    No full text
When we delve into the situation of women and girls seeking asylum in the European Union (EU), factors of discrimination such as gender and ethnicity become evident almost immediately, exerting significant influence over their entire migratory process. Many female migrants, especially those who are victims of gender-based violence, not only face a sexist and patriarchal system but also find themselves in a particularly vulnerable position due to their ethnic background. In this regard, we will proceed to address, from an intersectional perspective, gender and ethnicity as factors of discrimination and subordination. This will be accomplished through an examination of the regulations adopted within the framework of European law, as well as their implementation in the legislation of Italy as an EU member state. The objective is to determine the extent of protection provided to migrant women who are victims of violence and persecution on grounds of gender.

    No full text
Renewable energies have increased in importance in recent years due to the harm caused to the environment by fossil fuels. As a result, renewable energy companies seem to be profitable investment opportunities given their likely substantial future earnings. However, previous empirical evidence has not always agreed about this likely profitability. In addition, the methodologies employed in the existing empirical literature are complicated and not feasible for most investors to use. Therefore, it is proposed an approach which combines the use of performance measures, screening rules, devolatized returns and portfolio strategies, all of which can be implemented by investors. This approach results in high cumulative returns of more than 200% and other positive ratios, even when transaction costs are considered. This should encourage people to invest in these renewable energies and contribute to improving the environment.

Ecuador throughout history has made great efforts through processes of social and solidarity economy —ESOL—. Many of these processes have been deployed informally through non-monetary economic practices, and others more formally from the conceptualization and development of popular and solidarity economy programs —EPS— entrenched in its new Constitution in 2008. As of 2017, with the government of Lenin Moreno, a regression in public and social policies was established, reaching its peak with the government of banker Guillermo Lasso as of 2021. It is at that time that all kinds of measures are deployed against organizations that could compromise the results accounts of the economic structures and oligarchies related to the government, thus hindering openly democratic processes such as savings and credit cooperatives. This shows the lack of ethics together with the bad faith when it comes to not meeting the needs of a sector that has always sustained and promoted the circulating flow of goods and services through local action using all kinds of mechanisms prioritizing maximization. of profit over social benefit.

    No full text
The tax treatment of cooperatives in Uruguay has been and it is fragmented, lacking coordination, uniformity and updating, fragmented and difficult to interpret, generating legal insecurity. Traditionally, the instrument of tax exemption has been used, ignoring the non-subject situations that occur in consumption and business income taxes, even after the general legal recognition of the cooperative act. The reason of the differential tax treatment of cooperatives lies in their special characteristics, their concept of non-profit company and in their values and principles. Cooperatives in Uruguay are generally exempt from corporate income tax, wealth tax and, in some cases, social security contributions. No full text
The number of enterprises in the service sector is increasing with the time and the market for service sector is expanding. Universities as higher education institutions were affected by these developments in the service sector and have included providing quality service to their internal and external stakeholders as their top priority. Providing quality service in a university affects the satisfaction of students, who are among the most important stakeholders, their intention to suggest university to potential students and to visit after graduation. Hedperf scale was used to measure the service quality at universities and various institutions in different countries. The construct validity of the Hedperf scale was investigated according to the student perceptions at a university in Turkey and it was found with exploratory factor analysis (EFA) that service quality dimensions were classified into four dimensions - academic, non-academic, reputation, and access. Among these dimensions, the effect of academic, reputation and access dimensions on satisfaction, suggestion, and behavioral intention for visiting after graduation was determined, while the effect of non-academic dimension was not determined. Service quality dimensions explain approximately 31% of the variability in overall satisfaction. Access affects satisfaction at the level of β = .322, which is more than other dimensions. It was determined that the service quality dimensions explained 17% of the behavioral intention to “visit the university after graduation” and the effect of access (β = .264) among these dimensions was higher than the other dimensions. University service quality dimensions explain 23% of the intention for “suggest the university to potential students”, and it was determined that the reputation dimension has the strongest effect (β = .367). The research explores the link between service quality and satisfaction, suggestion, behavioral intention and determines the construct validity of the scale developed in a foreign culture.
