The Large Green Wall Cultivation and the Cool Breeze Effect

    Get PDF
In recent years, many green walls are cultivated in Japan. In this study, a large-scale green wall of width 18m and height 10m was cultivated. The cool breeze effect by the large-scale green wall was estimated from photo which were taken with a fixed point web camera, at room temperature, and 1 day watering amount. The results showed the largescale green wall has a cool breeze effect of 2°C. Moreover, the water consumption increased with the large-scale green wall growth, and it was in inverse proportion to the humidity. Additionally, the water consumption increased with the hours of sunshine and the temperature.departmental bulletin pape

Extraction of Marine Debris in the Sea of Japan Using Satellite Remote Sensing

    Get PDF
The flow of marine debris in the ocean causes extensive damage to coastal environments. It is considered important to understand the flow of marine debris in the Sea of Japan for environmental research purposes. The small size of most marine debris in the Sea of Japan means that marine debris cannot be confirmed directly, even when a high-spatial-resolution satellite image is used. Thus, in order to extract candidate pixels containing possible marine debris, pixels with spectra that differ from those of the surrounding ocean and the wave crests were identified. As a first step towards monitoring marine debris, a method for identifying marine debris floating on the Sea of Japan has been proposed that uses a histogram showing the distance from the regression line of the scatter diagram of satellite spectral bands.departmental bulletin pape

Methane Fermentation of Food and Paper Wasted from Fukui Campus

    Get PDF
Methane fermentation of the biomass wastes, food and paper wasted from Fukui Campus of Kanai Gakuen, was investigated in this study. The methane fermentation reactor was operated at 50 days hydraulic residence time and a mesophilic temperature of 35oC. The feed was food waste for the first 49 days, and then was mixed with paper waste which was increased from 2.5 to 20 g wet/day gradually. The reactor was unstable during the start-up period, but was recovered after about 20th days. The volatile solids (VS) destruction obtained varied from about 70% for food waste only to about 86% for food waste mixed with paper waste of 20 g/d. The biogas production was between 0.64 and 0.91 L/gVS fed. The performance agreed with the estimates from stochiometric relationships. The results indicated that methane fermentation technology is suitable for treating those wastes and producing energy.departmental bulletin pape

Development of Weeding Robot “TAMBA" Functional Model for Paddy Fields

    Get PDF
Increased public interest in food safety and clean agriculture (e.g., ecological agriculture, organic culture and agrochemical-free cultivation) is driving a production system change from dependence on and use of agrochemicals toward their elimination. However, this raises a huge time- and labor-consuming problem with weeds. The weeding robot “TAMBA" proposed by authors decreases weeds in paddy fields without resorting to herbicides. "TAMBA" uses omni-wheel which can move in any direction, at any angle, without rotating beforehand. Final goal is to runs on schedule, return to dock and recharge like “ROOMBA". In this time, we made “TAMBA" functional model which estimate omni-wheel system moved by remote control.departmental bulletin pape

For Environmental Administration of Fukui Prefecture municipality as seen from the Basic Environment Plan

    Get PDF
Basic Environment Plan is a plan that has been summarized in order to comprehensively and systematically promote measures for environmental protection. Therefore, if you look environmental basic plan, municipal how support environmental conservation, it is possible to know about what you want to any environment. In this paper, we obtain the Basic Environment Plan from each municipality website of Fukui prefecture, we report the result of performing a comparative study. A result of the investigation, the contents of the Basic Environment Plan, the part that is similar in many cases. Among them, have been made efforts to put the uniqueness of the region. Problem of the case to proceed with the Basic Environment Plan is a description of the citizen. In order to advance to enable the Basic Environment Plan, it should be explained in the newsletter and various events.departmental bulletin pape

A Consideration about Present Circumstances and Future Themes in Small and Medium-sized Business Accounting Standards

    Get PDF
In Japan, two small and medium-sized business accounting standards exist now. The former one is released in2005. Former standard is difficult to be applied for finance division in small and medium-sized enterprises. So, only After 7years, the latter one announced. Compared with the former and the latter one, the latter one is suitable for many small and medium-sized enterprises. But they do not penetrate. For Japan's economy, we require that regional financial instisutions support small and medium-sized enterprises in such a method of reductions of interest payments if enterprises apply the latter accounting standards.departmental bulletin pape

Non-contact Quantitative Microwave Detection of Radiation Induced Degradation of Polymers (V)

    Get PDF
It is very important to measure the degree of deterioration for the cable used in long-term operated nuclear power plants. We developed the nondestructive measurement technology utilizing microwave technology to assess cable degradation. In the present study, microwave frequency of the Q-band (43GHz) was used for the dielectric absorption measurement. Presented were resonant frequency for microwave resonator measured in the temperature range from 16.9 to 24.6℃and the humidity range from 24.1 to 35.1%. In different measurement conditions, the data were discussed.departmental bulletin pape

Relationship between Kick Speed and Leg Power and between Kick Speed and Ankle Joint Flexibility in Competitive Swimmers

    Get PDF
This study aimed to examine the relationship between kick speed and leg power and between kick speed and ankle joint flexibility in competitive swimmers. Participants included 10 young competitive male swimmers. Kick speed, leg power (using the Wingate test), and ankle joint angle were measured. The speed during the start phase (passing time for5.0 m) of the 50 m kick showed significant correlation with the average and peak leg power assessed using the Wingate test. Furthermore, the 50 m kick speed showed significant and very high correlation only with ankle joint angle. The results clearly indicate that the relationship between kick speed and ankle joint flexibility is stronger than that between kick speed and leg power. Therefore, increasing the kick speed will effectively improve ankle joint flexibility.departmental bulletin pape

Notes on the Specificity of the English Demonstrative that

    Get PDF
The Present-day English demonstratives that and this derive from the Old English demonstratives se and þes respectively. In the history of the English language the Old English þes relatively simply developed into the Modern English this where as the Old English se extended its grammatical functions in the course of development. For example, se produced the definite article the and was diverted to a relative and a conjunction. These extended functions result from the definiteness and distant reference that the word involves.departmental bulletin pape

Experimental Study on Structural Performance of Precast Reinforced Concrete Core Wall with a Small Quantity of Horizontal Tied Rebars

    Get PDF
In the core wall system in high-rise buildings, the four L-shaped core walls at the center effectively reduce seismic vibration. On the other hand, precast core walls are effective for construction because they can be built more quickly than cast-in-place core walls. In this study, a lateral loading test was conducted on a wall column simulating the corner and the area near the corner of an L-shaped core wall with a small quantity of horizontal tied rebars. The wall column was divided into precast columns, and horizontal tied rebars were concentrated at the second and third floor levels, and the mid height level of the first story. Based on the results of lateral loading tests, the structural performance of the wall column with a small quantity of horizontal tied rebars was clarified.departmental bulletin pape
