A Study on Design Development of a Medical Disaster Prevention Product
At 14:46 local time on March 11, 2011, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake occurred off the coast of northeast Japan. It was one of the most powerful earthquakes to have hit Japan. The many hospitals which are located at Fukushima, Miyagi and Iwate prefecture suffered damage from this Mega-earthquake. Forever, little is known about the damaged of hospital have not generally decreased in the last 20 years. In this paper, we used the following questionnaire to clarify the damage factor of a hospital. It was found that Medical disaster prevention product was a top priority.departmental bulletin pape
Buffer Reduction Schemes for the Transport Protocol
This paper studies the buffer reduction schemes for the Transport Protocol TCP. By using network simulations, it shows that a TCP connection requires large number of receive buffers to achieve high throughput. However, it also shows that theses buffers are not utilized efficiently. To improve utilization of the buffers this paper proposes common receive buffers for multiple TCP connections. Evaluation by simulations proves that the common buffer scheme can reduce the number of required buffers. Although segment losses are observed, its effect to the total throughput is allowable. This paper also studies outstanding buffers for the sending side of TCP and shows that large amount of outstanding buffers are held in provision for retransmissions. To mitigate this problem this paper proposes utilization of secondary storage for the outstanding buffers. Although extra delay is introduced for retransmissions, its effect to the total performance is limited.departmental bulletin pape
A Study on Community Development Utilizing the Watershed Area
We researched cases for community development utilizing the watershed area nationwide. We conducted a questionnaire survey on "Let's go to the river!" and "Stylish re・Bar" which was held in Hino River. Fukui Prefecture intended to effectively utilize the community developments. It is highly expected as a place to contribute to the community development, such as the initiatives in the "Arakawa" and the "City of Hiroshima water" and the watershed residents are hoping to about what are ways to utilize from Hino River.departmental bulletin pape
The Change of the Samurai's Premises in Jyonohashi-area, Part 3 A Study on the Samurai's Premises of the Fukui Castle Town, Part 25
This paper considers the changes of the samurai's premises in the Jyonohashi-area referring to the `FUKUIJYOKA-EZU'. The premises of the north side and the east side of the Jyonohashi-area were the areas that depended on reduction and the increase of the samurai between Genbun 4 from Jokyo 3. As for the three wards in the north side, constitution of the streets and the allotment of the premises of the whole area greatly changed later from the middle of the Edo era. In the same way as allotment of the premises, many samurai performed premises substitution from Jokyo 3 to Genbun 4. It was the same area, but, in the east side and the west, the changes of the samurai's premises were greatly different.departmental bulletin pape
Basic Study on PWR Plant Behavior under the Condition of Severe Accident
In this paper, we report on the core cooling effect by natural circulation cooling of the primary cooling system in all core cooling function loss accidents caused by SBO in PWR plant compared with BWR. We also report on the core cooling effect by using air as the final heat sink in place of the seawater by opening the main steam valve of the steam generator. On the other hand, we discuss the behavior of PWR plant in the most serious case that the damage such as LOCA is caused by earthquake and that SBO due to the subsequent tsunami causes the reactor isolation and all function of reactor core cooling system loss. That is the case that LOCA and SBO occur in superimposed manner. We can show the results from the simulation experiments that, in PWR plant, even if it is fell into the reactor core cooling function loss due to SBO, natural circulation cooling can keep the reactor core cool down as long as the feed water is supplied to SG by the turbine-driven auxiliary feed-water pump and also that the cooling effect of even more is expected by ensuring the heat-pass to the atmosphere by opening the main steam valve. We also clarify the plant behaviors under the condition that LOCA and SBO occur in superimposed manner in PWR through the simulation experiments.departmental bulletin pape
Non-contact Quantitative Microwave Detection of Radiation Induced Degradation of Polymers (IV)
It is very important to measure the degree of deterioration for the cable used in long-term operated nuclear power plants. We developed the nondestructive measurement technology utilizing microwave technology to assess cable degradation. In the present study, microwave frequency of the Q-band (43GHz) was used for the dielectric absorption measurement. The material used for dielectric absorption measurement was the radiation/thermal aged cable which was produced by JNES. The data for dielectric absorption measurement showed a correlation with the master curve for tensile elongation. The dielectric absorption measurement has proved to be an effective non-destructive diagnosis technology to assess the degradation and residual life for electrical cables of the EP rubber cable type tested at radiation/thermal aging condition in the test.departmental bulletin pape
Experimental Study of a Self-Excited Vibration of a Pipe Conveying Fluid
Lateral vibration of a pipe conveying fluid has become a generic problem of a self-excited vibration of a continuous body. In this paper, we conduct some experiments of the self-excited pipe vibration due to the internal fluid flow using the attached end mass as a control parameter. The experiments are conducted with the silicon rubber pipe and the internal fluid is water. The non-contact 3-dimensional measurements of the lateral deflections are done with the image processing system which is composed of two CCD cameras, light source, reflector and computer. We clarify some non-planar vibrations (chaotic vibrations and mixed modal vibrations).departmental bulletin pape
Deterioration Characteristics of Bridges with Short Range Spans in Echizen City
The bridge maintenance strategies have been established for all bridges with long spans of more than 15m in Fukui prefecture. Recently, each local government started to inspect bridges with short range spans of less than 15m for maintenance of those bridges. Echizen city has 202 numbers of bridges with short range spans, and 98 numbers of bridges in those have been inspected in collaboration with Echizen city and Fukui University of Technology. In this study, the deterioration characteristics of member elements in those bridges are described and the deterioration transfer curves are introduced for future bridge maintenance. Furthermore, the importance of classification of deterioration transfer curves for three types of member elements with high, standard and slow velocity deteriorations is emphasized to estimate the future deterioration, accurately.departmental bulletin pape
City Type Flood Mitigation System by Using Rainwater Harvesting Systems
In recent years, the localized torrential rain by greenhouse warming have occurred frequently. The flood damage in an underground center has become serious, and development of a city type flood mitigation system is needed in urban areas. In this research, the city type flood mitigation system using the rainwater harvesting system which we proposed was estimated. This system drains the rainwater in a rainwater storage tank in advance based on the information on forecast of localized torrential rain. Outflow control of the heavy rain by the rainwater storage tank is performed efficiently, and can make the effect of the system maximize by this system. Computer simulation evaluation of this system in Fukui-shi, Fukui was performed. As a result, it turned out that the city type flood mitigation system which we proposed has the flood mitigation capability to be about 6 times much as usual rainwater harvesting system.departmental bulletin pape
