SPAR-4 and sustainable operations : a meta-analytic breakthrough
Get PDFBackground: In a deglobalized world, operations are a major competitive force for industrialized economies, especially with the inclusion of the latest technologies. This study aims to meticulously examine the literature on analytics, operations and sustainability through assessment of contributing publications, nations, authors, and keywords that can provide new perspectives for the research domain.
Methods: The SPAR-4 (Smart Prediction and Reporting for Analysis and Research) model when integrated with bibliometric analysis helps follow a systematic approach to conducting research review along with meta-analysis to evaluate important articles, trends, and major contributors in these fields. This study therefore underlines the changing significance of sustainability in operational strategies, assesses the interconnectedness of research areas, and identifies emerging themes.
Results: The findings highlight the increasing significance of analytics in tackling sustainability issues, providing industry and academia with information to match operational procedures with sustainable development objectives.
Conclusions: By deepening grasp of the research landscape, this study supports strategic decision-making for sustained competitive operational excellence for the policy makers and strategic decision-makers

Case overview/synopsis
This case is about a fintech firm, Dinero, that was facing the dilemma of how to launch its investing app as a minimum viable product in the background of the original plan that was to launch the credit operations along with the investing operations. Now, with the newly-imposed regulatory constraints on the credit business, Dinero had to go ahead with the investing functionality only and had to decide upon the value proposition of the product from among several alternatives. Dinero also wanted to find out the ways for creating blue ocean strategies through value innovation and relook at the product design and launch a suitable minimum viable product (MVP). It also wanted to explore the alternatives for new uncontested markets through innovative differentiated products so that the competition could be made irrelevant. Therefore, it wanted to use in-depth consumer surveys and competitor product benchmarking to come up with a strong MVP that could help it capture the market. The study of the voice of customer could generate a lot of insights for Dinero to move forward.
Complexity academic level
This case is intended for teaching in the graduate studies programs in business, management, information systems and digital business to enable the students to appreciate the decision-making related to digital product management using the approaches such as voice of customer, minimum viable product, competitive benchmarking, breakthrough innovation and blue ocean strategy. This case can be used for teaching in the product management course and the strategy course. The case also be used in the fintech course, which is taught as an elective course to students specializing in the fintech domain.

A circular bioeconomy approach : transforming household kitchen waste into a soil-boosting bioformulation
Get PDFManagement of solid waste management is at the forefront of global sustainability challenges, with increasing emphasis on converting organic waste into value-added products that restore soil health and promote circular bioeconomy. This study aims to develop and evaluate bioformulations derived from fermented kitchen and agricultural waste as sustainable soil amendments for arid and semiarid regions. It investigates their short-term impact on soil fertility and plant growth, addressing key limitations like low organic carbon, high salinity, and nutrient imbalance. Four organic formulations prepared from fermented kitchen and agricultural waste were applied to different soil types of semi-arid Kachchh region. Pot experiments were conducted to assess changes in soil physico-chemical parameters and plant growth. The prepared bioenzymes significantly improved soil parameters, including reduction in pH (F (4,5) = 5.74, p = 0.04), reduced electrical conductivity, and increased organic carbon. Available P (phosphorus), K (potassium), and micronutrient levels also increased, with A4 showing the highest enhancement in Fe, Zn, and dry biomass. The results validate the promise of formulations based on organic waste as an economical and environmentally responsible substitute for synthetic inputs. This method offers useful benefits for sustainable agriculture in dry, resource constrained regions by improving soil fertility and encouraging circular economy principles. Therefore, in a linear framework, they are likewise linked to unsustainable patterns of production and consumption. Environmental laws, rising environmental awareness, and the need for social responsibility have manufacturing companies looking for new and creative methods to do business. The Circular Economy (CE), which will help build a more socially and environmentally responsible society, is widely seen as the only path to sustainable production (Tiwari et al., 2023) and development, replacing our current industrial “linear” paradigm. The increasingly popularized circular economy concept aims to break this link at last by keeping resources “in the loop.” The CE is an economic theory that aims to minimize waste and resource consumption while maintaining economic growth. CE uses and recycles natural resources in an effort to protect the environment. However, identifying potential barriers, opportunities, and benefits that could help economies and enterprises is essential for businesses and politicians to successfully use CE. CE is based on the cyclical movement of materials and energy, and it replaces the traditional linear take make-dispose model with the circular resource-product regenerated resource paradigm. The circular economy thus lays down the pathway for efficient resource use and recovery while attempting to curb reliance on virgin resources, waste, and pollution. And that is what this paper intends to do: above all: reinvestigate the concept of CE in manufacturing through systematic review. It will not just indicate avenues for further research concerning gaps in literature through the critical review but also compile the many opportunities, barriers, advantages, and disadvantages associated with CE in manufacturing enterprises
The Role of Bollywood in Creating the Ideal Rape Victim in India
Get PDFThe paper seeks to explore the role of popular Hindi cinema (Bollywood) in the creation of the image of an ideal rape victim that is expected by members of the criminal justice machinery (CJM) in cases of rape against adult women in India using theoretical, conceptual and interdisciplinary methodologies. The article would begin by reviewing contemporary literature on how Bollywood impacts society in the way certain crimes and victims are perceived and how the CJM deems certain victims more credible than the others. The article would then analyse the depiction of rape scenes in Bollywood movies from 1980 to 2022 to understand how specific characteristic markers are expected from rape victims by the CJM in India. Thereafter, the paper discusses the impact of each of these markers on the CJM and the role of media in shaping the opinion of society before offering possible solutions to address the issue and thereafter conclude
