application/pdfThe balance between work and childcare for working mothers is important in Japan’s measures to stop the declining birthrate. Previous research has shown factors limiting the balance between work and childcare, among which childcare support is a key factor. For the purpose of this study, a questionnaire survey on “balancing work with childcare and nursing care” was used to collect working women’s responses. These findings show that childcare services, relatives’ and spouse’s support, childcare support system, and relieving stress can affect the positive feeling towards childcare and restore the balance between work and childcare. The results confirm that mothers demonstrate a greater amount of positive feelings towards childcare, when they utilize sufficient childcare services and receive increased support from their spouses, which reduces their childcare stress and anxiety. We also found that positive feelings towards childcare influences the balance between work and childcare
