    『北庄四ツ割図』の解読

    福井城は本丸を中心に二ノ丸や三ノ丸の郭が同心円状に配され、その間に五重の堀が廻る環郭式の縄張をもっている。武家地は三重目の堀の外側に配され、それらを取り囲むように町人地は、城下の西方から北方にかけての周縁部および橋南の北陸街道沿いにみられる。町人地の中心は、足羽川に架かる九十九橋の北詰から北進す る北陸街道が東に折れる清源寺町から松本町までの城下西部で、それに直交し郭内へ向う10 筋の通り沿いにも町人地が集中している。これまで福井城下の町人地に関しては、玉置伸俉・押谷茂敏氏の「『御城下四ツ割之図』からみた福井藩町方屋敷地について」がみられる程度である。また、現存する城下絵図の多くは、城郭内や武家地は屋敷割や居住者名、敷地の寸法まで詳細に記されているが、町屋敷に関してはこれらの記載はまったくみられない。その中で唯一、町人地の様相がわかるのが、現在『松平文庫』に所蔵されている史料1『北庄四ツ割図』(以下、『四ツ割図』)である。本研究は史料1 を用いて、城下西部の町人地における町割や屋敷割および町屋敷の規模を解読し、福井城下における江戸初期の町人地の形態を考察する。本稿はその第1 報として、『四ツ割図』を紹介し、図に示されている町割と屋敷割を書き起こすとともに、各町屋敷の居住者名、表間口と奥行の間数および坪数を提示する。departmental bulletin pape

    Correlation between Fitness Levels/ Body Fat/ Blood Lipids/ HbA1c and Blood Pressure in Middle-aged and Elderly Men and Women

    The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between fitness levels, body fat, blood lipids, hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) and blood pressure in middle-aged and elderly men and women. Three hundred and sixty one individuals, 116 men and 245 women, volunteered to be subjects in this study. Informed consent was obtained from all of the subjects by explaining the purpose and the methods of this study. The variables of this study were: grip strength, open-eyes foot-balance, sit-ups, trunk flexion in sitting position, toe strength, total cholesterol (TC), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), triglyceride (TG) and HbA1c,percent body fat (%Fat) and systolic and diastolic blood pressures. According to this study, toe strength values are positively correlated with grip strength and open-eyes foot-balance in almost all age groups. Significant interrelationships between TC, HDL-C, LDL-C, TG, HbA1c and systolic and diastolic blood pressure values can be seen.departmental bulletin pape

    Fundamental Study of Magnetic Separation Method for Radioactive Contaminant

    Since the accident that happened in The Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, a scattered radiological decontamination and decommissioning technology are attracting a lot of attention. The removal of radioactive crud in the nuclear power plant will become one of the more important elemental technologies of the decommissioning from now on. However, the effective technique to remove the crud which is applicable at high-temperature area around the nuclear power plant does not exist. Therefore, we focused on the magnetic property of the target cruds which are paramagnetic substance and high gradient magnetic separation (HGMS) was proposed as a nuclear power plant crud removal method.     Studies of Web Server Implementation and Navigation System for Autonomous Proximity Operations of the Weeding Robot “TAMBA"

    Increased public interest in food safety and clean agriculture (e.g., ecological agriculture, organic culture and agrochemical-free cultivation) is driving a production system change from dependence on and use of agrochemicals toward their elimination. However, this raises a huge time- and labor-consuming problem with weeds. The weeding robot “TAMBA" decreases weeds in paddy fields without resorting to herbicides. "TAMBA" autonomously travels while avoiding rice plant rootstocks. Final goal is to runs on schedule, return to the docking station and recharge like “ROOMBA". In this time, we installed WebIOPi and set up Web Server on the Raspberry Pi in order to control and monitor the robot “TAMBA" in any browser under any operating system.     Experimental Study on Structural Performance of Precast Reinforced Concrete Core Wall under Action of Low Axial Load

