Impact of Integrated Sericultural Technologies on Cocoon Productivity at Farmer Level
A study was conducted during 2005-06 to 2006-07 in Anekal division of Bangalore district, Karnataka to know the impact of group demonstration of integrated sericultural technologies (1ST) on knowledge and adoption of sericultural technologies by farmers. Two villages were identified and 20 farmers each in selected villages were randomly selected whose benchmark mulberry yield was less than 40.00 MT/ha/year and cocoon yield was less than 40 kg/ 100 disease free laying (dfls) before initiating the group demonstration. At the beginning of the demonstration of /ST, a baseline survey of selected farmers with respect to knowledge and adoption level of different sericultural technologies and their sericulture productivity level was carried out. The demonstration of /ST covering 20 sericultural technologies was conducted in the field among the selected farmers who were guided in their sericulture activities for a period of two years. After two years, the impact of demonstration on knowledge and adoption level of sericultural technologies and improvement in mulberry and cocoon productivity levels were assessed among the selected farmers. The results reveal an improvement in knowledge level, adoption level among the selected farmers besides an improvement in the leaf yield and cocoon yield over the bench mark
An Impact Analysis of Front Line Demonstrations on Castor Growers
Castor is an important oilseed crop which occupies an important place in the country\u27s vegetable oil economy. In order to increase the production and productivity of castor crop, introduction of castor varieties and improved technologies are essential. For these Front Line Demonstration (FLO) is a useful extension tool. In order to have an in depth analysis of FLO and its impact on castor growers, a study was undertaken on impact of Front Line Demonstration on castor growers. Determinants of Household Food Security: The Case of Mareko Woreda, Ethiopia
Food insecurity has begun to make a serious impact and has become a prominent issue in the development debate recently. This study was undertaken in Ethiopia to identify the socio-economic determinants of food security. The data analyzed came mainly from a survey of 150 rural households in 5 different Kebeles of the Woreda, which were selected based on probability proportional to size. The household food security/ insecurity status was measured by the direct measurement of household food consumption in the 12 months study period using the household food balance sheet model as reported from household recall. Logistic regression model was applied to identify the correlates of household food security in the study area. Land holding, total cereal production, income obtained from safety-net, number of oxen owned, off-farm and non-farm income, sex of household head and livestock holding were found to affect household food security positively; while adult equivalent household size and quantity of chemical fertilizer applied were found to have negative effect. Based on the findings of the study, short term and long term interventions are recommended to alleviate the food insecurity problem

Financial literacy is defined as a combination of financial awareness, knowledge, skills, attitude and behaviour necessary to make sound financial decisions and ultimately achieve individual financial well-being. A few G20 countries like Australia, Canada, France, Japan and the United Kingdom (UK) have achieved close to 100 percent financial inclusion of women in certain parameters such as account ownership and use of debit/credit cards. India, in 2021, had an insignificant gender gap in terms of account ownership with around 77 percent of women (almost equal number as men) having an account with a financial institution. Skill in the use of digital device and tools is affected by due to lack of access & awareness, less exposure to digital literacy and less skill in the use of digital devices/ gadgets. Purchasing a device/ gadget is still a household decision and women are generally neither a user or a dormant user nor an influencer in the decision making process of purchase of these devices. Womens’ didn’t know the difference between a PAN card and an ATM card. They prefer to withdraw money through Aadhaar Card from Community Service Center (CSC), which was more convenient to them. Trained women were better knowledgeable of digital and financial inclusion. It is therefore necessary to give hands-on skill to women on digital and financial inclusion so that they become more confident in the use, access and knowledge on these technologie
