A case series study on the effects of Psychosomatic Conditioned Reflex Therapy on Yips
Get PDFtext紀要論文 / Departmental Bulletin PaperThe purpose of this study is to organize past therapeutic charts and case reports of patients with yips who underwent Psychosomatic Conditioned Reflex Therapy (PCRT) and examine the effect of PCRT on yips improvement and the degree of improvement. We analyzed 49 cases of sports-related yips (38 males, 11 females). The subjects with yips ranged from professionals to club members. The result showed that about 70% of the subjects showed improvement in the present data. Although it is difficult to make a general statement because we did not analyze all of the data for the period under study, it is suggested that there is some degree of improvement. Besides, it was also observed that those who improve their yips with PCRT usually show some effect by the fourth session. Hence, if there is no effect after 4 times of treatments, there is a possibility that there will be no improvement after that. In consequence, the decision to continue treatment should be made by the fourth session. In addition, no significant differences between recovered and unrecovered subjects, including duration of yips and severity of symptoms. The mechanism of the effect of the therapy needs to be studied in the future because it is still in the hypothetical stage and there are many unknown points.departmental bulletin pape
