Relationship between Tire Inflation Pressure and Turning Performance of Formula-style Small Race Cars
Get PDFThe performance of tires and suspensions is an important factor that influences the turning characteristic of a car. Moreover, it requires great effort to decide the optimal settings of those factors relating to the turning characteristic. In this research, driving tests were conducted with a formula-styled small race car to confirm the influence on the turning performance caused by the change in the tire inflation pressure and the damping force of its shock absorber. As a result, appropriate tire inflation pressure for running the race cars which weighted around 300kg on dry roads was found. In addition, it was confirmed the turning speed was influenced by the change in the damping force of the shock absorber.departmental bulletin pape
Development of the Web Application for Optimization of Rainwater Harvesting System

The efficiency of the rainwater harvesting system changes by the precipitation patterns of the area and water usage patterns. However, small-scale rainwater harvesting systems are installed without consideration of the system operation efficiency. In this research, a web application for optimization of rainwater harvesting system was developed. This web application can perform the rainwater harvesting system operation simulation which considers the precipitation and water use patterns of all areas of Japan. An Optimum Repair Plan for Maintenance of Existing Bridges
Get PDFRecently, the guideline for periodic bridge inspection was re-established with 4 rating evaluation for maintenance immediacy of action by MLIT. The plan extending bridge service life, which has been formulated with 5 rating evaluation since 2007 in Fukui prefecture, needs to re-formulate in accordance with the guideline. Development of effective evaluation system for bridge management corresponding to the guideline is awaited for this purpose expectantly. In this study, a decision-making system for bridge repair plan is developed by using the bridge inspection data of Echizen city. The revised deterioration transfer curves for slab and abutment are introduced for three classifications of rapid, standard and slow deterioration members. The most economical repair plan is determined by comparing the life cycle costs for nine repair conditions, in which the rating limits for preventive repair are assumed as2.0,2.5 and 3.0 for slab, girder and abutment, respectively. Resonance Two-Photon Ionization of Propoxur in Cyclodextrin Aqueous Solution
Get PDFResonance two-photon ionization (TPI) of Propoxur (o-isopropoxyphenyl methylcarbamate : MC), a typical agricultural chemical was demonstrated using 266-nm laser flash photolysis (LFP) technique in the presence of cyclodextrins (CDs) in aqueous solution. The formation of the MC/CDs inclusion complex was studied by MM2 calculations. Ionization of MC within the laser flash (5 ns) produced a water solvated electron. The electron was generated by two-photon excitation by means of simultaneous irradiation from a266-nm laser. The ionization quantum yield (Φion) obtained by LFP in the presence ofα-, β-and γ-CD were 0.35±0.02%, 0.15±0.01%and 0.61±0.01%, respectively, and it depended on the properties of the complexes with CDs. These behaviors suggest that the useful resonance two-photon ionization results from the complexes of MC and α-CD, β-CD and γ-CD, respectively. The Φion of MC in the presence of CDs (1.0×10-2M) is dependent on the stabilization energy of solvation. In addition, Φion of MC in the presence of CDs (1.0×10-3M) was dependent on the τ. This study suggests photolysis of agricultural chemicals in the presence of CDs in aqueous solvent using two-photon ionization of UV light irradiation.departmental bulletin pape

Now it is required to measure CO2emissions in China, and it is also necessary to measure CO2emissions at the provinces stage. Specifically, we estimate Liaoning's CO2emissions as a traditional heavy industry base. Results are as follows: In the Liaoning Province, the total CO2emissions are 813.8 million tons. And the industries with many CO2emissions are electric power industry and supplying heat industry. Heavy Industry such as iron, coal, metal products accounts for more than 80% of the province total emissions. From the viewpoint of sustainable environmental policy, it is important to change the energy input structure and improve efficiency of the input energy for coal industry and so on. A Theoretical Approach to Dynamical Diffraction of X-rays in the Laue Case with the Green's Function Method
Get PDFX-ray dynamical diffraction for the Laue case is treated theoretically as an application of the theory for a largely distorted crystal using the Green's function method given by the previous report. In the Laue case, the transmitted and the diffracted waves in the crystal are expressed as the integrals with the kernels of the transmitted and diffracted wave components of the Green's function over the crystal surface. In the case of a perfect crystal, the Green's function components are analytically obtained and the waves in the crystal are expressed using the analytical forms of the Green's function. The result shows the analytical forms of the waves are essentially three-dimensional with a divergent wave image like a spherical wave, which are different from those given by Takagi's theory, and, however, are reducible to those.departmental bulletin pape
Educational Practice Using ArcGIS

One is the class of Computing Exercise IVin Department of Industrial Business and Engineering in Fukui University of Technology, and another is the class of Environment Remote Sensing in Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering. In the former class, GIS (Geographic Information System) and CAD (Computer Aided Design) are mainly studied in order to include the contents which agree with the high school curriculum guidelines "Industry" of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and two written proposals are made as the applications of GIS and CAD to business fields. ArcGIS as GIS software and AutoCAD as CAD software are used. In the latter class, ArcGIS is used for the image processing and measurement by the satellite remote sensing, and natural disasters (2011 eastern Japan great earthquake, 2004 Fukui heavy rainfall), air pollution, global warming, etc. are studied. The used satellite data are Landsat5, Landsat7, Landsat8, Aster, Alos and MODIS. In both classes, good educational results are obtained.departmental bulletin pape

A Research of Detecting Handwriting Period for Aerial Handwritten Character Recognition
Get PDFThis paper describes a method to recognize a character handwritten in the air. This recognition method uses the motion direction instead of positions of the device. It also doesn't use the information of pen-up and pen-down. It selects and orders character candidates with DP (dynamic programming) matching. We prototyped a handwritten character recognition system that detect handwriting period by hand-open and hand-close. This system worked well, but it was very tired that we try input character speedy. In this time, we study a method of auto handwriting period detection instead of hand-open and hand-close. We achieved correct recognition rate about 80% for categories of Hiragana characters by using auto handwriting period detection.departmental bulletin pape
