A Fundamental Examination of Some Principles of Laws and Corporations in Japan
Get PDFActivities of Companies in Japan are affected by many laws. The Constitution of Japan emphasizes the respect of fundamental human rights does control some rights and obligations of the companies. However, the Companies Law is the main law for them. It is the law for companies, stockholders and creditors and explains the relationship between the three parties. In particular, it regards stability of the trading as important. The Companies Law is a special law of the Civil Code. Therefore the Companies law overrides the Civil Code. But it lacks some important statutes, for instance, the good faith principle and the abuse of rights doctrine. In this situation, the Civil Code applies to the companies as the general law of private laws.departmental bulletin pape
UV-Visible Absorption and Fluorescence Spectra of Substituted Polyacetylenes
Get PDFSubstituted polyacetylenes are composed of alternating carbon-carbon double bonds along the main chain and various side groups, and exhibit interesting properties and functions such as various colors, photoconductivity, photoluminescence and electroluminescence. The present study deals with the measurements of UV-visible absorption and fluorescence spectra of six substituted polyacetylene samples aiming at elucidating the effects of side groups on UV-visible absorption and fluorescence. The present study has revealed the following three points: 1) a Si-containing poly(diphenylacetylene) showed strong absorption and fluorescence, 2) poly[1-(trimethylsilyl)-1-propyne] hardly showed absorption and emission in the UV region, and 3) polymers of monosubstituted acetylenes displayed strong absorptions but almost no emissions.departmental bulletin pape

Get PDFEmission control for marine engines started by MARPOL 73/78 ANNEX VI adopted in the IMO (International Maritime Organization) meeting in 1997. This treaty came into effect in May, 2005 and was also retroactive to vessels constructed after Jan. 1, 2000. NOx and SOx are subject to the regulation. It is scheduled to be strengthen in 2011 and in 2016. Thus regulations for marine engines just started and fishing vessels based along the Sea of Japan in Fukui are thought to be constructed before the regulation took into effect. Accordingly we have decided to apply “observation of air pollution by real-time monitoring procedure to focus on NOx" to the theme of our research. Speeding Up of Mass Peak Profile Calculation In Quadrupole GCMS Using GPU
Get PDFSpeeding up using a GPU (Graphic Processing Unit) is studied for computer simulation of mass peak profiles in quadrupole GCMS. Calculations of mass peak profiles are much troublesome because it takes much computing time to get those with a personal computer. In particular, in the case of analyzing unexpected weak sub-peaks such as precursor peaks in the profiles, it is necessary to reduce the statistical variation of the profile curve as possible, so that it need calculate many ion trajectories, probably, up to 10-100 millions. In this study, a GPU is installed into a personal Windows computer, and CUDA parallel computing tecnique is appled to simulate mass peak profiles for a mass filter model with cylindrical rods and pre-rods. Its computation time is compared with one calculated using CPU. The result shows the calculation speed of GPU is at least 10-18 times faster than CPU's.departmental bulletin pape

Get PDFIn this study, we investigate the understanding of traffic rules and the actual behavior of bicycle users in high school. First, we conducted the questionnaire survey at a high school in Fukui. Next, we conducted an on-the-spot investingation about bicycle behavior and habits in Fukui. As a result we can see that, even though students wrote that they understand the "light on at night" rule, in reality the actual behavior was different. The ratio of understanding to actual use was very different. In the future, we should make an effort to make students understand the traffic rule and apply it in real life.departmental bulletin pape
Bursty Traffic by a PEP in an IP Network Using a Satellite Link and Its Mitigation Scheme
Get PDFThis paper investigates a TCP proxy, called a PEP, which splits a TCP connection to employ a specially tailored TCP connection over a satellite link. This paper describes how large size data is forwarded inside the PEP when a packet loss occurs on the satellite link. It also identifies a problem that the output traffic from the PEP becomes bursty due to the large size forward data. To mitigate bursts of packets by the PEP this paper proposes a scheme that the PEP performs a shaping function which places a gap between two consecutive segments sent by the PEP. Simulation results using ns-2 show that bursty packets are issued by the conventional PEP and the shaping function suppresses them effectively.departmental bulletin pape
