    No full text
The study intends to examine the impact of brand psychological ownership, value congruity, and customer-brand engagement in the formation of brand attachment in the context of smartphones users in Bangladesh. The theoretical framework was developed by integrating psychological ownership theory and self-congruity theory and the theory of planned behavior. Data were collected by using Google form from 286 respondents currently residing in Bangladesh. The constructs considered in the study include brand psychological ownership (4 items), value congruity (4 items), customer-brand engagement (5 items), and brand attachment (5 items). All items were measured using 7-point likert scale and all constructs have shown internal consistency with Cronbach alpha greater than 0.70. The convergent validity of the measures was evaluated by using the AVE (Average Variance Extracted). The AVE greater than 0.5 indicated that convergent validity was ensured. No construct has HTMT (Hetero-Trait-Mono-Trait) ratio more than 0.90, so divergent validity of the constructs was also ensured. It was found that customer-based brand engagement can be explained by 40.60% by the constructs brand psychological ownership and value congruity and brand attachment can be explained by brand psychological ownership, value congruity, and customer-brand engagement by 72.30%. Future research may include other possible theoretical underpinnings to study the formation of brand attachment

TeacherActivityNet: A Personalized Assistive System for Enhancing Cognitive Support and Improvement of Work-Life Balance in Academic Settings

    No full text
This research establishes a new idea that supports cognitive enhancement and work-life balance for academic office-based faculty members. The improvements in computer vision led to the creation of work-based wellness solutions which assist educational settings to manage their staff’s mental health requirements between intellectual requirements. Workload management methods and self-evaluation approaches from traditional times demand significant manual efforts while creating efficiency problems thus demonstrating the value of automated video-based support systems as better alternatives. Scientists have achieved notable improvements in Human Activity Recognition (HAR) detection yet studies about HAR based personalized workplace support systems designed for faculty office use are scarce. Current research examines student performance in classrooms rather than providing essential support for faculty cognitive processes and wellbeing. Therefore there exists an important deficiency in cognitive and wellbeing assistance for educators. The paper fills this gap through TeacherActivityNet, our proposed model with the help of newly created Workplace Activity Recognition Dataset which represents a new video database designed to detect nine different faculty office activities such as Arriving, Counselling, Eating, Idle, Leaving, Sleeping, Talking, Using Phone and Working. We adapted the YOLOv8n architecture to develop TeacherActivityNet for our model implementation that achieved 0.841 mAP50 through fine-tuning with our generated dataset. Comparison against existing systems reveals that TeacherActivityNet brings potential advantages to personal assistive systems by supporting better academic cognitive performance and life-work balance within educational institutions

Spatial Information Based Imputation for Spatially Resolved Transcriptomics Data

    No full text
New technologies in Spatially Resolved Transcriptomics (SRT) Data have achieved near single-cell resolution while consisting of spatial data that has an immense impact in discovering various biological insights. High-resolution SRT data are sparse and contain dropouts, which may hinder the accurate interpretation of spatial domains. Hence, computationally available imputation methods are often necessary to impute the dropouts from such datasets. Numerous state-of-the-art (SOTA) imputation methods already exist that are used in general tabular data, dedicated single-cell RNA data, as well as the SRT datasets. However, there is no benchmarking of these imputation methods on these newer SRT technologies’ datasets. In this work, we select seven SOTA imputation methods and provide detailed benchmarking results on five SRT technologies consisting of 23 datasets. We show that there are no single imputation methods that consistently outperform others, demonstrating poor imputation capability in most cases, and also poor performance in identifying valid dropouts. Thus, analyzing these SOTA methods’ performance, we propose a new imputation method, ‘SpaMean-Impute’, designed for SRT datasets that utilize spatial information while mitigating dropouts. Furthermore, the proposed method can detect valid dropouts, unlike the SOTA benchmarked methods. Due to integration of spatial information-based dropout location detection, ‘SpaMean-Impute’ only imputes a valid location while preserving the inherent biological relations of the datasets, unlike SOTA methods. Our proposed method outperforms the SOTA imputation methods across evaluation metrics such as: Adjusted Rand Index(ARI), Normalized Mutual Information (NMI), Adjusted Mutual Information(AMI), and Homogeneity (HOMO). In case of ARI, the proposed method outperforms the SOTA methods on average 16.15%, whereas 18.45% improvement in NMI, 18.96% improvement in AMI, and 13.98% improvement in the case of HOMO. Furthermore, the proposed method is computationally efficient compared to other SOTA methods. For example, compared to the SOTA deep-learning-based imputation methods, the proposed method is approximately 33 times faster and requires, on average, 1500 MB less memory during imputation

