    S´os置換の逆置換に関する2つの木の同一性の或る類似について

    Over the set of the open intervals formed by the consecutive pairs in nth Farey sequence, a natural surjection to the counterparts for (n − 1)th Farey sequence exists and defines a rooted tree having such open intervals as its nodes. Replacing each of the nodes of the rooted tree, i.e. an open interval, with the inverse of the S´os permutation which corresponds the interval by the Sur´anyi’s bijection defines another rooted tree, say Tree1. On the other hand, the authors showed that the set of permutations satisfying a certain congruential recurrence coincides with the set of the inverses of the S´os permutations. As an application, a surjection from the set of the permutations of degree n satisfying the congruential recurrence to the set of the counterparts of degree n − 1 was defined, then the procedure to find the inverse image of the surjection was used to present a method that constructs the inverses of S´os permutations of every degree recursively without referring to the Farey sequences. The sequence formed by such surjections defines another rooted tree, say Tree2. They showed that Tree1 and Tree2 are in fact identical. Also, in [Nagata and Takei, Bull. Fac. Pharm. OMPU, 2023], they introduced the ranking table as a 2- dimensional version of the inverse of a S´os permutation and discussed a map which can be considered as the 2-dimensional counterpart of the Sur´anyi’s bijection. A computer experiments showed that for all a finite number of the cases tested, the maps are indeed bijections. They also showed that such a map restricted to the set of the ranking tables which are Young tableaux (Young ranking tables for short) yields a bijection (which is referred to as yet another Sur´anyi’s bijection below). Further, in [Nagata and Takei, Bull. Fac. Pharm. OMPU, 2024], they presented a number of relations that a ranking table satisfies as a finite double sequence and their implications on the properties of the ranking tables. This paper studies analogues of the above two rooted trees Tree1 and Tree2, in which “Sur´anyi’s bijection” is replaced with “yet another Sur´anyi’s bijection” and “permutations satisfying a certain congruential recurrence” is replaced with “subsequences of double sequences satisfying a certain condition” respectively. After presenting the definitions of these rooted trees, for each of the surjections appearing there, the procedure to invert it is shown. Also, it is made clear that the set of the nodes of a generation of Tree1-analogue has an embedding to the set of the nodes of the same generation in Tree2-analogue. This means that a set of nodes of Tree2-analogue including all such nodes corresponding to the Young ranking tables are able to be produced recursively using only additions, subtractions and comparisons of integers. An experiment using a computer program depending on the above procedures shows that Tree1-analogue and Tree2-analogue are identical up to their 1000th generations.departmental bulletin pape

    カタカナ語の対応を持つ医療用語の聴解力に関する調査

    University students in medical fields must learn a significant number of katakana words (English loanwords in this study) as technical vocabulary, and our previous study suggests that such katakana words can be used to aid learning English for reading. In the present study, we conducted listening tests to examine whether katakana words can also be useful for listening comprehension. The 64 participants studied 350 basic medical terms including ones with katakana counterparts for 10 weeks in Spring 2023. They were given listening pre- and post-tests on the meanings of 30 terms, which were categorized into three groups: 1) ones with katakana counterparts dominant in Japanese (e.g., ‘vaccine「’ ワクチン」), 2) ones with both Japanese equivalents and katakana counterparts with the former being pervasive (e.g., ‘stretcher’ 「担架・ストレッチャー」), and 3) ones without katakana counterparts (e.g., ‘palm’「手のひら」). The test results were compared with vocabulary tests from Fall 2021. The findings suggest that katakana words can be useful for understanding medical English words in both written and spoken forms, as they are already part of their vocabulary in Japanese.departmental bulletin pape
