On the Word Order of the Genitive Noun and its Head Noun in Old English Verse
Get PDFThe aim of this paper is to investigate the word order of the genitive noun and its head noun in Old English verse. Previous studies on the subject in Old English prose have pointed out the following facts: (i) the genitive noun could be placed either before or after its head noun, (ii) the genitive of proper names had a strong preference to occur pronominally throughout the Old English period, (iii) the word order gradually shifted from postnominal genitives (NG) to prenominal genitives (GN) during the Old English period, and (iv) the shift from NG to GN was affected by animacy. We have examined whether these facts found in prose hold true for the word order of the two nouns in verse. As a result, it has been revealed that in Old English verse the shift of the word order from NG toward GN from the early Old English period to the late Old English period did occur and animacy did not have any influence upon this syntactic change.departmental bulletin pape
Transient Response of Moving Vehicles that Receive External Force from Wind or Earthquake
Get PDFNumerical simulations carried out to assess the transient response of passenger vehicles on encountering a gust of wind or a major earthquake when driven at a speed of 100 km/h. The transient response of vehicles significantly affected their steering characteristics. Estimation of pulmonary elastance and static P-V curve by fuzzy reasoning method
Get PDFAbstruct: The characteristic of human lungs is different, and the setting of the respirator is decided by the experience and the perception of the doctor now. Therefore, the suitable setting of ventilation conditions is needed for every patient. The static P-V curve expresses the characteristic of human lungs, and that is needed for the parameter setting of the respirator. This study presents estimation technique of pulmonary elastance and the static P-V curve by using the fuzzy logic. The choice of the fuzzy variables influencing to estimation results is investigated, and the effectiveness of suggested technique is illustrated by an estimation example using real patient data.departmental bulletin pape
Study on Zuiryu Temple Noh Stage lit by Candlelights
Get PDFA Noh play was held in the hattou of Zuiryu Temple lit by candlelights on the anniversary of Lord Toshinaga's death. After the Noh play the Noh stage was re-illuminated by seven candles and a few auxiliary incandescent lamps. It was gloomy and dim, so visitors' eyes were adapted to condition of mesopic vision. The purpose of this paper is to investigate lighting effects in the Noh stage in terms of illuminances and luminances in the work planes. Reevaluation of soil velocity structure model gained through microtremor array observation in Fukui Plain
Get PDFIn order to improve correspondences between ground models based on the microtremor array observation in Fukui Plain, models by the H/V survey method and results of the gravity analysis, the microtremor array ground models were reevaluated. The reevaluation was done by the inverse analysis through GA of observed dispersion curves. The representative of the dispersion curves was selected as to be along a theoretical fundamental mode dispersion curve of the H/V ground model. By using the method of selection, a reasonable evaluation became possible compared with the forward method using prior information. The main results are as follows. In one site it was suggested that the depth of the seismic bedrock of the existing model should be greatly decreased. In another site, by assuming the low frequency region of the dispersion curve as the first mode, and the higher region as the fundamental mode respectively, a more appropriate ground model was able to be obtained. It was concluded that the correspondences between the three models were much improved as a whole.departmental bulletin pape

Laser Two-photon Ionization of Spiropiran in the Presence of Cyclodextrin
Get PDFTransient absorption measurement using 266-nm laser flash photolysis technique was performed with regard to 1',3',3'-Trimethylspiro[1(2H)-benzopyran]-2,2'-indoline:(SP)in the absence and presence of cyclodextrins (CDs) in water solvent. Ionization of SPs occurred within the laser flash (5 ns) to give SPs radical cation (SP・+) and water solvated electron (eaq・-). The ionization yields of SP s in the present of αCD, βCD, mβCD, and γCD, depended on the properties of the complexes with CD, generated form from two-photon excitation with simultaneous irradiation to 266-nm laser. This finding implied that the useful two-photon ionization resulting from the complexes of SP and βCD, SP2 and γCD, photochromic molecule of SP (merocyanine) and αCD, respectively.departmental bulletin pape

Get PDFThis paper considers the change of the samurai's premises in Amakusa-machi and Eiheizi-machi , Kannon-machi referring to the `FUKUI ZOUKA-EZU' . The allotment of the premises in Amakusa-machi changed twice greatly during Syoho4 years from Jyokyo2 years, and Manji2 years from Keicho18 years. As for the premises substitute, many inhabitant were replaced after the revolt in Shimabara and the time of changed shift of feudal lord in the Kanei period. After it, there were many premises substitutes by the influence of the subtraction of Jyokyo3 years. In Eiheiji-machi premises was old and makes allotment of the premises by Keicho 18 years. The other, the mansion substitute between samurai's was repeated in each time, but in Eiheiji-machi it was always the samurai's premises through the Edo era. The allotment of the premises in Kannon-machi did not changed until the late Edo period except that the part of the samurai's premises became the moat by Manji2 years. The premises substitute was performed frequently through the Edo era. However, two writing brushes of these turned into the Jikata-chi temporarily.departmental bulletin pape
