Study on Pre-treatment Methods for Methane Fermentation of Waste Activated Sludge
Methane fermentation of wastewater and solid waste is an environment-friendly process that destroys organics in the waste and, at the same time, produces the biogas energy. In the methane fermentation of sewage sludge, as waste activated sludge is considered rate-limiting, numerous researches on pre-treatment methods have been conducted to enhance the hydrolysis of waste activated sludge. In this study, thermal treatment, electron irradiation and thermal aerobic fermentation were investigated by vial tests using the seed sludge from thermal methane fermentation operated at 55oC. Thermal treatment and electron irradiation improved dewaterability significantly, but produced color. Electron irradiation and thermal aerobic fermentation increased methane production slightly. Electron irradiation appears to have a thermal effect due to the increase in temperature during the pre-treatment. Thermal treatment and thermal aerobic fermentation are advantageous from an economical point of view.departmental bulletin pape

Efforts for Information Ethics Education at Information System Center
The new curriculum guidance for defining the basic standard for education requests for teaching the risk, people can encounter under rapid changes, to high schoolteachers. As one of education institutions, we have to face up to the fact. We introduce the efforts for Information Ethics at Information System Center and validate the ones. Furthermore, the modality of Information Ethics Education in our university is discussed. Finally, we look toward the future of the education. How the Knowledge System of Product Design Varies with Era
In order to research the variation of knowledge system of Product Design with era, I selected three books which were published in 1960s, 1980s and 2000s in Japan. From these books I dig out many terms of knowledge, and assort them into three categories, (1) the common terms among three books, (2) two books and (3) one term in one book. (1) means the basic knowledge of Product Design for a long term, such as a general idea, history, form and function. (3) means the new terms of the era. Initial observation results of local circulation in Fukui plain by using a 1.3GHz Wind Profiler Radar
Wind Profiler Radar (WPR) is well known as a powerful tool to investigate the wind velocity in atmospheric boundary layer which plays an important role in weather forecasting and diffusion of air pollutant. In the project of “Formation of research base for measurement and conservation of environment in Hokuriku area" supported by MEXT, a WPR using L band radio wave was installed at Awara campus on March 2012, and continuous observation has been conducted since December 2012. As the results of initial observation, various wind data, which are useful for environmental monitoring of Fukui, has been obtained such as land and see breeze circulation or local wind system related to heavy rainfall in the northern area of Fukui prefecture. Fabrication and Characterization of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells of the New Functions –Logo / Flexible / with Capacitor–
We demonstrated the fabrication and characterization of dye-sensitized solar cell, consisting of the cis-bis(isothiocyanato) bis(2,2'-bipyridyl-4,4'-dicarboxylato) ruthenium(II)using the logo, the polyethylene naphthalate films and a capacitor. The solar cells using the logo and the films as flexible devices had a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of ~1.0 % under AM 1.5illumination at 100×10-3W m-2 . The results indicate that our techniques to produce photovoltaic cells for eco-devices can be used for future research on the application of biomass material devices. The dye-sensitized solar cell with capacitor stored electricity under the sunlight irradiation, which enable it to operate a motor inside the darkness.departmental bulletin pape
An Economic "Ripple Effect" Simulation Using Input-Output Analysis : A Case of Liaoning Province in China
We simulate an Economic "Ripple Effect" using input-output analysis. In particular, this study examines the economic effect of a nuclear power plant construction investment in Liaoning Province in China. As a result of the simulation, it is expected that the implementation of the project of 25 billion yuan will induce approximately a 2.41 times production inducement effect in that area. Especially influence on the nonmetal mineral manufacturing industry and the metal refinement rolling processing industry in Liaoning Province is big. The input-output tables of China are published every five years like in Japan. This study uses 2007 input-out tables of China, so the simulation result depends on the industrial structures of that year.departmental bulletin pape
A Consideration about the Various Situation Occurred after the Accident of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (About Exposure Dose of the Evacuation
It seems the most important among the various situation happened that the evacuation of residents had been carried out after the accident of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station. There are both of results of the environmental radiation monitoring of 2011, 2012 and 2013, and calculation or assumption method of avoided annual exposure dose due to evacuation in this paper. And so, calculation or assumption results and some consideration concerning that are indicated here. The evacuation areas were decided based on this assumption. The many people hope to come back. If the radiation dose level become under the standard of restriction and the many people take understanding of the radiation influence, the many people will come back. A Study on The Actual Application and Behavior of Traffic Rules about Bicycle-use for High School Students
Recently, the amount of accidents involving bicycles is increasing more than other traffic accidents. Especially, there are a lot of accidents with high school students. In this study, we investigate the actual application and behavior of traffic rules for high school bicycle users. First, we conducted a questionnaire survey at high schools. Next, we conducted an on-the-spot survey about bicycle behavior and habits in the school zone for students around the questionnaire survey schools. As a result, we clarified a difference by the actual application and behavior of the traffic rule. Furthermore, we clarified a difference about the actual behavior for the students at going to school and leaving school. An Experimental Apparatus in Mechanical Vibrations for Educations(Forced Vibration of a Two-Degree-of-Freedom System)
We focus on a forced vibration of a two degree-of-freedom system which makes a translational motion and a rotating motion around the center of gravity. This two degree-of-freedom model is closely related to the pitching in dynamics of an automobile. We construct an apparatus in mechanical vibration for educations. The displacements of translational motions and an external excitation are measured by three eddy current displacements sensors. Experiments are conducted using the frequency of the external excitation as a control parameter. It is observed that there are two resonant points and pitching motions occur in the vicinity of higher resonant point.departmental bulletin pape