Pedestrian Eyes: An AI-Powered Framework for Real-Time Pedestrian Detection and Safety Analytics in Dhaka

    No full text
The pedestrian environment in rapidly urbanizing cities such as Dhaka presents acute safety challenges due to high densities, informal crossings, encroached sidewalks and limited monitoring infrastructure. This paper presents a comprehensive system that integrates computer vision (pedestrian detection, multi-object tracking, re-identification and event detection) with an NLP-powered public-sentiment analysis module, targeted at pedestrian safety and flow monitoring in Dhaka. A lightweight detector is fine-tuned for local conditions, a tracker and re-id pipeline supports cross-camera flow analytics, and a public-sentiment module mines social media and local news to prioritize intervention zones. The system is designed for edge-server hybrid deployment, emphasizes privacypreserving data handling and produces policy-relevant dashboards (counts, heat-maps, alerts). Preliminary experiments on urban footage show detection precision of ~85 %, tracking IDF1 = 72 %, and sentiment analysis accuracy of 78 %, demonstrating viability for municipal deployment and infrastructure planning within Dhaka city

Visual Product Search System for an E-Commerce Website using Python

    No full text
introduce a thorough study and development of a Visual Product Search System for an E-Commerce Website using Python utilizing recent advances in deep learning. The platform allows the users to input pictures instead of text and thus achieves more friendly experiences, overcoming the limitations of traditional keyword-based search. The methodology can be recapitulated as composed by two-step process: building-offline database, and searching-online. The offline process is executing the product images which get into background removal based on U²-Net architecture to trim out the dominant product, then extracting characteristics by pre-trained ResNet-50 model getting 2048-dimension feature vectors. These descriptors are cached in an efficient database form for quick access. In the online search phase, query images are fed into the same pipeline, followed by similarity matching with FAISS (Facebook AI Similarity Search) library under cosine similarity. I performed intensive experimental validation on a dataset of more than 1,000 product images from seven different categories such as watches, headphones, shirts, pants, helmets, cutlery and water bottles. The system performed quite well with Top-1 retrieval accuracy of 89.76% over training data, 82.49% over the validation data and 82.69% on test queries was achieved. Top-5 accuracy was above 97% in all datasets, proving the system to be a robust one. I observed the Mean Average Precision (MAP) consistently more than 0.60, and the Mean Reciprocal Rank (MRR) above 0.88 for validation and test sets during this time period. Some interesting results are that with background removal, the glean from search can effectively enhance search precision by mitigating noise and highlighting key product parts. Transfer learning from ImageNet-pretrained network, ResNet-50 was quite efficient, thus sparing the necessity of training on large domain-specific data. Category based analysis showed that categories with clear visual characteristics (watches, water bottles) were more accurately recognized than those with high intra-class variation (clothing). To the best of my knowledge, this work is the first to propose a full VSP for e-commerce website applications. The contributions of this work are as follows: (1) I have presented an end-to-end visual search system specifically designed for e-commerce applications, (2) I have performed ix | P a g e extensive evaluation analysis in terms of not only retrieval accuracy results but also various metric such as recall-vs-enumeration time curve and its counterparts for each product category, (3) I have achieved actual implementation with web-based Frontend interface necessary for practical usage in real world scenario and, (4) I analyze how different factors affect the performance of VSP based on two diverse types of product domains. For future work, I can explore more search modalities such as multi-model text-visual query combination, attention mechanism for fine-grained feature extraction, cross-domain transfer learning and mobile-efficient version for processing on-device. The system shows great commercialization value and has cleared the way for future visual search applications in e-commerce

    No full text
This study investigates the critical training and development needs within the banking sector of Bangladesh, a sector undergoing rapid digital transformation and facing evolving regulatory demands. The primary objective was to assess the effectiveness of current training programs, identify significant skill gaps, and understand employee perspectives on organizational support for professional development. Utilizing a quantitative research approach, data were collected via a structured questionnaire from 125 employees across five major banks, representing both public and private ownership models. The findings reveal a strong preference for practical, on-the-job training, yet highlight a concerning reliance on traditional methods with limited adoption of digital learning platforms. A significant skill gap persists, particularly in areas of digital banking, leadership, and financial analysis. While a majority of employees acknowledge the positive impact of training on their performance and career growth, challenges such as a lack of time, irrelevant content, and insufficient organisational investment hinder its full potential. The study concludes that Bangladeshi banks must strategically realign their training initiatives to be more agile, technology-driven, and closely linked to both business objectives and employee career pathways to remain competitive. Recommendations are provided for enhancing training efficacy, infrastructure, and strategic alignment
