Gig Work in Post Pandemic Times: Does it an Agile Work Structure?
Gig economy is known as situations where workers work based on demand or known as ‘online gig work’, or on-demand economy’. The purpose of this paper is to explore the effectiveness of gig work configuration to overcome the post pandemic impacts. Qualitative research design is employed to answer the research question. Data for this study was collected from the online sellers in Malaysia using online interview. The phenomenology approach is adopted to analyses the data with labour context perspectives. Thematic analysis was used to interpret the interview data. The underlying assumption of gig works implementation are explored and lead to the understanding of its effectiveness in terms of providing sustainable income and solving financial difficulties due to the Covid-19 impacts. Findings suggest that most Malaysia gig workers was involved in the gig works due to financial difficulties during pandemic. However, the potential of this flexible work structure outnumbered its challenges, suggesting a huge opportunity for gig works system to be utilized by the people. Findings also discovered the awareness among respondents to equip themselves with communication skills, content writing, information technology, leadership skills and product knowledge. The findings imply that the social support could be geared up to assist the people in dealing with the challenges of this flexible work system realizing its huge potential to minimize the detrimental impacts of the pandemic and uncertain economic conditions
The differences of farm financial performance in innovation adoption in beef cattle farming: A study in Peninsular Malaysia
Beef cattle farming has become a vital sub-sector in the agriculture industry in supplying protein for the populations. The self-sufficiency ratio (SSR) of beef is not encouraging, and the import value is kept increasing for many years. Meanwhile, innovation adoption in beef cattle farming is believed to improve beef production if used correctly. However, inefficient financial management has led to improper farming practices. This study aims to identify the farm financial difference in adopting such innovations. This study involves 233 beef cattle farmers from Johor, Selangor, Kedah and Kelantan using stratified and simple random sampling. It is found that integration and silage show more significant profit changes with more than 60%, while artificial insemination and vaccination show 33% and 42% profit changes, respectively. Hence, regular meetings conducted by the extension agents are essential to ensure that adopting innovation is successful besides good cooperation among all stakeholders, including the farmers, government agencies, farmers\u27 associations and private sectors
Improving the BRIS Soil management and practices for growing roselle (Hibiscus sabradiffa L.)
Beach ridges with interspersed swales (BRIS), commonly referred to as BRIS soil or sandy soil, are extensively distributed along the eastern coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Despite the challenging nature of the lowland agricultural soil, characterised by its sandy texture and sterility, agricultural activities on BRIS soils have experienced an upward trend in recent times. The objective of this study was to conduct a literature review on the challenges and possibilities of roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) growth in the BRIS soil environment. Soil concerns can be classified into three categories: physical, chemical, and biological. The soil in BRIS is characterised by its acidic nature and low CEC values, with sand content occasionally reaching as high as 95 percent. Significant challenges associated with sandy soil conditions encompass soil water repellency (SWR), soil compaction, surface crust formation, soil erosion, low fertility, and Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) value, as well as nutrient leaching into the groundwater, leading to pollution. The roselle plant is currently being commercially cultivated in the state of Terengganu as a substitute for tobacco in BRIS soil. This is due to the plant\u27s exceptional aeration and deep root zone. However, owing to its diminished fertility, its output is restricted. This book concentrates on the challenges related to BRIS soil and environmental concerns, including issues such as inadequate nutrient levels, weak soil structure, and excessive drainage. This review comprehensively elucidates the management strategies for sandy soil in the context of agricultural operations and evolving climatic conditions, thereby contributing to the advancement of research on the prospective cultivation of roselle

The Effect of Mozart Music in Reducing Depression Levels among Hospital Nurses in Malaysia
This research aims to determine the effectiveness of Mozart’s music in reducing depression among nurses in order to increase the quality of healthcare services in Malaysia. The research method that was used for this research was quasi-experimental and an Aura machine was used to collect data. A significant difference in aura colour before and after a 14-day treatment of Mozart Music was also observed. In order to help the nurses to reduce depression; minimise disturbance during working hours; and have a more proactive and productive environment, treatment sessions were set up for those who scored a moderate depression level using Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). There were two experiment groups; the Mozart Music group and the non-treatment group of which, each group consisted of 15 participants. Treatment session was conducted daily for 14 days with each session taking approximately 10 minutes. After 14 days, participants were given the same questionnaires from before to answer once again. This research contributes a new treatment plan to alleviate the burden that nurses are facing in reducing depression by giving them more options of alternative treatments that suit themselves apart from the current treatments such as meditation and social support. In conclusion, Mozart’s music shows significant results in reducing depression among nurses
