No full textQuisiéramos vivir “bajo el sol de Dios” (Ecl. 8, 15), pero nos descubrimos bajo el sol de Satanás. Nadie más que Bernanos lo ha visto, y también lo ha sabido, pues la literatura alcanza lo que ni la filosofía ni la teología logran expresar, especialmente en lo que respecta al tormento del mal. Oculto bajo la figura del “maquignon picard”, y por tanto de un hombre ordinario, el diablo no se deja ver; prefiere disfrazarse. No existe el mal de un lado y el bien del otro en Bernanos, sino más bien “el mal bajo la figura del bien”. Tal es su suprema astucia, y también su modo más seguro de desenmascararnos. Confundiendo las fronteras, haciéndose pasar por nadie siendo alguien, prefiriendo el “Frío” del hielo al calor de las llamas, y yaciendo con el abad Donissan para quitarle su aliento, Satanás nos acecha siempre, menos para mostrarse que para atraparnos. Una “lectura filosófica” de estas páginas fulgurantes de Sous le soleil de Satan (encuentro del abad Donissan con el maquignon picard) elevará a Bernanos al rango de los más grandes pensadores católicos. Unveiling the impact of smart cities on green digital entrepreneurship: An empirical analysis of 175 cities worldwide
No full textThe development of green digital entrepreneurship has gained significant importance in smart cities around the globe. These ventures, which integrate digital technologies with sustainable practices, thrive in specific contextual environments that influence their emergence and growth. To examine this dynamic, we conducted a quantitative analysis of the relationship between smart city development and performance of green digital entrepreneurship ecosystems. Using a Negative Binomial Model and Poisson Regression with Pseudo Maximum Likelihood, our findings reveal a positive and statistically significant association between smart city development and green digital entrepreneurship ecosystem performance. Additionally, our analysis indicates a first-order autoregressive effect on the performance of these ecosystems. Based on these insights, we offer recommendations to policymakers, scholars, and practitioners to better understand and foster the growth of green digital entrepreneurship
The spinal cord
No full textThis chapter covers the general anatomy, development, and organization of the human spinal cord. It has 8 cervical, 12 thoracic, 5 lumbar, 5 sacral, and 1 coccygeal segments. It is formed by diverse neuronal populations (i.e., motor neurons, sensory neurons, spinothalamic neurons, interneurons), glial cells, and ascending and descending tracts that connect these cells with the brain and the rest of the body. The spinal cord is responsible for controlling the voluntary muscles of the limbs, trunk, viscera and blood vessels of the thorax, abdomen, and pelvis. Ascending and descending tracts are crossed at different levels, which allows a better understanding of spinal cord pathologies and syndromes
Relationship Between Body Composition and Physical Literacy in Chilean Children (10 to 16 Years): An Assessment Using CAPL-2
Get PDFObjectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the levels of physical literacy (PL) in school children (10 to 16 years) in Santiago, Chile, and to explore the relationship between PL and body mass index (BMI). In addition, gender and age differences were analyzed in relation to PL levels in a context where childhood obesity remains a public health challenge. Methods: A total of 439 students in grades 5–8 were assessed using the Canadian Assessment of Physical Literacy-2 (CAPL-2) questionnaire. Demographic variables (sex, age, and BMI) were correlated with levels of motivation to engage in physical activity and physical activity knowledge. Chi-square and effect size were applied. Results: The results revealed a significant correlation between motivation for physical activity and gender, with boys showing higher levels of motivation than girls (χ² = 12.403, p < 0.006). In addition, an inverse relationship was observed between BMI and motivation (effect size = 0.198), suggesting that more motivated children tend to have a healthier BMI. Knowledge about physical activity increased with age (χ² = 60.460, p < 0.001) but did not have a significant influence on BMI. Conclusions: The findings highlight the need to design gender-specific interventions that enhance motivation as a key factor in promoting a healthy lifestyle and physical activity adherence. Public health strategies should include motivation-driven approaches to foster physical literacy and long-term engagement in physical activity, particularly for girls, to address pediatric health challenges in Chile. Public health policies should address these factors to improve pediatric health outcomes
Theoretical and empirical models underlying the teaching use of LMS platforms in higher education: A systematic review
Get PDFThe Learning Management Systems (LMS) have garnered attention in Higher Education due to their significant potential as a robust learning tool; however, their mere existence does not guarantee adoption and acceptance. The objective of this study was to analyze quantitative research on the intention and usage of LMS among university professors. The method employed was a systematic review following PRISMA guidelines. Databases such as Scopus, WOS, EBSCOhost, and SciElo were explored from 2013 to 2023. The results indicated that (a) the most frequent objective was to determine factors influencing LMS usage, (b) the average number of participants was 239, (c) the highest productivity (61%) was observed in Asia, (d) the most common limitation about the sample, (e) the most frequently used theoretical model (69%) was the Technology Acceptance Model, (f) the models also included other variables grouped into personal, technological, social, and institutional factors; (g) The predictive power of the models on LMS usage intention was moderate, while for current LMS usage, it ranged from small to moderate; (h) measurements were self-reported; (i) ultimately, the majority measured only the intention of LMS usage (54%), 15% measured only the current usage of LMS, and 31% measured both. In conclusion, limitations, future research directions, and recommendations for the integration and consolidation of LMS usage by faculty are presented
Responses of the mussel Perumytilus purpuratus (Bivalvia, Mytilidae) to hydrodynamic conditions and the presence of predators
