Small-grain forage mixtures for silage: Yield and botanical, morphological and chemical composition
Get PDFIn small-scale dairy systems (SSDS), multispecies pastures and small-grain cereal silages have been shown to be a feasible option to cope with the possible effects of climate change, such as erratic rainfall patterns and temperature extremes. The objective of this study was to evaluate the agronomic variables and green forage and silage quality of a binary mixture of barley (Hordeum vulgare) and rye (Secale cereale) compared to a ternary mixture of barley, rye, and triticale (X Triticosecale Wittmack) in two zones (San Joaquín and Tixhiñú) in the Mexican central highlands. A complete randomized design with factorial arrangement was used with the two mixtures and two locations as factors. The binary crop showed a 13.3 cm greater height (P<0.05), and forage production was similar between mixtures (P>0.05). The ternary silage had 57.6 g kg-1 DM less neutral detergent fiber, 68.1 g kg-1 DM higher digestibility and higher metabolizable energy content and crude protein (P<0.05). The binary mixture was dominated by rye, a species with a high proportion of stem (74.4%), which influenced the quality parameters. The inclusion of triticale favored the quality of the ternary mixture, and in general, barley performed poorly. The ternary mixture of small-grain cereals did not show major agronomic benefits but did show quality benefits, making silage from this mixture a viable option for use in SSDS
Spatial variability of soil organic carbon fractions in areas under cultivation of Amazonian species in the southern region of Amazonas state, Brazil
Get PDFSoil organic carbon (OC) is heterogeneous and sensitive to agricultural management, so knowledge of its spatial variability can improve the monitoring of areas under anthropogenic influence, as OC can serve as a sensitive indicator of changes in the environment. The objective of this study was to evaluate the spatial variability of soil OC fractions in areas of cultivation with Amazonian species in the southern region of Amazonas state. A total of 256 georeferenced data points were collected in the 0.0–0.05 m and 0.05–0.10 m layers in the following agricultural systems: areas with cultivation of Guaraná, Annatto, Cupuaçu and forest. The OC contents were analyzed, and the chemical fractionation of soil organic matter was performed. The analytical results were evaluated through descriptive statistical analysis, and the spatial pattern was evaluated through geostatistical analysis. The conversion of natural ecosystems to agricultural systems affected the rates of addition and decomposition of soil organic matter. Changes in soil organic carbon stocks (SOC stock) due to the uses of different agricultural systems were determined by evaluating the free light fraction of soil organic matter. For the chemical fractions of organic matter, there was a predominance of the humin fraction (C-HU) in relation to the fractions of humic acid (C-FAH), fulvic acid (C-FAF) and OC associated with minerals (COAM) in the different land uses and soil layers analyzed. The geostatistical procedures proved to be important in determining the degree of carbon dependence and its fractionation in the context of spatial variability, and this information is useful in soil quality monitoring
Codocencia y roles profesionales en situaciones de crisis educativa: tensiones entre el individualismo y el profesionalismo colaborativo para responder a la diversidad
Get PDFThis qualitative study explored the co-teaching experience of four teaching dyads of the School Integration Program in Chile, specifically in relation to the configuration and exercise of their professional roles during COVID-19 confinement. Three recurring themes of tensions were identified: the perception of the professional role in terms of the students served, the willingness to work in co-teaching, and the protagonism of each co-teacher. These tensions reveal challenges in the delimitation of roles, resistance to collaborative work and demands for equitable participation, influenced by educational policies and power dynamics. The study highlights the need for greater integration and cooperation among teachers to enrich the educational experience, professional development and progress towards a more inclusive education.Este estudio exploró la experiencia de cuatro duplas docentes durante la situación de crisis educativa producto del confinamiento por COVID-19 en Chile. Se realizaron entrevistas grupales e individuales con el propósito de comprender el fenómeno de la codocencia y el papel que juegan el entendimiento e implementación de los roles profesionales en su puesta en práctica a partir de la identificación de tensio- nes entre docentes de educación primaria y educación especial. Por medio de un análisis temático reflexivo, se identificaron tres temas recurrentes de tensión: la percepción del rol profesional en función de las características del estudiantado destinatario de la acción docente, la disposición personal y profesional para trabajar en codocencia, y el nivel de protagonismo de cada codocente. Estas tensiones revelan desafíos en la delimitación de roles, resistencias al trabajo colaborativo y demandas de participación equitativa intervenidos por lineamientos de la política educativa y dinámicas de poder. El estudio permite visualizar elementos a conside- rar en posibles escenarios futuros de crisis y resalta la necesidad de una mayor colaboración profesional para enriquecer la experiencia educativa, el desarrollo profesional y el avance hacia una educación más inclusiva

No full textThe Rule of Saint Benedict (RB) has undergone a revitalization in the contemporary intelectual landscape, transcending its monastic origin to become a reference point for various social and philosophical movements.
