On the Migrant and Visa Systems of CEE Countries within the Context of EU Policy for Eastward Enlargement
Get PDFapplication/pdfNearly ten years after the fall of the Berlin wall have fundamentally changed the pattern of migration in Central and Eastern Europe and in Europe as a whole. The most significant migration trend affecting the CEE region in 1998 and 1999 has been the massive displacement from Kosovo as a result of ethnic conflict. Nearly a quarter of those displaced claimed asylum in Western and Central Europe or turned to professional smugglers for assistance in order to enter Western Europe illegally. As a result, illegal migration from the CEE to Western Europe rose significantly within the coming years as EU enlargement approaches. The CEE have wihtin a decade become target countries and transit region for an increasing number of asylum seekers from developing countries, as Bangladesh, Pakistan, India and China. Given that a number of Central European countries are expected to join the EU within the next few years, this trend will grow in international political issues. The relationship between student ratings of teaching, satisfaction with the class, and taking-credits. － Are students who failed to take credits dissatisfied with the class? －
Get PDFapplication/pdfThe purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between student ratings of teaching, satisfaction with the class, and taking-credits. Ninety-three undergraduate students answered the questionnaire. The analysis was conducted according to the data (Makino, 2002 a). A 2 (the results of taking-credits : pass, fail) x2 (announcement of the results : before the announcement, after the announcement) factorial design was used. The student ratings of teaching and satisfaction with the class were dependent variables. The results are as follows : (l) Taking-credits and their announcement to the students have much effect on the student ratings of teaching. Students who failed the class tend to undererate the class after they became aware of the class results. (2) Taking-credits and their announcement to the students of their grades also have much effect on class satisfaction. Students who failed were more dissatisfied with the class than those who passed afiter they became aware of the class results

These belief and rites have often been provoked of the contradictory reaction from Western peoples, especially among the pious Christians until now. On the global point of view, sacrifices especially in the case of human being are distinguished by their practices into two types ; by burning, holocaust, and by burials. Celts belong to holocaust, so-called bloodless human sacrifices, as seen in "The Conquest of Gaul" , and the Hindu as well. On the contrary, Japanese and Chinese belong to the latter ; burials ; Hitogaki in Japan and Heibayo in China, as seen substituted for the sacrifices of the living being. In these countries, human sacrifices had been offered as the sacrificial gift, but the practices were often put under the ban ; Rome in B.C.97 ; China in A.D.502～19 ; Japan in A.D.646. Recently they were replaced by any living being as bloodless offerings as foods and drinks. These shift may also be due to the suppressions of an newer religions, especially Christianity and Buddhism. Get PDFapplication/pdfThe present study was designed to examine the effects of a signed or anonymous questionnaire on student ratings of teaching. Forty-five undergraduate students took part in a survey by completing a questionnaire, once after the final lecture and then again just before the final examination. They signed the questionnaire the first time, and filled it out anonymously the second time. These two types of student ratings of teaching were compared. The student ratings of teaching and satisfaction with the class were dependent variables. It is hypothesized that when the students signed the questionnaire their evaluation of teaching was higher than when they were anonymous because the teacher will evaluate them later. The results were as follows : (1) There was no difference in ratings of teaching between a signed questionnaire and an anonymous questionnaire. (2) There was no difference in satisfaction with the class between those two types of questionnaires. The hypothesis was not supported. That is because the students in the anonymous questionnaire evaluated teaching so highly that a comparison cannot be drawn to support the hypothesis when the anonymous questionnaire is compared to the signed questionnaire
