Strategies of Malaysian Actors in Embodying Characters with Disabilities
Abstract
This manuscript discusses the talent management practices applied by productions in drama or film. The study encompasses two main objectives: firstly, to understand how actors embody and internalize the roles of Persons with Disabilities (PWD), and secondly, to identify the duration actors require to fully comprehend and internalize PWD roles assigned to them. Findings from the study indicate that the embodiment of PWD characters can be achieved through observational studies of actual individuals with disabilities, imitation of characteristics, strategic casting, as well as thoughtful expression and appreciation of the given roles. The research participants each required between two to eight weeks to completely internalize their respective roles. This research contributes strategic insights beneficial to emerging production companies, providing methodologies that facilitate the cultivation of versatile actors who can convincingly portray a diverse range of characters through structured teaching and training processes offered by production entities. Effective talent management is crucial for the success of dramas and films. A well-crafted and sincere production can attract and maintain audience support, thereby advancing the local film industry\u27s initiatives.

The Cultural Significance of Kuih Lemper among the Javanese Community in Bagan Datuk, Perak
ABSTRACT
This study examines the cultural significance of kuih lemper among the Javanese community in Bagan Datuk, Perak, highlighting its role as intangible cultural heritage (ICH). However, the younger generation shows declining familiarity with preparation skills, reflecting broader vulnerabilities of culinary heritage in the face of modernisation. Employing an ethnographic qualitative design, the research combined participant observation during a village wedding with in-depth interviews (n = 8) selected through purposive sampling. Thematic analysis produced five key themes: (1) social function and communal labour (rewang); (2) cultural continuity across life-cycle events; (3) ritual and symbolic meanings in feasts; (4) adaptation through local ingredients and techniques without loss of identity; and (5) safeguarding challenges, particularly weakening intergenerational transmission and market pressures. Findings reveal that kuih lemper extends beyond food practice, operating as a medium of community cohesion, cultural identity, and embodied knowledge transfer. The preparation process fosters cooperation and interdependence, while its presence in ceremonies underscores its ritual significance. This article contributes to ICH and food-heritage scholarship by foregrounding a Malaysian Javanese case that nuances debates on identity, continuity, and globalisation. Policy implications suggest strengthening community-led teaching, integrating culinary apprenticeship into local programmes, and recognising kuih lemper as part of state or national heritage initiatives.
Moderating Effect of External Monitory Mechanism on The Relationship Between Earnings Management and Profitability of Listed Petroleum Marketing Companies in Nigeria
This study investigates the relationship between earnings management and profitability of listed petroleum marketing companies in Nigeria and the moderating influence of external monitoring methods. Data for the years 2012 to 2022 were taken out of the sampled companies\u27 annual reports. The results from the GMM estimator showed that the discretionary accrual, as well as the interaction between audit firm size and discretionary, have a significant impact on gross profit margin respectively. According to the study\u27s findings, auditors are aware of earnings management, but they are far more concerned about it when their choices result in inflated rather than understated earnings. The likelihood of receiving a qualified audit report was unaffected by the interplay between audit firm size and discretionary accrual. However, this does not imply that auditors are ignorant of earnings management. The report suggests that methods for the quick detection of earnings management techniques be adopted to decrease the negative impact of earnings management on the profitability of listed petroleum marketing enterprises in Nigeria
Customer Engagement and Behavior in Multi-Channel Retail: Insights from the Malaysia Market
This study investigates customer behaviour and engagement in Malaysia’s multi-channel retail environment, focusing on how channel availability, marketing strategies, and customer experience quality influence consumer engagement across retail touchpoints. A quantitative survey was conducted among 400 Malaysian consumers aged 18 and above. Correlation and mediation analyses using the PROCESS macro reveal that all three independent variables have significant direct effects on customer behaviour and engagement. Channel availability exerts the strongest influence, followed by customer experience quality and marketing strategies. Mediation analysis highlights the partial mediating roles of consistent multi-channel experience and the availability of discount codes or coupons in strengthening these relationships. These findings offer actionable insights for retailers, particularly SMEs in Malaysia, to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty through integrated multi-channel strategies. The study also underscores the growing importance of technological disruption and AI adoption in shaping the future of retail

