The Artisan Entrepreneurial Spirit of Redland Family Business

    No full text
A gentle drizzle tapped against the windowpane, signaling the end of a long, hot summer. The dusk sky stretched across the horizon, painting the evening in deep gold and indigo. Mr. Syafie Shukery sat by the window, his fingers curled around a warm cup of coffee, enjoying the quiet. However, his mind was far from calm. The dream of owning his own bakery had always been on his mind, but now, it was no longer just a dream—it had to become a reality. The steam curling into the air like the warmth of a freshly baked loaf, he let out a breath and set down his cup. His hands, which were frequently covered in flour, had spent years honing the art; he knows he had excellent cooking and baking skills. Courage was what he needed now. He had already left his job at the Hotel Perdana, Kota Bharu, Kelantan and finding another was out of the question. There was no turning back. His skills, his passion, and his years of experience—all of them had to be poured into this one endeavor. Failure was not an option. But having a great product was not enough. He had seen many skilled bakers struggle, not because their pastries weren’t delicious, but because no one knew about them. "The real challenge isn\u27t the baking—it\u27s the marketing," he muttered to himself. He exhaled, putting down his cup. If he wants his bakery to thrive, he needs a marketing strategy. How will he get people to see his creations? How can he make his brand stand out in an industry flooded with options? Marketing isn\u27t just an option; it\u27s key to keeping his business going, without it, even the best pastries won\u27t get noticed

Preliminary Study of Melastoma Malabathricum L. Leaf Extract as a Green Corrosion Inhibitor for Car Radiator

    No full text
Corrosion in automotive cooling systems is a persistent issue that compromises efficiency and component lifespan. Synthetic corrosion inhibitors commonly used in radiator coolants help mitigate corrosion but have raised environmental concerns due to their toxic byproducts. This study evaluates tannin extracted from Melastoma Malabathricum L. leaves as a natural, eco-friendly corrosion inhibitor. Tannin was extracted using the solvent extraction method and characterised by XRD and FTIR. The corrosion resistance of aluminium substrates in car radiators was tested in various mediums (HCl, NaOH, deionised water, and radiator coolant) over 24, 48, and 72 hours using the weight loss measurement (WLM) method. Results revealed significant corrosion rate and inhibition efficiency, particularly in NaOH, supported by reduced weight loss and improved microstructural stability. These findings highlight tannin\u27s potential as a sustainable alternative to synthetic corrosion inhibitors

Assessment of pesticide handling practices and the use of personal protective equipment among rice farmers in Pasir Mas, Kelantan

    No full text
The extent to which rice farmers are exposed to pesticides is significantly influenced by their handling practices and use of personal protective equipment (PPE). This study collected contextual information from 20 rice farmers affiliated with the Kemubu Agricultural Development Authority (KADA) in Pasir Mas, Kelantan. The farmers were surveyed between July 2024 and April 2025. Data were collected through personal interviews and questionnaire surveys, and analysed using descriptive statistical methods. The farmers were aged 21 to 87 years, had 4 to 50 years of experience, and cultivated paddy fields ranging in size from 0.8 to 12.1 hectares. All of the farmers applied pesticides using manual and/or motorised backpack sprayers, with twelve of them having received KADA training between 2022 and 2024. However, none of them reported using alternative pest management methods. The most commonly used pesticides were liquid formulations (4-12 products per farmer), with insecticides being the most frequently used (2-7 products per farmer). All farmers reported using at least one product classified as WHO classes II or III, and some used unregistered and expired products. The most common method of disposing of empty pesticide containers was burying them in the ground (13 farmers). While all farmers wore basic protective clothing (long sleeves and long pants), only 14 wore non-absorbent gloves and boots. These findings suggest gaps in safe pesticide handling practices and PPE use, indicating the need for targeted training and behavioural change interventions, as well as improved access to appropriate protective equipment and waste disposal facilities for the rice farmers in the region

For generations, Malay postnatal therapy has offered new mothers sacred healing. Yet today, this profound wisdom faces erasure. Why is a mother’s journey into Malay postnatal care now met with such uncertainty? Inconsistent standards and a damaging stigma have fractured this heritage, leaving women without the trusted, culturally-grounded care they deserve.   This is more than a problem; it’s a loss that echoes through families. While other traditional medicines thrive, Malay therapy struggles for recognition, its potential dimmed by a lack of professional frameworks. “One must look at the next generation and ask, ‘Will this healing touch be here for them, or will it be just a forgotten story?” she urges.   But a new path is possible. At Zuzana Postnatal Care & Beauty House, a legacy is being reclaimed. “The vision was simple yet profound,” Madam Zuzana explains, “to honour the hands of the elders by building a house where tradition is not just preserved, but perfected.” The centre bridges ancient wisdom with modern excellence, transforming tradition into a trusted standard. Through rigorous practitioner training and evidence-informed care, it delivers the holistic restoration new mothers need, without sacrificing their cultural soul.   The time to choose is now. This invaluable heritage can either be preserved or let fade. “This work is a life\u27s calling,” she states, “to ensure no mother ever has to choose between her cultural identity and her well-being.” Zuzana is leading this vital transformation, ensuring Malay postnatal care not only survives but empowers generations to come. The journey of confident, cherished motherhood begins here

