No full textTaking as a pretext the poem “Los grandes transatlánticos”, from Inmovilidad de los barcos (1997), this article explores the links between love, desire and textuality in Cristina Peri Rossi’s writing, with special emphasis on her short stories. In front of the negative relationships that characterise advanced capitalism (Illouz 2020), parodied in the Uruguayan writer’s most recent work, the article explores some of the ways in which her writing assumes the risk of interpellation and alteration, while resisting three types of productivity: the production of fixed and stable identities from the perspective of gender and desire; the re/production of those two goods that, according to a certain anti-poetic and anti-erotic economy of scarcity and utility, produce sexual and amorous relations (that is, children and orgasms); and that of the self-absorbed identities of the cisheteropatriarchal sex-affective regime.Tomando como pretexto el poema “Los grandes transatlánticos”, de Inmovilidad de los barcos (1997), este artículo explora los vínculos entre amor, deseo y textualidad en la escritura de Cristina Peri Rossi, con especial énfasis en sus relatos breves. Frente a las relaciones negativas que caracterizan el capitalismo avanzado (Illouz 2020), parodiadas en la obra más reciente de la escritora uruguaya, el artículo explora algunos modos en los cuales su escritura asume el riesgo de la interpelación y de la alteración, resistiéndose al mismo tiempo a tres tipos de productividad: la producción de identidades fijas y estables desde la perspectiva del género y el deseo; la re/producción de esos dos bienes que, según cierta economía antipoética y antierótica de la escasez y de la utilidad, producen las relaciones sexuales y amorosas (esto es, hijos y orgasmos); y la de las identidades ensimismadas del régimen sexo-afectivo cisheteropatriarcal

No full textIn this work, a relationship is established between solmization, as a learning method during the 18th century, and musical rhetoric in the theatrical music of the last master of the Royal Chapel of the Habsburg dynasty during the reign of Carlos II. On the basis of the treatise of the Spanish Jesuit Pedro de Ulloa, a direct relationship will be established between the so-called Affektenlehre theory and the Guidonian’s system that continued to used in education, to analyze it from the new perspective offered by the rhetoric, at the zarzuela Veneno es de amor la envidia by Sebastián Durón. En el presente trabajo se establece una relación entre la solmización, como método de aprendizaje vigente en el siglo XVIII y la retórica musical de la obra teatral de Sebastián Durón, el último maestro de la Capilla Real de la dinastía de los Austrias durante el reinado de Carlos II. Tomando como base el tratado Música universal o principios universales de la música del jesuita español Pedro de Ulloa se establecerá una relación directa entre la denominada Affektenlehre y el sistema guidoniano que seguía en auge en la educación, para analizar desde la perspectiva novedosa que nos ofrece la retórica, la zarzuela Veneno es de amor la envidia, de Sebastián Durón

No full textDuring the second half of the eighteenth century, theatrical dance flourished in New Spain, and in the last quarter of the century, ballet was introduced and was met an enthusiastic reception. With international influences, its tradition was established thanks to close contact with the Teatro Italiano of Cádiz and the Teatro de los Caños del Peral of Madrid, where ballet experienced a brilliant period under the guidance of distinguished Noverre disciples.En la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII, la danza teatral floreció en la Nueva España, y hacia el último cuarto del siglo se introdujo el ballet, que arraigó definitivamente. Con influencia internacional, su tradición se estableció en estrecho contacto con el Teatro Italiano de Cádiz y el Teatro de los Caños del Peral de Madrid, donde el ballet vivió un brillante periodo con destacados discípulos de Noverre
La proyección del multilingüismo en el paisaje lingüístico de un entorno urbano
Get PDFThis research applies for the first time the study of the linguistic landscape —LL— in the Madrid municipality of Getafe. The objective is to show the diversity of languages in written signs of a private nature, as well as to relate languages with the functions and values they arouse. We have a corpus of 250 photos in which at least one language other than Spanish appears. Considering the communities of origin of the immigrant population in Getafe and the repercussions of globalization in terms of language interconnection, we analyze the orientation of multilingualism in Getafe. We argue that the diversity of visible languages is not a sufficient reason to characterize a specific social space as multilingual. Rather, it is a conjunction of quantitative and qualitative factors that demonstrates an asymmetry in the representativeness of the languages that leads us to nuance the multilingual aspect of the Getafe LL.Esta investigación aplica por vez primera el estudio del paisaje lingüístico —PL— en el municipio madrileño de Getafe. El objetivo es mostrar la diversidad de lenguas presentes en los signos escritos de carácter privado, así como relacionar las lenguas con las funciones y los valores que suscitan. Disponemos de un corpus de 250 fotos en las que aparecen, al menos, una lengua diferente del español. Considerando las comunidades de origen de la población inmigrante en Getafe y las repercusiones de la globalización en términos de interconexión de lenguas, analizamos la orientación del multilingüismo en Getafe. Argumentamos que la diversidad de lenguas visibles no es razón suficiente para caracterizar de multilingüe un espacio social concreto. Más bien, es una conjunción de factores cuantitativos y cualitativos la que demuestra una asimetría en la representatividad de las lenguas que nos conduce a matizar el aspecto multilingüe del PL de Getafe.

No full textNot many non-fiction science comic books fans are aware that graphic narrative for the popularization of science, the teaching of multiple scientific topics, and environmental and health education is not a phenomenon of the 21st century.
This exploratory research aims to show the many initiatives carried out in the last century in English and Spanish for the aforementioned purposes. The initiatives collected here show their authors’ belief in the potential of comics as an informative, educational and instructive medium, and constitute the prelude to the countless materials published today in both languages.No pocos aficionados a los cómics de ciencia de no ficción ignoran que la narrativa gráfica para la divulgación de la ciencia, la enseñanza de múltiples materias de corte científico y la educación en materia medioambiental y de salud no es un fenómeno del siglo xxi.
Con esta investigación de corte exploratorio nos proponemos dar a conocer las múltiples iniciativas en inglés y español llevadas a cabo en el siglo pasado destinadas a los propósitos antedichos. Las iniciativas que recogemos aquí son una muestra del convencimiento de sus artífices del potencial del cómic como medio divulgativo, educativo e instructivo, y constituyen la antesala de las innúmeras publicaciones que hoy día se editan en ambos idiomas
Submitting to Loving Authority: Wonder Woman’s DeleuzoGuattarian Ethics
No full textIn this article, I read Grant Morrison and Yanick Paquette’s Wonder Woman: Earth One, Volume 1 (2016) through Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari’s philosophy to challenge the superhero comics narrative convention of using violence as the sole means in a hero’s transcendent pursuit of justice. Deleuze and Guattari critique goal-oriented sexuality as a call for different modes of thinking about ethics and interpersonal relations. I apply their insights to superhero comics wherein we find heroes’ aggressive climaxes of physical power that set things right, i.e., back to the way things were. Most heroes are thus goal-oriented, hyper-violent, and conservative; they beat the villains into compliance to return the world to its previous order. Wonder Woman, on the contrary, turns towards what I call the ethics of the caress. She deploys intimate conversation and physical affection as well as espouses vulnerability to thereby transform her interlocutors – whether men or fellow Amazons – into submissive counterparts to “change the world for the better” (Morrison and Paquette 2016)
