This paper compares of the residences in Shihi-guchi and the Jizomachi-guchi. The Yoriki and Ashigaru lived in five towns through the Edo era. The three towns of Shihiguchi-Ikadacho, Okagocho, and Nishi-Ohatacho had Tradesman’s land, Temples, and Samurai residences. The residence of the Matsuoka clan was in located Okobitocho from the Shoho2 year to the kyouho6 year. At the Jizomachi-guchi, there were three towns, Jizomachi, Okumachi, and Soto-Jizomachi. The three towns were also residential areas for lower Samurai such as Yoriki and Ashigaru. It was recognized that the ASHIDA Family’s Shimoyashiki in Kochiseki was in located Soto Jizomachi, and that the number of Samurai residences was larger than that of the Kumiyashiki at the end of the Edo period.departmental bulletin pape

Effects of Oxygen Contained in Intake Air and Supplied Fuel on Operation Characteristics of Diesel Engines

The BDF used in diesel engines has a higher oxygen content than gas oil. Previous studies, which conducted performance tests using mixed gas oil-BDF fuel in a small diesel engine with EGR applied, have confirmed the operating conditions that eliminate drastic differences in thermal efficiency and exhaust gas characteristics even with different fuel BDF mix ratios. Elsewhere, the performance tests also showed that the use of fuel with a high BDF mix ratio suppressed the increase of PM emissions under combustion conditions of reduced oxygen concentration. However, the oxygen content of gas oil and BDF is extremely low compared to that of intake air. Therefore, this study conducted performance tests using gas oil and BDF in a small diesel engine with EGR applied, confirming the effects of oxygen contained in intake air and fuel on operating characteristics.departmental bulletin pape

The Initiatives through Bicycle Utilization Promotion Community (Case of Collaboration to Chamber of Commerce in Sabae)

This paper reports on the "SabaPota de SabaRepo" project implemented in FY2021 in collaboration with the Construction Industry Division of the Sabae Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Yoshimura Laboratory of FUT. The "SabaPota de SabaRepo" has created an opportunity to use bicycles in Fukui Prefecture, which is usually traveled by car, and we believe it is effective as a means to increase interest in MACHIZUKURI using bicycles. We hope that these opportunities will lead to the promotion of initiatives that can be connected to improve the local bicycle use environment and to an increase in the number of local leaders in the community. We would like to continue to the initiatives through Bicycle Utilization Promotion Community in the future.departmental bulletin pape

Optimal Maintenance Strategy for Bridges in Fukui Prefecture using the Data of the First Round Inspection

The author presented the deterioration transfer curves of bridge member elements in Fukui prefecture by using the data of the first round inspection. In this study, the most economical repair plan is determined by modifying the bridge management system (BMS) developed in earlier work to be able to apply it to the new deterioration transfer curves for all bridges in Fukui Prefecture. The accuracy and effectiveness of the BMS are demonstrated in the numerical example. The useful maintenance repair plans and maintenance expenses for all bridges are also presented for the next seventy-five years.departmental bulletin pape

The Effect of the Emergency School Closure to Prevent COVID-19 on Frequency of Exercise - For Elementary School Students Who Did not Have Exercise Habits -

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of the emergency school closure to prevent COVID-19 on frequency of exercise in children without exercise habits. The questionnaire was conducted for 5,033 parents of elementary school students, and received 4,646 responses (response rate 92.3%). Among them, we analyzed 395 children who answered that they had no exercise habits (0 times a month) during the period before school closure. 227 children (57.5%) were inactive during the period of school closure. Of these, 63 children (about 37.5%) continued to exercise even after the school closure was lifted. While the school was closed to prevent COVID-19, about one-third of the children who got the chance to start exercising established their exercise habits.departmental bulletin pape

Research on Causes of the Decline Phenomenon in the Shin-Sakae Shopping Street in Fukui City - Characteristics of the Shopping Street as seen from the Transition of Land Use -

This paper considers the transition and characteristics of land use of Shin-Sakae Shopping Street in Fukui City. As a method, we organized the land use situation of Shin-Sakae Shopping Street every five years and grasped the transition of each. What’s more, we compared and considered the transition in land use in the Shin-Sakae Shopping Street and the neighboring shopping streets. As a result, the number of business stores decreased and the number of vacant stores increased. Therefore, town development companies and citizen groups have implemented initiatives for revitalization. As a result, we are currently curbing the increase in vacant stores. In addition, Shin-Sakae Shopping Street has more stores than neighboring shopping streets, and although the proportion of vacant stores is very high, clothing-related stores are enriched and it became clear that office demand is increasing year by year.departmental bulletin pape

Effect of Number of Cotters on Vertical Joint of Precast Reinforced Concrete Core Wall with Horizontal Tied Rebars

In the core wall system in high-rise buildings, precast core walls are effective for construction because they can be built more quickly than cast-in-place core walls. In this study, lateral loading test results were analyzed on wall columns simulating the corner and the area near the corner of an L-shaped core wall with horizontal tied rebars. The specimen consisted of four square-section precast columns. The vertical joints between the precast columns were grouted with high-strength mortar. Each precast column had cotters at the vertical joint, and horizontal tied rebars were concentrated at the second and third floor levels, and the mid height level of the first story. Based on the results of lateral loading tests, the effect of number of cotters on vertical joint was clarified.departmental bulletin pape

Changes of the Soluble Proteins in Polished Rice after Storage

The protein of rice plays important roles in nutrition and texture of cooked rice. Therefore, we examined the amount of soluble protein after storage of polished rice at 40℃for one month or two months by Lowry method. The soluble protein decreased after storage of polished rice at soaking time from 0.5 h to 16 h. The amount of soluble protein after storage decreased to about 80% in comparison with the amount of soluble protein before storage. There was little deference between one month storage and two months storage. The valance values of cooked rice also decreased after storage. They showed the similar behavior to the soluble protein. In addition, the soluble protein decreased to about 85% by precipitation after heating.departmental bulletin pape