“I can’t let this fall apart.” Kalaivani’s hands trembled as she refreshed the news feed another confinement center had shut down, another mother left without support. It was early 2020, and the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic loomed large over Malaysia’s healthcare system. Her phone buzzed incessantly with anxious messages: “Are you still open?” “What if I need help?” “Can you still care for my baby?”   She stood in the quiet of her postnatal care center in Klang, reflecting on the journey that began with a dream to honor motherhood through holistic healing. Over 2,000 mothers had passed through these doors since 2015, each leaving stronger, more confident, and nurtured.   But now, uncertainty threatened everything. With movement control orders (MCO) enforced nationwide, operations were suspended, staff furloughed, and revenue streams halted overnight. Doubt crept in: Am I strong enough to carry this? Then came the memory the first cry of a newborn, the tearful smile of a recovering mother, the warmth of herbal baths that soothed both body and soul. “No,” she whispered. “This isn’t the end. This is why I started. Care doesn’t close.” That night, amidst fear and fatigue, Kalaivani Rajeswaran made a decision not to retreat, but to adapt. From physical center to mobile service model; from in-house stays to home-based care delivery; from traditional practices to digitally enabled education Precious 30 Days began its transformation. What emerged was not just survival, but evolution: a resilient, scalable, and socially impactful enterprise rooted in compassion and innovation

Exploring Individual Entrepreneurial Orientation and Its Dimensions: A Conceptual Paper

    No full text
Entrepreneurship is a significant factor that directly and indirectly influences a nation\u27s economy and plays a crucial role in shaping its economic landscape. The long-term economic development and success of any country depends on innovative approaches and entrepreneurial initiatives. This study aims to provide a literature review on individual entrepreneurial orientation (IEO), emphasizing the significance of its five dimensions: risk-taking, competitive aggressiveness, autonomy, proactiveness, and innovativeness. By so doing, this study contributes to the literature by addressing the initial stages of conceptual model building for IEO and its dimensions, specifically within the context of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)

Data Driven Segmentation System for Product Optimisation in Retail

    No full text
The rapidly evolving retail landscape necessitates the adoption of structured, data-driven strategies to maintain competitiveness and operational efficiency. Within this context, product bundling has proven to be an effective marketing and inventory optimisation strategy. However, many retailers continue to rely on manual bundling methods, which are labour-intensive and often fail to accommodate dynamic shifts in consumer purchasing behaviour. Traditional bundling approaches frequently overlook optimal product combinations, resulting in missed revenue opportunities and inefficient inventory utilisation. To address these limitations, this study introduces SmartBundle, an intelligent system designed to automate and enhance product bundling by integrating customer segmentation and data analytics techniques. The system was developed using the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology, providing a structured framework that guided the progression through key phases, including requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing and maintenance. At its core, SmartBundle utilises a MySQL relational database structure for efficient data indexing and retrieval, which supports the scalable processing of customer and product data. By applying clustering algorithms, such as K-Means, the system is capable of categorising products based on purchasing patterns, identifying high-potential bundling opportunities and minimising the accumulation of surplus inventory. This data-driven method enables retailers to dynamically adjust their bundling strategies in response to market demands, thereby improving both operational performance and overall profitability

    No full text
The study aims to evaluate the effects of creep feed and commercial concentrates on the growth performance of pre-weaning Dorper lambs in accelerated lambing production. The Dorper lambs were selected based on breeding cohorts bred in January 2023, where 48 lambs were born with a mean birth weight of 4.11±0.2 kg. The lambs were divided into three groups and randomly assigned to the treatments. The experiment started when the lambs were ten (10) days old. Three dietary treatments, namely creep feed (CF) as control, commercial concentrate A (CA), and concentrate B (CB) with crude protein (CP) at 18.25%, 14.73%, and 13.05%, respectively. The treatments were assumed to be isocaloric feed. The feed given was calculated, and the lambs had free access to water and were permitted to suckle ewes (ad libitum). A GLM procedure was performed to determine the effects of feed and sexes, which are significant for growth traits. The results were that only male lambs fed with CF were significantly higher (p<0.05) on the weaning weight (28.10±1.2 kg) and average daily gain (ADG) (258.08±13.8 g/day) compared with other treatments. However, there is no significant difference (p<0.05) for male and female lambs fed with CA and CB. Therefore, the present finding suggested that the CF could increase the weaning weight and ADG over a short period for male Dorper lambs
