This study aims to describe and analyze the impact of customer perceptions on the existence and competitiveness of Bank Syariah Indonesia compared to conventional banks in Tembilahan. The research method uses qualitative descriptive analysis with a research design that is a holistic single case study. The sampling technique in this study employs purposive sampling and snowball sampling. Data collection is conducted through direct interviews with respondents. The results of the study indicate that BSI's competitiveness enhancement strategy in Tembilahan encompasses three main aspects: (1) strengthening Islamic financial literacy to overcome misunderstandings about murabahah contracts, (2) simplifying procedures and innovating services to improve efficiency without compromising Sharia principles, and (3) diversifying Sharia products so that BSI is not only recognized as a murabahah bank but as a comprehensive provider of Sharia financial solutions. BSI's existence will be increasingly solid if it can manage public perception consistently to reinforce a positive image regarding transparency, inclusivity, and Sharia values, while also addressing negative perceptions about procedural complexity, limited digital services, and an exclusive impression. Success in managing these perceptions becomes the key to BSI's competitiveness amidst the dominance of conventional bank

An Analysis of Determinants and policies of Indonesian Coal Export
This study aims to analyze in depth the development of coal prices, production, exchange rates and exports for the period 2005-2024, to determine and analyze the Indonesian government's policy in setting coal export quotas through the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) mechanism and to analyze in depth the influence of prices, production and exchange rates on Indonesian coal exports for the period 2005-2024. The analytical methods used in this study are qualitative and quantitative. The analytical tool used is multiple linear regression. The results of the study show that during the period 2005-2024, the average development of international coal prices in the period 2005-2024 was 10.71 percent per year. Then the average development of coal production during 2005-2024 was recorded at 10.19 percent per year. On average, the annual development of the exchange rate was recorded at 3.03%. The average annual development of coal exports reached 6.87. Indonesia's coal export quota policy, through the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO), is essentially a compromise strategy between national interests and the interests of the mining industry. By requiring a minimum of 25% of production for domestic needs, the government ensures a stable energy supply for PLN (State Electricity Company) and industry, albeit lower than international prices. The DMO has proven vital to maintaining national energy security, electricity tariff stability, and state revenues. The success of this policy depends heavily on consistent government oversight, company compliance, and the adaptation of the national energy system to global market dynamics and the sustainable energy transition. Multiple linear regression results indicate that prices, production, and the exchange rate have a positive and significant impact on Indonesia's coal exports from 2005 to 2024
Engagement analysis: Student-centered vs. lecturer-centered faculty Instagram posts
This study investigates the engagement metrics of Instagram posts from a Faculty of Sports Science and Recreation (FSR) account, focusing on the distinction between student-centered and lecturer-centered content. With nearly 2 billion active users on Instagram, effective engagement strategies for educational institutions are paramount. Employing a quantitative research design was analyzed the top 20 posts from faculty official Instagram account that garnered high interaction rates, assessing likes, comments, shares, and reach from October to December 2024. The findings indicate that student-centered posts generated higher engagement rates (average of 16.48%) compared to lecturer-centered posts (average of 8.75%). This suggests that content highlighting student achievements, activities, and narratives fosters greater interaction and connection among followers. Storytelling techniques and user-generated content have been identified as effective strategies to enhance engagement, as they create a sense of community and belonging among students. Furthermore, the analysis reveals that well-crafted narratives not only evoke emotional responses but also build authenticity in communication. The results underscore the importance of aligning social media content with audience preferences to optimize engagement. By understanding these dynamics, faculties can tailor their social media marketing strategies to increase student enrollment and retention while strengthening their online presence. Overall, this study contributes to the growing body of literature on social media engagement in higher education, highlighting actionable insights for effective digital communication
Investigating UPTM TESL Lecturers’ Views On ESL Students’ Code Switching in Presentations
This study explored the perceptions of TESL lecturers at University Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM) regarding the use of code switching (CS) by ESL students during presentations. Code switching is defined as the alternation between English and a student’s native language. Although presentations are generally conducted in English to meet course objectives and improve language proficiency, many students relied on CS as a communication strategy. A qualitative research design was employed, and data were collected through interviews with five TESL lecturers who teach faculty courses to students from non-English majors. The study aimed to understand their views andexperiences related to this practice. The findings revealed two types of perspectives, namely positive and negatively. On the positive side, participants acknowledged that code switching could assist students who struggle with vocabulary or grammar. It may also help reduce anxiety and boost students’ confidence during presentations. However, some lecturers opposed the linguistic practice as they were concerned that excessive use of CS could hinder language development and compromise the goal of maintaining Englishas the medium of instruction (EMI). These findings aimed to assist educators in promoting effective language learning while sustaining English fluency in tertiary-level ESL settings. The study recommended adopting balanced teaching strategies that encourage English usage while offering appropriate linguistic support. In conclusion, while code switching may serve as a helpful tool to overcome language barriers, students were advised to practice it with caution
The Effect of Population Growth, Human Development Index, City Minimum Wage and Sectoral Economic Growth on the Open Unemployment Rate in Jambi City
This study aims to analyze the conditions and the influence of population growth, the Human Development Index (HDI), municipal minimum wage, and sectoral economic growth on the open unemployment rate in Jambi City. The author draws upon findings from previous studies regarding the factors that affect the open unemployment rate. The data utilized in this study comprises time series data from 2000 to 2023, sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Jambi Province and Jambi City. The data was analyzed using a multiple linear regression model, supported by quantitative descriptive techniques and a series of relevant statistical tests. The results of this analysis indicate that the open unemployment rate in Jambi City has increased due to population growth not being matched by job creation, an HDI that has yet to effectively absorb the workforce, a high municipal minimum wage not supported by productivity, and a slowdown in the industrial and service sectors. From 2000 to 2023, the service and industrial sectors have proven to be the most influential in reducing unemployment when experiencing positive growth in Jambi City
