    Designing a Questionnaire to Assess Corporate Sustainability in the Region of Augsburg in the Face of Global and Local Sustainability Challenges

    This paper introduces the project “Sustainability Performance Monitor A³” and its core element – a comprehensive questionnaire based on objective frameworks and designed to assess sustainability performance across all types of organizations in the greater region of Augsburg (A³). It further explains the objectives behind the questionnaire, its development process, and its conceptual logic: investigating in which areas sustainability measures are already being implemented (and where not) as well as uncovering reasons for lacking engagement. In order to build an understand-ing why organizational sustainability engagement is necessary at all, the paper also sets out the theoretical foundation to grasp the concepts Corporate Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility: The first part outlines global key sustainability challenges – such as climate change, biodiversity loss, resource overuse, and social inequalities – and their impact on the A³ region. The paper further argues why organ-izations must assume responsibility in addressing these issues and thereby sets the stage for outlining how the questionnaire has been designed

    Ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) are innovative materials that are increasingly being used in demanding applications such as aerospace and energy technology due to their high temperature resistance, strength and low density. Due to their high hardness, brittleness and abrasive behavior, these materials represent particular challenges in terms of processing, which is why specific strategies and adapted process parameters are required. An important topic in research is the energy saving in manufacturing processes of CMCs. In order to achieve this goal, a correlation between process parameters and component quality is developed in this paper