Effects of different concentrations of Aspergillus niger on fermentation characteristics and nutritive value of Napier grass silage: Quality of Napier grass silage treated with Aspergillus niger
Napier grass is considered to be low-quality grass due to its low nutritional value. This study was aimed at investigating the effect of Aspergillus niger on the improvement of Napier grass silage quality. The plants were mixed with 7% molasses and A. niger at a rate of 0 (T0), 106 (T1) and 107 spores/ml (T2). Each kg of plant materials was mixed with 10.7ml fungal substrate and ensiled for 45 days. According to the results of this study, the pH tended to decrease with an increased rate of A. niger, while the lactic acid content tended to increase. The T1 silage showed lower (p<0.05) ash content than others. Non-significant (p>0.05) differences were observed on other proximate components. An increasing trend was observed in crude protein content with an increasing rate of A. niger, while no consistent trend was observed in crude fibre content. In conclusion, A. niger could be used as an additive to enhance the silage quality, but further research is needed to know the nature of the mode of action of A. niger in silage

Peranan Muzium dan Akademia dalam Memperkasakan Sejarah Islam di Kelantan: The Role of Museums and Academia in Empowering Islamic History in Kelantan
ABSTRACT
The contemporary role of museums has expanded beyond mere preservation to become catalysts of knowledge and drivers of economic development through the concepts of “museum clusters” and Shariah-compliant tourism. When aligned with academia, museums have the potential to present Islamic history in a more accurate, critical, and contextual manner. In Kelantan, however, the collaboration between museums and academic institutions remains limited and requires further strengthening to enhance the presentation of local Islamic heritage. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using document analysis to examine the strategic relationship between museums and academia. Data were collected from archival sources, institutional reports, exhibition records, and publications such as Pengasuh magazine. The study focuses on key elements of Kelantan’s Islamic heritage, including early evidence of Islamisation, the traditional pondok education system, and the intellectual culture. It also reviews museum exhibitions, tourism policies, and new museological trends that emphasize community engagement, interactive technologies, and the integration of Islamic museology principles. Findings indicate that Malaysian museums should be strengthened through academic guidance, the use of digital technologies, and support from non-governmental organizations. Inclusive exhibition designs and active community participation are also crucial in enhancing public understanding of Islamic history. Collaborative initiatives such as the AL-ASAR program at the Pahang State Museum exemplify effective synergy between museums and academia. The study concludes that deeper cooperation between curators and scholars is essential in developing research-based exhibitions that reinforce understanding of Islamic civilisation in Kelantan.
Aleeza Bakery: The Rise of a Homegrown Dream
On her 17th birthday, a teenage girl sat quietly, gazing at the cake before her. Yet instead of joy, a swirl of emotions filled her heart.
“How long will my family keep buying birthday cakes from other shops every year?” she wondered.
That seemingly simple question ignited a powerful spark within her; a deep desire to take control of her own future. She decided she wanted to learn how to bake; not just for herself, but for her family and community. Driven by this newfound passion, she enrolled in a diploma programme in baking and pastry. Months turned into years, and her skills flourished; but so, did her vision.
One day, she recalled a local saying:
“Even though there were no dark clouds, suddenly it rained.”
It perfectly described the moment her mindset shifted completely. No longer content with just baking for her loved ones, she declared: “With the knowledge and skills I have, I want to open a bakery shop and create job opportunities for the people in Jeli.”
Her dream was more than just building business; it was rooted in hope and empowerment. She envisioned a bakery that could show the local community that even in a remote area far from the city, people could earn a sustainable living; with fair wages, bonuses, annual leave, and SOCSO coverage. That teenage girl is now known as Mrs. Azliza, the proud owner and entrepreneur behind Aleeza Bakery in Jeli town. But the journey was not without risks.
“Hiring workers without certificates and with no skills at all in baking is the biggest risk I have ever taken,” said Mrs. Azliza.
To grow her bakery while staying true to her mission of community support, she chose to hire local individuals with no formal qualifications; a bold move that few entrepreneurs dare to make. This decision reflects the core challenge she continues to face; balancing business growth with social impact while navigating the uncertainties of entrepreneurship. Her story is one of courage, vision, and the transformative power of pursuing a dream sparked by a single birthday cake
