A Study on the Social Influence of Rokuro Koyama’s Hypothesis that Japanese and Tupi Languages Share the Same Origin : Focusing on Japanese Newspapers in Brazil.
本研究は,第二次世界大戦後におけるブラジル日本移民の自己表象の多様性を示す一環として,日本移民のブラジル国民統合モデルへの接近の一事例について,その社会的影響力の再評価を行うものである.ブラジルへの移民当初より日本人と先住民の類似性に注目していた香山六郎は,第二次世界大戦での日本敗戦を巡る日系コロニア内部の紛争が後を引いていた1951年に日本語と先住民語の小辞典を編纂した.香山による日本人と先住民の同祖論について,先行研究は1930年代以降ブラジルの国民統合モデルの重要な一要素となった先住民イメージへの日本移民の接近を試みたユニークな論であると評価する一方で,その社会的影響力を否定している.本研究では,日本語新聞等の資料を分析対象として,香山著作の出版及び頒布状況,当時のコロニアの主要言説空間と捉えられる日本語新聞上における香山論の展開への分析,ブラジル社会への香山論の伝播の可能性を検討することで,同論が当時のコロニアにおいて一定の社会的影響力を持っていたことを示す.The purpose of this study is to reevaluate the social influence of a case of Japanese immigrants’ approach to Brazil’s national integration model, as part of showing the diversity of the self-representation of Japanese immigrants in Brazil after World War II. Rokuro Koyama, a Brazilian Japanese immigrant who noticed similarities between the Japanese and indigenous peoples since the beginning of his immigration, compiled a small dictionary of Japanese and indigenous words in 1951, when the internal conflicts within the Brazilian Japanese immigrant community over the defeat of Japan in World War II were still occurring. While previous studies have evaluated Koyama’s discourse on the kinship between Japanese and indigenous peoples as unique in its attempt to bring Japanese immigrants closer to the image of indigenous peoples, something that has been an important element of Brazil’s national integration model since the 1930s, they deny its social influence. In this study, I used Japanese language newspapers and other sources as objects of analysis in order to examine the publication and distribution of the writings of Koyama, the spread of Koyama’s theory in Japanese language newspapers, and the possibility of the spread of Koyama’s theory to Brazilian society, thereby demonstrating that Koyama’s theory had a certain degree of social influence at the time.departmental bulletin pape

Association between Health Volunteer Awareness and Stage of Change, Decisional Balance in Medical Check-Ups in Area A of Nanjo City, Okinawa
目的:本研究は,地域住民における健康づくり推進員に対する認知状況と健診・検診受診行動との関連について,トランスセオレティカルモデル(Transtheoretical Model: TTM)の変容ステージ,意思決定バランスを適用して,検討することを目的とする.
方法:南城市A地区の20歳以上の地域住民470世帯を対象と無記名式質問紙調査を実施した.調査内容は,基本属性,健康づくり推進員に対する認知状況,健診・検診受診行動の変容ステージ,および意思決定バランスであった.健康づくり推進員の認知の有無と健診・検診受診行動の変容ステージ,意思決定バランスとの関連を検討した.
結果:回答が得られた73人のうち,不備を除いた67人を分析対象とした.健康づくり推進員に対する認知状況について,「知っている」割合は61歳以上が52.6%,60歳以下が24.1%と有意差がみられた(P= 0.02).健康づくり推進員に対する認知状況と健診・検診受診行動の変容ステージとの関連について,61歳以上で「認知群」の方が維持期の割合が高かった(P< 0.05).健康づくり推進員に対する認知状況と健診・検診受診行動の意思決定バランスとの関連について,60歳以下で「認知群」の方が恩恵得点(pros)は高く(P< 0.05),負担得点(cons)は低かった(P< 0.05).
考察:年代によって,結果にばらつきはみられたものの,健康づくり推進員の活動を認知している方が,健診・検診受診行動の意義を認識し,受診行動を行っていることが示唆された.Objective: The present study applied the Transtheoretical Model (TTM) of behavior change to medical check-ups. The purpose of this study was to clarify the association between awareness of health volunteers and the stage of change, decisional balance of TTM in medical check-ups among community-dwelling adults.
Method: A cross-sectional questionnaire survey was conducted. The research subjects were 470 households of local residents, aged over 20 years in Area A, Nanjo City. The questionnaire consists of sociodemographic characteristics, awareness of health volunteers, the stage of change, and decisional balance of TTM in medical check-ups. The association between awareness of health volunteers and the stage of change, decisional balance was examined using chi-square or T-test.
Results: The analysis included 67 adults. The ratio of maintenance stage was higher in the “aware group” than in the “non-aware group” among residents over 61 years (P < 0.05). Among those under 60 years old, the pros score was higher in the “aware group” than in the “non-aware group” (P < 0.05). The cons score was lower in the “aware group” than in the “non-aware group” (P < 0.05).
Discussion: The results suggest that those who are aware of health volunteers are more likely to get a medical check-ups.departmental bulletin pape
Effectiveness of Tutor-led Workshop in a Pre-entrance English Language Induction Program for High School Students : An Analysis of the Implementation Process and Outcome.
高校生は,新しく始まる大学生活に不安を感じると共に,高等教育機関での英語の授業に何を期待していいのかわからないことが多い.現在のCOVID-19の状況は,オンライン授業に慣れていないであろう高校生にさらなる不安を与えたことは容易に推測できる.高校生の不安を解消するために,英語力とコミュニケーション能力を向上させ,言語学習センター(LLC)のチューターと交流する機会を提供することを目的とし,3日間のオンライン英語ワークショップを実施した.本稿では,ワークショップの内容と実施プロセスおよびeラーニングプラットフォーム,参加者と関係するLLCチューターから得られたフィードバックの分析について概説する.ワークショップには58名の高校生(入学予定者)が参加し,週1回,3週間にわたって実施された.参加者はワークショップのほかに,旺文社が提供しているeラーニング教材「英検CAT」を自習学習教材として3カ月間参加した.ワークショップの内容について,参加者の55.6%が「非常に満足」,41.7%が「満足」と回答した.81.4%が内容は理解しやすいと答え,12.1%がどちらでもないと答え,6.5%が内容は少し難しいと答えた.高校生の90%が,オンライン授業を受けるために必要なスキルを得たと回答した.High school students are often anxious about their new university life and do not know what to expect in English classes at the tertiary level. Furthermore, students may feel apprehensive about classes that have to be conducted online due to the current COVID-19 situation. A 3-day online English workshop was conducted to help students improve their English language and communication skills and to create opportunities for them to interact with the Language Learning Center (LLC) tutors to address the concerns of the high school students. This article outlines the content and implementation process of the workshop, the e-learning platform, and an analysis of the feedback received from the participants and the LLC tutors involved. A total of 58 high school students were enrolled in the workshop, which was conducted once a week over a period of three weeks. Besides the workshop, they also participated in an independent e-learning program known as Eiken CAT, which was run by Obunsha Eiken for three months. 55.6% and 41.7% of the participants indicated that they were very satisfied and satisfied with the content of the workshop. 81.4% found the content manageable, 12.1% indicated a neutral response and 6.5% found the content a little difficult. 90% of the high school students stated that they gained the skills required to attend online classes.departmental bulletin pape
