The Retrogressive movement of eccentric vortex in the Column Vessel
Our experiment found that the center of an eccentric vortex retrogrades and move nutationally when modeled using an eccentric vortex of water in the column vessel. This paper reports that this retrogressive movement is established and caused by the propagation of only one wave. This result is in line with the findings of previous experiments.departmental bulletin pape
Load Dependence of the Friction Coefficient of Diamond-Like Carbon Films
The pin-on-plate friction test was carried out to clarify the mechanism of low friction coefficient of diamond like carbon (DLC) films. DLC films were coated on test specimens by plasma assisted chemical vapor deposition (PCVD) method, and unbalanced magnetron sputtering (UBMS) method. The hydrogen content of former DLC was 14.5% and that of latter was 14.7%. The load on the pin was varied in the range from 50gf to 400gf to measure the load dependency of the coefficient of friction. As a result of friction test for the combination of non-coated SKH51 pin and DLC coated plate, it became clear that the coefficient of friction tended to decrease with the increase of load. By the Raman spectrum analysis, the debris adhered around the wear scar was assigned as worn-out mixture of DLC film and pin materials. Generation of this material was presumed to be the cause of low coefficient of friction of DLC. The coefficient of friction by the combination of DLC coated pin and DLC coated plate were lower than that of non-coated pin and DLC coated plate. From these results, it was understood that wear products consisted of only carbon materials was preferable to develop a low coefficient of friction.departmental bulletin pape
EVALUATION OF ZnS INORGANIC EL DEVICE
ZnS(Cu)EL devices were fabricated by using screen printing method and their fundamental performances were evaluated. Emission of white light was attempted by dispersing powder of rhodamine dye into light emitting layer (ZnS(Cu) ink) in order to apply ZnS EL device to the lighting and we identified white emission on the EL device dispersed with 2 weight % of rhodamine dye.departmental bulletin pape
Evaluation of Tsunami Disaster by the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake
The 2011 off the pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake (Mw = 9) was one of the most devastating earthquakes in Japanese History. Mainly because of the extremely large and widespread tsunami, it accounted for nearly 19,000 people, missing or dead. This paper is, therefore, focused on the tsunami damage. As a First step to evaluate the tsunami damage, the recovery process of the flooded area has been monitored quantitatively using satellite remote sensing techniques. The preliminary results indicate that the flooded area (wet land) becomes small gradually, compared with just after the huge tsunami, however, the recovery is not monotonouse, fluctuating by rain, snow and rise of a tide level.departmental bulletin pape
Driving Mechanism of a Travelling Wave Ultrasonic Motor -Nonlinear Contact Behavior between a Rotor and a Stator-
We discuss the contact behavior between a stator and a liner that sticks to a rotor of an ultrasonic motor. It is very important to examine the mechanism of the contact behavior to improve the energy efficiency and durability of an ultrasonic motor. We already proposed a numerical technique with use of Finite Element Method for linear contact behavior which contains non-contact, slip contact and stick contact. In this paper, we expand this technique to nonlinear behavior on the basis of the incremental theory because the actual contact behavior is nonlinear. And we obtain some pieces of new knowledge about the nonlinear contact behavior between the stator and the liner.departmental bulletin pape
Comparison of Japanese and Chinese about the direction of up and down influneced by the idea of consideration between giving and accepting with a focus on the verbs of giving and accepting in Japanese
In 『Comparison of Japanease and Chinese about the direction of up and down in the relationship between giving and accepting』, it's said about the expression of giving and accepting in Japanese, there's a complicated system like honorific and unhonorific expression, so there's the direction of up and down in the relationship between giving and accepting. So if there's the direction of up and down in the relationship between giving and accepting. So if there's the direction of up and down in the dialogues, the honorific expression like 「~te a ge ru/te sa shi a ge ru」「~te ku da sa ru」must be used frequently. But from the survey with 21 novels, it's found that Japanese doesn't use those honorific expression usually. As a result, it's clear that although in Japanese there's the direction of up and down, the direction is influneced by the idea of consideration. But how this idea does it? The Changing Image of Branwell Bronte
Branwell Brontë, the only son of the Brontë family, has often been described in the Brontë biographies as a drunken social outcast. However, in the last twenty years, researchers have found out that Branwell's image as afailure has been exaggerated to a great extent to illuminate his three sisters' diligence and glory. They also have attempted to re-evaluate his writings and artistic productions in a fair manner. Thus, the image of Branwell has recently been dramatically changed. In this paper, I will examine the changing image of the only son of the Brontës and consider how it affects the biographical aspects of the Brontës. Structural Chemistry of the Cyclodextrin Inclusion Complexes of Environmental Load Substances - X-ray Structural Studies on 1,4-dioxane-α-cyclodextrin Complex
The crystal structure of an inclusion complex of α-cyclodextrin with 1,4-dioxane has been determined by X-ray diffraction method. The crystals were very unstable in air, so they were treated by the flash cooling method under low temperature gas flow of liquid nitrogen. The complex crystallized in monoclinic, P21 with a=14.8686(3), b=22.7905(4), c=16.5430(3)Å, β=104.498(1)°. The inclusion complex was composed of three dioxane molecules and a dimer of α-cyclodextrin. Among three dioxane molecules, two of them are fixed firmly to each α-cylrodextrin monomer, however, the remaining dioxane molecule is fixed loosely in between both cyclodextrins and is structurally disordered.departmental bulletin pape
