Investigation of the Information Processing Educations in the Sports-related Departments of Universities, and an Educational Implementation Plan

    Get PDF
In recent years, people with the concern about sports and health are increasing in number, and the universities which have the sports-related and/or health-related departments are increasing. Fukui University of Technology plans the installation of the department of sports and health science towards establishment in April, 2015. The author is teaching many information processing-related subjects in the department of industrial business and engineering now. In this paper, the names of the sports-related departments of universities are investigated, and the universities where students can acquire the license of the health and physical education of junior high school and/or high school are investigated, and the contents (syllabuses) of the information processing-related subjects in the sports-related departments are investigated. The private plan of the information processing education in the department of sports and health science of Fukui University of Technology is also shown.departmental bulletin pape

Investigation of relation between the yellow sand and the foot-and-mouth disease in Miyazaki Prefecture in March 2010 by using MODIS images

    Get PDF
In Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan, the O-type foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) appeared and spread from March to July, 2010. The first infected livestock by FMD virus was detected on March 26, 2010 at Tsuno Town in Miyazaki Prefecture. The O-type FMD was found on March 14 at the suburb of Lanzhou City in Gansu and on March 25, 2010 in Shanxi, China. Maki et al. (2011, 2012) presumed the cause of the first FMD in Miyazaki as follows: The yellow sand adhered with FMD virus was transported from Gansu to Miyazaki by global westerly winds. In this paper, we investigate whether the yellow sand generated in Gunsu flew to Miyazaki in March, 2010 by using MODIS data of Terra and Aqua satellites. True-color mosaic images, AVI mosaic images and T11 mosaic images from China to Japan are made and examined. The aerosol vapor index (AVI) is defined as AVI=T12-T11, where T12 and T11 are the brightness temperatures at 12μm and 11μm wavelength, respectively. The AVI can detect the dust and sandstorms (DSS, i.e., yellow sands) in satellite images both at daytime and night. From AVI images, DSS existed at Lanzhou City in Gansu on March 19, and in the south area of Shanxi on March 20, and at Tsuno Town in Miyazaki on March 21. If Maki et al. are right, the cause of the first FMD in Miyazaki in March 2010 is that DSS generated in Gansu on March 19 flew to Miyazaki on March 21.departmental bulletin pape

    OE bereafian and Prepositional Phrases

    Get PDF
OE bereafian, which is one of the basic verbs of deprivation in Old English and developed into ModE bereave, can occur with three kinds of preposition: of, at, and on. OE “X bereafian Y of Z" comes from “X bereafian + Accusative + Genitive" and can be syntactically tantamount to ModE “X bereave Y of Z". However, “X bereafian Y at Z" and “X bereafian Y on Z" are syntactically and semantically different from “X bereafian Y of Z". Both “at NP" and “on NP" in the constructions must be interpreted as prepositional phrases of place.departmental bulletin pape

The characteristic behavior of different age groups to traffic regulations on bicycle passing.

    Get PDF
In this study we aim to consider an enforcement method of bicycle education for the future. Therefore we try to investigate the differences in behavior of bicycle uses according to their age group. We investigated about “parallel cycling". "lights on at night" and “the passing places in a pavement and a crossing" by an on-The-Spot survey in two cities. As a result we can see that, the bicycle users tended to violate the rules differently according to their age group. However persons of advanced age tend to observe traffic laws. The enforcement of bicycle education suitable for each age group in reference to the findings of this study will be necessary in the future.departmental bulletin pape

Monitoring of debris flow in the Pacific Ocean generated by large tsunami caused by the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku earthquake

    Get PDF
The 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku earthquake was one of the most devastating earthquakes in Japanese history. The extremely large and widespread tsunami it generated caused a large amount of debris to flow into the Pacific Ocean. It is important to understand debris flow in the ocean for both environmental research and international relations. In this study, tsunami debris was monitored by satellite remote sensing. As a first step, we propose a method for identifying debris floating on turbid sea areas through thin clouds using two-dimensional scatter diagrams for MODIS spectral bands. Characteristic regions in the images are effectively separated by using the scatter diagram. Moreover, a method for discrimination of floating tsunami debris from turbid sea areas using SST (Sea Surface Temperature) images is proposed. We also report initial results of monitoring debris floating in the Pacific Ocean.departmental bulletin pape

Current status and future perspective of 10m paraboli cantenna system in Awara campus as a satellite earth station opening a new window to universe

    Get PDF
For a long time, the universe has been yearning that is not accessible directly for general public. However, progress of nano-satellite technologies in the past 10 years is changing the situation and going to open a new window to universe. In the present stage of nano-satellite technology, a satellite earth station which realizes high speed data communication is strongly needed to put the nano-satellite technology to practical use. Then, we have started a data reception project by using 10m parabolic antenna system in Awara campus for Japanese 9 nano-satellites under the collaboration with UNISEC (UNIversity Space Engineering Consortium) and NESTRA (NExt generation Space system Technology Research Association). The first data reception was started on Oct. 4 in 2012 for nano-satellite RAIKO and we have succeeded in obtaining many clear image data from RAIKO which show the good performance of our 10m parabolic antenna system. In the article, we mention the current status of data reception project and future perspective which will open the new window to universe for us.departmental bulletin pape

This study about expression and the interaction that used the space grasp by reflecting a photographed panoramic picture on cylindrical screen. In late years production equipment or the software about the panorama spread, and the price became cheaper and easy to do an entry to production. This paper was described about production process and vision for the projection experiments with panoramic images using the panoramic mirror. Regional Industry Promotion by Deveropment of Stone Products.ISHIKUNOMISEGURA2012

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to promote local industry by the development of stones products. Stones industry that is traditional in the region is on the verge of serious crisis with increasing imported stones. We have been working on the development of new stone products produced with students. The produce of the building stones products had been performed by students and of University of Tsukuba. In this time, students of Fukui University of Technology participated in the production. An example to perform industrial development by building stones supplier cooperating with students was reported.departmental bulletin pape

Development of the Web Application for Rainwater Harvesting System Evaluation

    Get PDF
In recent years, the installation example of the small-scale rainwater harvesting system to ordinary homes is increasing in Japan. The purpose of installing rainwater harvesting system is classified into, reservation of water resources, disaster measures, and cost reduction and environmental load reduction by tap water saving. In order to achieve these purposes, we have to maike it the system design based on the simulation result. However, small-scale rainwater harvesting system for home use is generally installed without evaluation. In this report, the Web application which can perform easily the operation simulation of rainwater harvesting system on Web is introduced.departmental bulletin pape