By following this current hermeneutic logic, I propose a reading of RB through the lens of Enrique Dussel’s Philosophy of Liberation, with the aim of exploring its potential to offer a critique and an alternative to the prevailing development models of Modernity. In this framework, I distinguish a first poietic moment (nature-culture), focused on the analysis of the technological and civilizational revolution underlying RB; and a second praxistic moment (culture-culture), in which the Benedictine opus is highlighted as a paradigmatic example of the “New Economic Politics of Liberation”, that is, as an alternative proposal of social and cultural organization, capable of overcoming the limitations of Capitalism and Real Socialism of the 20th century, since it succeeds in fostering the reproduction of material life under ethical parameters.La Regla de San Benito (RB) ha experimentado una revitalización en el panorama intelectual contemporáneo, trascendiendo su origen monástico para convertirse en un referente para diversos movimientos sociales y filosóficos.
Siguiendo esta lógica hermenéutica actual, propongo una lectura de la RB a través de la lente de la Filosofía de la Liberación de Enrique Dussel, con el objetivo de explorar su potencial para ofrecer una crítica y una alternativa a los modelos de desarrollo imperantes de la Modernidad. En este marco, distingo un primer momento poiético (naturaleza-cultura), centrado en el análisis de la revolución tecnológica y civilizatoria subyacente a la RB; y un segundo momento praxístico (cultura-cultura), en el que se destaca el opus benedictino como un ejemplo paradigmático de la “Nueva Política Económica de Liberación”, es decir, como una propuesta alternativa de organización social y cultural, capaz de superar las limitaciones del Capitalismo y el Socialismo Real del s. No full textWilliam Rowe’s poetry emerges from two principal strands. Best known as a translator and scholar of major South American poets such as César Vallejo and Raúl Zurita, Rowe’s own work shares their concern with political violence, atrocity, and the space of freedom that might emerge in spite of death’s seemingly absolute encroachment on life. During the past decade or more, Rowe’s work has taken on new force (and expanded considerably in output) in a mutually productive encounter with a younger generation of poets based largely in Britain. This essay examines Rowe’s poems written in the years since the Conservative Party came to power in 2010, initially as part of a coalition government, which represent a furious, diagnostic response to the suffering wrought by the social cleansing attendant on the 2012 Olympics, the clampdown on “benefits” and associated programmes of “workfare,” the ruthless exploitation of unpaid labour, the deployment of anti-immigrant rhetoric, and policies of foreign intervention (what Rowe calls both “low intensity” and “high intensity” terror). Via Engels’ concept of “social murder” and Mbembe’s “necropolitics,” it focuses on the figure of death in Rowe’s poetry, including the deaths of politicians and the desaparecidos of South American dictatorships, ending on his writing of London’s geographies of power, and the possibility of revolutionary change
La inclusión vista como agencias en fricción
No full textInclusivity is a contemporary social discourse that calls for practices enabling equal, just, or fair access to resources and opportunities. Designers and researchers are increasingly requested and pressured to take an active role as agents of inclusion. However, many current framings take positive outlooks at face value and do not address the root causes of exclusion. As researchers affiliated with design, we offer a critical discussion of this concept by problematizing and reflexively engaging with it. We position the argument that inclusion is always a meeting of agencies. Instead of striving to adopt and affirm ideal types, we acknowledge the value of recognizing the agencies made visible through frictions, which invite possibilities for negotiation and refusal as outcomes. Hence, inclusion frames relational practices with results that cannot be controlled―meaning that positive and negative effects coexist as part of social dynamism.La inclusividad es un discurso social contemporáneo que aboga por prácticas que permitan un acceso igualitario, justo o equitativo a recursos y oportunidades. Cada vez más, se insta a las personas que diseñan e investigan a que asuman un papel activo como agentes de inclusión, y hasta se las presiona para ello. Sin embargo, muchos de los enfoques actuales toman las perspectivas positivas al pie de la letra, sin abordar las causas profundas de la exclusión. Como personas que investigamos en diseño, proponemos una discusión crítica de este concepto, problematizándolo y abordándolo de manera reflexiva. Sostenemos que la inclusión es siempre un encuentro de agencias. En lugar de esforzarnos por adoptar y afirmar tipos ideales, reconocemos el valor de identificar las agencias que se hacen visibles a través de fricciones que abren posibilidades para la negociación y el rechazo como resultados. La tutela fue rechazada ya que al momento de ser contratado ya se sabía que había dejado de ser sacerdote, y el demandante no acredita que haya existido una discriminación por este motivo.