    In the core wall system in high-rise buildings, the four L-shaped core walls at the center effectively reduce seismic vibration. On the other hand, precast core walls are effective for construction because they can be built more quickly than cast-in-place core walls. In this study, a lateral loading test was conducted on a wall column simulating the corner and the area near the corner of an L-shaped core wall under the action of low axial load. The wall column was divided into precast columns, and horizontal tied rebars were concentrated at the second and third floor levels, and the mid height level of the first story. Based on the results of lateral loading tests, the structural performance of the wall column under the action of low axial loadwas clarified.departmental bulletin pape

    Study of Direct Heating Defrost for Plate-finned Tube Heat Exchanger with an Induction Heating

    The defrost system with the induction heating have been proposed to be applied to the air conditioner. This induction heating system is made of a swirled coil and a high frequency inverter, when this coil is conducted 30kHz AC current, the plate finned tube type heat exchanger was heated by the electro and magnet phenomena. From the practical point of this defrost system, at first, the analysis of the pressure drop of coil and heat exchanger was conducted to evaluate, secondary, the measurement of impedance and the induction heating defrost test were conducted to investigate the heating efficiency and the defrost time. Thus, it is found that the heat exchanger was uniformly heated and the frost of 170g on the surface of that were melted by the induction heating for 30 min.     Investigation of Microorganisms in Rainwater Tanks(Analytical Methods for Microorganisms and Their Identification)

    Storage of rainwater in tanks has been recognized to be useful for sustainable supply of water. Especially, heavy rains are frequently caused by typhoons in Japan. Although rainwater is clean when it is newly formed, little information has been obtained about the quality of rainwater during its storage in water tanks. Investigation of microorganisms in the tank is important in using the water for toilet flush, shower, drinking water, and so on if possible. In the current study, as the first trial, we collected six samples stored in two connected rainwater tanks in Higashi-ago Elementary School, Fukui, Japan, and then investigated microorganisms in each sample. We could finally identify six kinds of microorganisms based on their rDNA sequences. We also measured total numbers of bacteria in each fraction.departmental bulletin pape

    Development and Operation of an Urban Flood Mitigation System Using IoT

    In this research, we developed an urban flood mitigation system that makes use of IoT. This system uses the prediction results of high-resolution precipitation nowcasts by the Japan Meteorological Agency. As a result, before the heavy rain begins, the water level in rainwater reservoirs can be controlled to relieve floods. Since a computer automatically controls this system, performance as a flood mitigation system is maximized. In this paper, we introduce the urban flood mitigation system developed by the authors.     The Relationship between Delayed Response to Stimuli and Cognitive Function in Elderly Women

    This study aimed to investigate whether delayed response in a stimulus–response test is associated with a decline in cognitive function. The subjects were 39 elderly women aged 〓75 years. Five trials of stimulus–response time measurement (rock/paper/scissors and draw/win/lose conditions) were conducted. The following criteria were set to classify the results on the basis of response time measurements. When an attempt exceeded the reference value, it was classified as a delayed response to the stimulus. Subjects who did not exhibit any delay in the five attempts were placed in the normal group and those who exhibited one or more delay were placed in the delay group. The results of the two groups were compared with respect to the MoCA scores (maximum, 30 points). Under the “draw" condition, there was a significant difference in cognitive functional assessment results between the two groups. In conclusion, the study results suggest that delayed responses to stimuli reflected a decline in the cognitive function of elderly women.departmental bulletin pape

    Fundamental Study on Improved Phosphorus Recovery from Sewage Sludge Incinerated Ash

    In this study, improved methods of acid extraction and alkali extraction were proposed and examined for efficient recovery of phosphorus from sewage sludge incinerated ash. In the acid extraction method, iron phosphate was chosen to precipitate phosphate from the acid extraction solution, and EDTA was added to keep heavy metals soluble. The experimental results showed that 91-100% of phosphorus was recovered as iron phosphate. Also, the EDTA addition decreased the heavy metal content in the precipitate, but its effect appears to be limited. In the alkali extraction method, 55% of phosphorus was extracted by the conventional method using 0.1M NaOH at 70oC. Carbon dioxide was applied to the alkali treated ash, and dissolved 24% of phosphorus. Thus, phosphorus recovery was increased to a total of 79% from the sewage sludge incinerated ash by the improved alkali method.departmental bulletin pape
