At present much of news media are classifying China, Korea and North Korea as "Anti-Japan" countries, while the rest of Asian countries as "Pro-Japan" countries. A Research for Aerial Handwritten Gesture Recognition with Kinect Interaction
This paper describes a method to recognize a character handwritten in the air. We prototyped a character recognition system with Kinect sensor. This recognition system uses the motion direction of hands movement detected by Kinect sensor. It also uses the information of pen up and down detected by Kinect Interaction. It selects and orders character candidates with DP (dynamic programming) matching. Measurement of Seagrass Beds in Obama Bay Using Satellite Remote Sensing
The purpose of our research is to develop a procedure for extracting information on seagrass beds from multi-spectral satellite images with high spatial resolution. As the first step of this research, a field observation of seagrass beds in Obama Bay as a test site has been conducted using multi-spectral camera (ADC3). The observation results show that the NDVI obtained from multi-spectral camera is a good index to extract seagrass that lives in shallow sea. Based on this result, the procedures to obtain information on the density of seagrass and the area of seagrass beds using NDVI images obtained from high resolution satellite sensors were proposed. Relationship between Head Speed of Bat Swing and Handgrip Strength and Power
This study examined the relationship between head speed of bat swing and handgrip strength and power. Participants were 33 healthy, right-handed university baseball players (age: 20.4 ± 1.1 years) with more than nine years of experience. Head speed of bat swing, handgrip strength (maximal voluntary contraction: MVC) and power (at 40%, 50%, and 60%MVC) were measured. Head speed showed significant and moderate or high correlation (r = 0.71, 0.65) with each handgrip strength and significant and low correlation with 40% MVC (r = 0.39) and 50% MVC (r = 0.34) handgrip power. It was estimated that, regardless of whether the player was left or right-handed, the relationship between head speed of bat swing and handgrip strength was high.departmental bulletin pape
Change in Structure of 9Cr-1Mo Steel by Heat-treatment after Cold Working
The change in structure of 9Cr-1Mo steel caused by heat-treatment after cold working was investigated on the basis of Vickers hardness test, X-ray diffraction, and SEM observation. Many precipitates of chromium carbide were observed in the surface of cold-rolled specimens. By the heat-treatment at 700℃, the growth of grain and precipitate were observed. We measured Vickers hardness, HV, and the half-value width of X-ray diffraction peak for the specimen heat-treated after the cold-rolling. By heat-treatment at 100-200℃, HV slightly increased, but the half-value width was nearly constant. At the heat-treatment temperature at 200-500℃, Vickers hardness, HV, increased slightly, and the half-value width decreased. These phenomena result from the diffusion of interstitial impurities around dislocations. At 500-700℃, both HV and the half-value width decreased. The decrease in HV and the half-value width is caused by recrystallization, that is, large decrease in dislocation density.departmental bulletin pape

Study on Skill Evaluation in Net-type Sports When the Player is without the Ball
This study examined methods of evaluating skill and physical ability of net-type sports players in situations when the player is without the ball and to consider how these methods can be applied to teaching in physical education classes and club activities.Participants were 25 adult (age: 23.2 ± 4.17,height: 173.1 ± 4.64cm,weight: 67.9 ± 7.01 kg) (“top athlete group") and 25 young soft tennis players (age: 16.8 ± 1.84,height: 173.6 ± 5.03cm,weight: 65.0 ± 6.08 kg) (“youth group") with high ranks in Japan.Five tests were conducted with both groups.The top athlete group had significantly higher scores than the youth group on four tests: the sidestep test,back-and-forth and side-to-side shuttle-run tests,and spider test.These tests are effective in assessing the skills of a net-type sports player in a situation where the player is without the ball and can be considered valuable tools in coaching practical skills.departmental bulletin pape
Influence of Civic Marathons on Regional Revitalization -Advancement of Sport Society and Safety Management-
The purpose of this study was to reexamine the current state and issues regarding domestically held civic marathons, and to contribute to the advancement of regional sports societies and the revitalization of the local community. In many cases, the primary objective of civic marathons is to promote and sustain physical fitness with in the local community ranging from infants to seniors. In recent years, however, they have evolved into a means to reinvigorate the local community, led by regional authoritative bodies. As a result, its focus has come to place more priority on increasing the number of participants, and the emphasis on its original objective to promote the physical well-being of the local residents has become secondary. Improvement of the Estimation Accuracy of Pulmonary Elastance by Recursive Optimization Method
The characteristic of pulmonary is comprised of the pulmonary internal pressure and the pulmonary volume. However, we do not understand the pulmonary internal pressure, because it cannot measure the pulmonary internal pressure by the respirator. Then, the characteristic of pulmonary is different, and the setting of the respirator is decided by the experience and the perception of the doctor now. Therefore, the suitable setting of ventilation conditions is needed for every patient. The static P-V curve expresses the characteristic of human lungs, and that is needed for the parameter setting of the respirator. Purpose of this study is to develop a method to estimate the static P-V curve and the pulmonary elastance of the patient. In our previous work, we proposed technique that separated parameters estimation procedure of the pulmonary elastance (θf ) and parameters estimation procedure of the other terms (θo). In this paper, a recursive estimation method of the pulmonary elastance model's parameters is addressed to improve the accuracy of estimation model. Change in Structure of SUS316FR Stainless Steel by Heat-treatment after Cold Working
The change in structure of SUS316FR stainless steel caused by heat-treatment after cold working was investigated on the basis of Vickers hardness test, X-ray diffraction, and SEM observation. At the heat-treatment temperature below 300℃, Vickers hardness, HV, increased slightly, and half-value width of X-ray diffraction peak decreased slightly. These phenomena result from the diffusion of interstitial impurities to dislocation core. Between 300℃ and 500℃, HV was approximately constant, and the half-value width decreased. These phenomena result from the rearrangement of dislocations. At temperatures above 500℃, both HV and the half-value width decreased. The decrease in HV and the half-value width was thought to be caused by re-crystallization with the heat-treatment and large decrease of dislocation density. By the heat-treatment above 700℃, grain size was grown.departmental bulletin pape
