery, respectively. Treatment 5 (5:1:1:1 of wild sunflower, grass, alnus leaves and banana bract) gained a higher return on cash expense with 13.05 %

Cloud-Based AI solutions for credit card fraud detection with feedforward neural networks in banking sector

    Get PDF
The increasing complexity of fraud strategies, combined with the rapid increase in transaction volumes, makes credit card fraud detection an important area of consideration in the banking sector. Due to the complexities of fraudulent behavior in the context of large transaction sizes, traditional techniques for fraud detection based on rules have become incapable of meeting the challenge. Cloud-based AI solutions based on Feedforward Neural Networks (FNNs) provide the best option when looking for an advanced adaptive approach. This solution benefits from cloud storage to provide highly efficient management of large volumes of transactional data with maximum scalability and flexibility. FNNs aid in differentiating and recognizing complex fraud patterns, while cloud technology ensures that such a system is proficient in adjusting to transaction volume fluctuations. The integration of these technologies resulted in the model achieving a 99.89% accuracy, 98.67% precision, and 95.76% recall. The F1-score of 96.78% shows a balanced performance in precision versus recall. This convergence of AI and cloud technologies promotes accurate fraud transaction detection with reduced false-positive responses and the possibility of continuous adaptation to new fraud schemes. All said, Cloud-Based AI with FNNs is a system that is most potent to secure financial transactions and customers\u27 interests in the banking sector

    Get PDF
Language is a system of communication which consists of a set of sounds and written symbols and used by people of a particular country or region in order to talk or write. Thus, it should be a tool for communication, not a barrier. However, in a multilingual country like Sri Lanka, the minority language speakers face a lot of problems in several domains. In the Sri Lankan state universities, the situation is the same. Sinhala being the language of the majority, they encounter many challenges in academic and non-academic settings. The present study focused on the challenges faced by the undergraduates who speak Tamil as their “mother tongue”. In most cases, the medium of instruction is not the same in the tertiary as it was in the secondary levels. Therefore; this situation has negatively affected their academic performance and also caused communication problems when they interact within the university community on daily basis. This research attempted to investigate whether the authorities have implemented necessary policies and taken steps to enact those in order to prevent any psychological burden the undergraduates would face. The participants of the study were 100 undergraduates from state universities of Sri Lanka who speak minority languages. The study used both quantitative and qualitative methods to obtain data. The quantitative data gathered from the questionnaire were analyzed using SPSS whereas qualitative data from the interviews were analyzed thematically. The findings indicated that the undergraduates face problems in both the academic and non-academic settings. Although the constitution demonstrates some policies which are supposed to provide assistance to prevent such circumstances, a mismatch between the policies and practice exists. The data obtained from this study are of relevance to policymakers, researchers, and instructors

    Get PDF
This chapter simply discussed how political communication has been carried out in this age of social media. Political communication is the communication of political ideologies by the political communicator to the audience who happen to be the electorates. Like the regular communication process, it also uses both the traditional media and the new media. Politicians however, have started employing fake news and hate speech in the content of their political messages. Fake speech are of three types: misinformation, disinformation and malinformation. With more and more people relying on social media for as a source for news, there are worries that such content could influence audiences unable to distinguish truth from fact or news from propaganda. From television to radio, to cinemas, to music, to newspaper, books, social media, etc., politicians use everything and anything to communicate to their audience. Politicians employ political advertising to reach out to their teeming supporters and followers. These political advertising are incorporated with adverting jingles (especially on radio). The basic elements of political communication are: ideology, propaganda and persuasion. The researcher however, concluded that politicians, not only in Nigerian, but the world over, although they are much in Nigeria, have taken political communication and its approach to a totally different and negative height by employing hate speech and fake news in their campaign messages. Rather than taking their time to inform the electorates of their plans for them and how they wish to achieve it, they spend all day and energy on insulting and de-marketing the opponents through hate speech and fake news. They don’t stop there, they also make inciting posts on social media which often leaves their gullible followers to be at loggerheads all the time