Get PDFThe intertidal mussel Perumytilus purpuratus exhibits phenotypic plasticity in response to predation threats, with these responses influenced by the mussels' perception of predation risk. These adaptations, however, are constrained by energy costs and interactions with environmental factors that may trigger synergistic effects or trade-offs among different fitness traits. In particular, this study focuses on the anti-predatory responses of P. purpuratus against the sea star Meyenaster gelatinosus, examining how the presence of the predator and water flow strength influence these responses. The research was conducted through laboratory experiments, comparing mussels from two distinct localities with varying predation risks posed by M. gelatinosus: Punta Hualpén, where the predator is naturally present, and Coliumo, where it is absent. The anti-predatory responses were assessed by measuring attachment strength, byssus production, and adductor muscle mass in the presence of predator cues. Additionally, potential costs associated with these responses were estimated using the gonadosomatic index as a measure of reproductive investment. The findings indicate that the anti-predatory responses of P. purpuratus are contingent on the mussel's origin, with adhesion strength and byssus production negatively impacting reproductive investment. Moreover, the study highlights the intricate interplay of multiple factors, as evidenced by the complex adaptive mechanisms observed in P. purpuratus. The interaction between predator presence and water flow strength and their combined effects on various traits underscores the need for comprehensive multifactorial experiments to understand these adaptive processes. In conclusion, this study provided valuable insights into the nuanced and site-specific nature of anti-predatory responses in P. purpuratus. The research emphasizes the importance of considering multiple factors and conducting comprehensive experiments to unravel the intricacies of adaptive mechanisms in prey species
View of inclusive mathematical education in the training of mathematics teachers
Get PDFLa formación del profesorado de matemática actualmente se encuentra con importantes desafíos por las demandas de las políticas públicas, es por este motivo que se necesita incluir nuevos paradigmas y temáticas transversales en la formación inicial de éstos. El monumentalismo, que aún se sigue utilizando en las aulas universitarias, enfatiza la memorización de los contenidos y el trabajo individual. En la mayoría de estas se continúa realizando clases de forma tradicional, donde, quien posee el conocimiento es el profesor y los estudiantes son receptores pasivos. En los escenarios laborales que enfrentará este profesorado encontrará una gran diversidad, alumnado con distintas maneras de aprender, formas de relacionarse con los demás y ritmos de aprendizaje. Por lo anterior es necesario que el profesorado de matemática en formación adquiera diversas estrategias, percepciones, reflexión sobre su práctica, experiencias y conocimientos para dar los apoyos a todo el estudiantado y favorecer el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje, de tal manera, que puedan sentirse preparados para entregar una educación de calidad a todos y todas. Esta investigación es de corte cualitativo se entrevistaron a futuros profesores de Matemática de universidad de la octava región, Chile. Construction of the professional identity of language teachers: Challenges and opportunities
Get PDFLa construcción de la identidad profesional docente es un proceso continuo y desafiante, influenciado por una interacción dinámica de factores y experiencias significativas. Desde la formación académica hasta el ejercicio profesional, las vivencias en aula y las relaciones dentro de la comunidad educativa moldean y redefinen esta identidad, adaptándola a contextos cada vez más exigentes. A fin de profundizar en estas ideas, el presente artículo explora tanto los factores internos como externos que determinan la construcción de la identidad profesional del profesorado de lenguaje. La investigación fue de naturaleza descriptiva con un enfoque cualitativo. En específico, se efectuó un estudio de casos de naturaleza interpretativa basado en las percepciones de los participantes. La muestra, no probabilística por conveniencia, estuvo conformada por 10 docentes noveles de lenguaje de enseñanza media, quienes participaron en entrevistas semiestructuradas. El procesamiento de la información consideró la transcripción de las intervenciones y un análisis del contenido temático, que evidenció tres hallazgos principales: 1. Factores que influyen en la construcción de la identidad del profesorado de lenguaje. 2. Desafíos en la construcción de la identidad del profesorado de lenguaje. 3. Oportunidades para el desarrollo profesional docente. Estos resultados ponen de relieve la complejidad asociada a la construcción de la identidad docente. Concretamente, se releva cómo diversos factores y desafíos interrelacionados influyen en la manera en que el profesorado se percibe en su rol y ejercicio profesional. Los hallazgos, en términos amplios, sugieren la necesidad de un entorno educativo positivo que fortalezca la identidad profesional, promoviendo un fuerte compromiso con la labor docente y un impacto en el estudiantado
Inclusive strategies for writing learning: A commitment from teachers to equity
Get PDFLa educación inclusiva es un cimiento de procesos complejos desarrollados en aula y su cometido es brindar a todo el estudiantado oportunidades de aprendizaje significativas. En este sentido, el compromiso del profesorado con la equidad se manifiesta a través de la selección de estrategias inclusivas que den respuesta a los diversos desafíos existentes. La presente investigación se propuso determinar la influencia de las estrategias inclusivas en el aprendizaje de la escritura. El estudio, que tuvo un diseño descriptivo y un enfoque mixto, consideró una muestra intencionada de 25 docentes de segundo ciclo de educación básica, quienes declararon utilizar estrategias inclusivas. La recopilación de los datos se llevó a cabo mediante un cuestionario y una entrevista semiestructurada. El procesamiento de la información incluyó la organización, codificación, análisis y triangulación de datos para validar los hallazgos y asegurar su fiabilidad. El análisis revela tres hallazgos significativos sobre las estrategias inclusivas en la enseñanza de la escritura. En primer lugar, el profesorado implementa estrategias centradas en las necesidades individuales del estudiantado para promover una participación comprometida. En segundo lugar, considera estrategias de evaluación y autorregulación que fomentan la retroalimentación efectiva y la metacognición. Por último, implementa estrategias de interacción y colaboración, que relevan el valor del trabajo en equipo y la construcción conjunta de conocimientos. Estos resultados destacan la necesidad de continuar avanzando en la implementación de estrategias inclusivas para asegurar que todo el estudiantado tenga acceso a un aprendizaje equitativo y enriquecedor
