Enhancing Security and Privacy in Credit Transfer Application Systems: A Proposed Framework
Automated credit transfer systems in higher education offer substantial efficiency improvements but also introduce critical data security and confidentiality challenges. This paper addresses the current security vulnerabilities in the Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM) prototype of the Credit Transfer Application System (CTAS), which lacks essential security features such as user authentication, role-based authorization and encrypted data protection. To address these issues, this study proposes a secure academic data management framework incorporating secure user authentication, role-based access control, encrypted database storage and secure HTTPS communication protocols. The research methodology includes comprehensive security requirement analysis, detailed system architecture design, and the development of a validation plan comprising system simulation, penetration testing, performance evaluation, and compliance assessment to be conducted in future work. The proposed framework is expected to strengthen system access control, improve user accountability, enhance data privacy, and facilitate alignment with Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). This study presents a practical and scalable security solution that can guide future system enhancements and deployment, providing a strong foundation for safeguarding academic data and supporting potential cross-institutional credit transfer initiatives. Additionally, the framework contributes to improving institutional credibility, ensuring data protection best practices and promoting digital transformation in academic processes in higher education

The Interplay of Job Satisfaction and Burnout: Occupational Differences between Non-Disciplined and Disciplined Workforces
This study examines the relationship between job satisfaction and burnout among employees in Hong Kong, comparing those in non-disciplined and disciplined workforces. A cross-sectional survey of 287 working individuals reveals a strong negative correlation between job satisfaction and burnout across both groups. However, the nature of this relationship differs significantly based on occupational structure. Employees in disciplined forces, such as police officers and firefighters, exhibit a stronger bidirectional relationship, where lower job satisfaction leads to heightened burnout, and increased burnout further diminishes job satisfaction. In contrast, non-disciplined force employees show a weaker cyclical pattern, suggesting that other occupational factors may moderate this link. Intrinsic job satisfaction, derived from work engagement and personal fulfillment, plays a crucial role in reducing burnout for non-disciplined force employees. Meanwhile, extrinsic factors, such as job security and financial stability, have a greater impact on job satisfaction and burnout among disciplined force employees. The findings highlight the importance of workplace policies tailored to different occupational groups, emphasizing intrinsic motivators in non-disciplined roles and external incentives in disciplined professions. By recognizing the distinct ways in which job satisfaction and burnout interact within structured and flexible work environments, organizations can develop targeted interventions to enhance employee well-being. Addressing both intrinsic and extrinsic job satisfaction factors can mitigate burnout and foster a healthier, more resilient workforce

English Monophthong: Assessing Malay Young Learners’ Perception Accuracy
Intelligibility, the ability to differentiate speech sounds, is crucial for effective communication. While communicating in one’s native language may be straightforward, challenges arise when speaking in a second language like English. This study investigates the accuracy of Malay young learners in Malaysia when distinguishing between three English monophthong pairs: /ɪ/ - /i:/, /Ʌ/ - /ɑ:/, and /ʊ/ - /u:/. Ten 11-year-old students from a semi-urban primary school in Kuala Lumpur participated in a quantitative research study using a descriptive-comparative design. Participants were selected through a Language Profile Test based on Birdsong et al. (2012) and completed a two-alternative forced-choice (2AFC) test using PsychoPy software. Each targeted vowel was presented in blocks and repeated three times. Results indicated that participants could distinguish short and long vowels with an overall accuracy of 73.9%. Notably, they performed best with the pair /ʊ/-/u:/ (98.3%), while distinguishing /ɪ/-/i:/ yielded only 53.3% accuracy, and /Ʌ/-/ɑ:/ achieved 70%. Additionally, participants showed better performance with short vowels (75.6% accuracy) compared to long vowels (72.7% accuracy), although the difference was not statistically significant (t(89) = -.555, p = .580). Overall, the findings demonstrate that participants possess a high level of intelligibility in perceiving and differentiating the targeted English monophthongs
Personality Dimensions and Communication Satisfaction: The Impact of Introversion, Extroversion, and Communication Channels
This study investigates the influence of introversion and extroversion on communication satisfaction, particularly through the lens of preferred communication channels. Drawing upon Social Exchange Theory and Media Richness Theory, this research surveyed 314 residents of Bandar Puncak Alam to assess correlations among personality traits, communication preferences, and satisfaction. Findings reveal that both personality traits and communication mediums significantly influence individuals' communication experiences. Extroverts tend to prefer synchronous, high-richness mediums like face-to-face or video calls, while introverts report greater satisfaction through asynchronous, structured formats like written communication. The study offers insights into how communication environments can be tailored to enhance interpersonal satisfaction across diverse personalities
Family Support and Higher Education Student’s Engagement in Online Business
This study examines the influence of family support on university students’ engagement in online business ventures. With the growing accessibility of digital platforms, more students are exploring online entrepreneurship as a pathway to financial independence and career development. Drawing on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), this research evaluates how family dynamics—such as emotional encouragement, financial support, and entrepreneurial role modeling—shape students’ attitudes, perceived behavioral control, and subjective norms toward online business. A quantitative approach was employed using purposive sampling of 200 university students who are either interested in or currently operating online businesses. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive and reliability analyses. The results indicate that family influence significantly enhances students’ confidence, motivation, and readiness to engage in digital entrepreneurship. The findings underscore the necessity of integrating family involvement in entrepreneurship education and policy initiatives to foster a supportive ecosystem for student-led online ventures
Scoping Review: Assistive Technology in Special Education: A Comparative Analysis of Malaysia and the Global Context with Success Stories
Assistive technology (AT) has revolutionized special education, providing essential tools to enhance learning and accessibility for students with disabilities. This scoping review compares AT implementation in Malaysia with global practices, highlighting key trends, challenges, and success stories. Globally, countries like Finland, Japan, and the United States lead in AT adoption through robust policies, teacher training, and innovative technologies. While Malaysia has made strides under the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2013–2025, challenges persist, including limited funding, inadequate teacher training, and disparities in rural access. Comparative analysis reveals gaps in policy enforcement, resource allocation, and local innovation, but success stories, such as AAC integration and low-cost Braille devices, demonstrate the potential of targeted interventions and partnerships. This study underscores the need for collaborative efforts among policymakers, educators, and stakeholders to address these gaps, enhance AT accessibility, and foster inclusivity in education, contributing to global equity
