An Analysis of Architectural Form Composition on the Basis of Design Elements Classification into “Plane, Line, and Point"

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to analyze the composition of architectural exterior design. The design elements of exterior composition can be classified into three categories ; Plane, Line and Point. This paper is intended as an analysis of the representative works of the three contemporary Japanese architects, Yoshio Taniguchi, Fumihiko Maki, and Hiroshi Miyazaki on the basis of these three categories as the design elements.departmental bulletin pape

Atmospheric Corrosion of Low Carbon Steels

    Get PDF
We have examined the atmospheric corrosion of SPH440, SPH370 and NTR340 low carbon steels under the conditions of relative humidity of 60~90% and at 25~40℃. When these specimens of low carbon steels were left for 2 days in the atmosphere of high humidity of 90%, red rusts were observed irrespective of temperature. And, in the atmosphere of low humidity of 60%, red rusts were not observed irrespective of temperature. From critical humidity for the atmospheric corrosion, the relation between the absolute humidity and temperature was obtained for three kinds of low carbon steel specimens. The relation was shown by an Arrhenius equation for each specimen, and the activation energy was obtained.departmental bulletin pape

The Nanosize Particle Production with Flame Synthesis Method by using Flashing Spray - The Optimization of Precursor for TiO2 Particle and The Low Boiling Point Solvent -

    Get PDF
The authors proposed a novel nanosize particle production system, by using flash boiling spray. In the previous study, SiO2, Nb2O5 and HfO2 film was formed with CVD method by using flashing spray to improve several kinds of problems such as decomposition of precursor at supply line and evaporator. The particle production system is applied with the CVD method. In this method, liquid precursors are supplied directly to vacuum chamber by an injector and the particle is produced by flame thermal. The technique to improve the vaporization of pressure is proposed by mixing a higher saturated vapor pressure organic solvent because the saturated pressure of precursor is very low. In this paper, Tetraisopoxytitane was used as the precursor and the organic solvent was optimized by consolute temperature, vapor pressure of two phase region and flammable limit. As a result, i-hexane and carbon dioxide were selected.departmental bulletin pape

A Proposal of Teaching Material for Environmental Education with Rainwater Catchment System

    Get PDF
It was investigated how the rainwater catchment system could be effective as a teaching material for environmental education. The system consists of a rainwater storage tank, a pressurizing pump, a flow meter and a signboard to explain the system. The operating simulation and the life cycle inventory analysis of the system suggest that the storage tank and the pump have to be selected carefully from the viewpoint of environmental load. For the effective use of the system on environmental education, it is important that we should have periodical lectures on the reduction of environmental load.departmental bulletin pape

Utilizing art in Fukui city downtown activation business

    Get PDF
We did the activation business for the Fukui city that declined by the downtown's becoming hollow. This business was an art event that gave the paint to the board and the log. It is an attempt to regain the bustle of Fukui city by the child and the parents enjoy producing and exhibiting it to the downtown.departmental bulletin pape

Microtremor array survey on surface soil velocity of KiK-net site in Fukui Prefecture

    Get PDF
Microtremor small array observations were conducted at seven KiK-net earthquake observation station sites in Fukui Prefecture and dispersion curves were obtained. The S wave velocity structures in the vicinity of the surface ground were presumed by inversely analyzing the dispersion curves using genetic algorithm and the corresponding published data were examined. As a result, it was shown to have to check the published data of Izumi Site and Mikata Site, besides Eiheiji Site pointed out that there was problem before.departmental bulletin pape

OPTIMUM DESIGN OF BRIDGE SYSTEM CONSIDERING YIELD CONSTRAINT OF PILE FOUNDATION DUE TO LEVEL 2 EARTHQUAKES

    Get PDF
In this study, a rational and efficient optimal seismic design method for bridge system considering ultimate performance constraints due to level 2 earthquakes is proposed. In the proposed optimum design method, the optimum solutions for the heights of rubber bearings, cross-sectional dimensions and amount of steel reinforcements for RC piers and the detail of concrete pile foundation are determined considering the constraints on the relative horizontal displacements of rubber bearings, the ductile factor of RC piers, and the yield constraint on the cast-in-place concrete pile foundation. To simplify the optimum design problem, the constraint on the RC pile foundation is not dealt with in the optimization process. The optimum design problem is solved by a classical branch and bound method incorporated with the design of experiments efficiently. If the constraint on RC pile foundation is violated, the minimum design variable of the RC pile foundation is replaced and the bridge is re-optimized. The reliability and effectiveness of the proposed design method are demonstrated in the numerical design examples.departmental bulletin pape

Estimation of snow water using satellite images and a snow model

    Get PDF
Snow water accumulated during winter in high mountain area is important water resources in Japan. However, the time and space variation of snow water is not observed exactly because of the poor measurement system of winter precipitation in the area. The author estimated the snow water using the degree-day factor based snow model and a simple spatial distribution model of precipitation. Both calculated snow covered area and snow water were verified to compare with the observed area using MODIS/ Terra Snow Index images (Snow Map) and the Kumokawa dam inflow. The obtained results showed good agreement with the observed of them.departmental bulletin pape

Earthquake Response Analysis of Isolated Buildings Considering around Snow Cover to Huge Earthquakes

    Get PDF
At snowy areas in winter, there is a case that isolated buildings with around the snow cannot move horizontally. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the performance of isolated buildings considering snow cover and to consider the influences of snow cover at snowy areas of isolated buildings when huge earthquakes happen. The maximum response displacement in a seismic layer was stored in a general clearance or less within the range of this analysis considering the rigidity by snow cover around seismic building surroundings of winter at a huge earthquake.departmental bulletin pape
