Effects on Diesel Engine Operation Characteristics of Mixed Fuel of Bio Fuel and Gas Oil
BDF (Bio Diesel Fuel) is a diesel fuel made from vegetable oil and waste edible oil as raw materials. BDF containing a lot of oxygen promotes the combustion of diesel engines: hence, improvements in thermal efficiency can be expected. In other words, an increase in NOX concentration in the exhaust gas is also expected. However, previous research has found that while gas oil and BDF have different fuel properties, use of these under operating conditions with diesel engines eliminates the drastic differences in thermal efficiency and exhaust gas characteristics. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to grasp the effects of oxygen in fuel in the combustion process of diesel engines. To this end, engine performance testing using mixed fuels of BDF and gas oil with different oxygen content rates was performed. The results clarified that using fuel with a moderate mix of BDF and gas oil improves the operation characteristics of the diesel engine compared to using BDF alone.departmental bulletin pape
Determination of Cadmium in a Pet Food by Pressure Acid Decomposition / Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrometry
In the present study, we attempted to determine trace cadmium in a dry-type cat food by using a method combining pressure acid decomposition and graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. Carbon soot generated from the remaining organic matter caused a large background absorption at the atomization in the graphite furnace. The background was effectively suppressed by flowing a small amount of argon, which is the purge gas to prevent exhaustion and deterioration of the graphite furnace, also during the atomization. The average of the quantitative values of cadmium obtained by three times of analyses was 0.85 μg g?1, and the relative standard deviation was 3.5%.0 The quantitative value decreased to ca. 7036626521351nly by raising the sample decomposition temperature by 10℃. This result showed that the careful consideration was required to set the conditions of the samples decomposition. For further development of the present study, it is also necessary to verify the accuracy of the proposed method by using certified reference materials for food analysis.departmental bulletin pape
Effects of a More Active Everyday Lifestyle upon Blood Lipids, HbA1c and Various Fitness Levels in Middle-aged and Elderly Men and Women
The purpose of this study is to clarify the effects of a more active everyday lifestyle upon blood lipids, hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) and various fitness levels. Three hundred and sixty one individuals, 116 men and 245 women, living in Katsuyama City, Fukui Pref., volunteered to be subjects in this study. Among all of the subjects, the data of the 30men and 76women who participated in both the pre-and the post-tests were analyzed in this study.As results of this study, it was found that a more active everyday lifestyle for 5 months, while attending supplementary practical lectures, can improve blood lipids and various fitness levels in middle-aged and elderly individuals even if they do not attempt to maintain a specific exercise regimen.This study was orally presented at the 16thJapaneseand Korean Health Education Symposium and at the 63rdJapanese Conference of Education and Health Science held on August 23, 2015 in Kwansei Gakuin University.departmental bulletin pape
Observation of Volcanic Activity in Nishinoshima by Using Satellite Remote Sensing
Nishinoshima is a small desert island in the Pacific, and is located in 27d 14m 49s north latitude and 140d 52m 28s east longitude. Nishinoshima began to erupt on November 20, 2013, and the eruptions ceased by November 2015. New eruptions occurred on April 20, 2017, and ceased by August 2017. As of January 2018, the island is about 2.95 km2 in size and about 160 m in height. In this paper, true-color images (R,G,B=bands4,3,2), high-temperature-detected natural-color images (R,G,B=bands6,5,4)and band 10-temperature images are made by using Landsat-8 data from 2013 to 2017, and volcanic activities in Nishinoshima are observed. In the high-temperature-detected natural-color image, the lava flow is indicated clearly in red. A night image (R,G,B=bands10,7,6) is also shown.departmental bulletin pape
Rethinking the Preposition along and its Deleted Objects -Is `The man walked along the river' an Illogical Expression?-
According to a previous study, the sentence `The man walked along the river' is semantically anomalous for some native speakers of English. The study states that the reason that the sentence is semantically anomalous is that the meaning of the sentence is nearly the same as that of `The man walked on the river'. Therefore, the study states that as `The man walked along the river' is illogical, it must be derived from `The man walked along the bank of the river' or `The man walked along the path by/close to the river'. However, we point out that the preposition along is a one-dimensional preposition and the preposition on in `The man walked on the river' is a two-dimensional preposition, so the events that the two sentences, `The man walked along the river' and `The man walked on the river', represent are completely different, and we argue that the sentence `The man walked along the river' is not illogical.departmental bulletin pape
Studies on the Comparison between DP Matching and HMM for Aerial Handwritten Hiragana Character Recognition
This paper presents a method to recognize a character handwritten in the air. We had prototyped an aerial handwritten hiragana character recognition system that detect single character period by hovering in the air using DP (dynamic programming) matching. In this time, we investigate an aerial handwritten character recognition system using Hidden Markov Model (HMM). HMM theory is an extension of the Markov Model process. It has found uses in such areas as speech recognition, target tracking and word recognition. We implemented HMM using Baum?Welch algorithm. The Baum?Welch algorithm uses the well known EM algorithm to find the maximum likelihood estimate of the parameters of a hidden Markov model given a set of observed feature vectors. Two-Photon Ionization of Diarylethene by Using Two-Laser Irradiation
Two-photon ionization of diarylethene 1,2-bis(2-methylbenzo[b]thiophen-3-yl)-3,3,4,4,5,5-hexafluorocyclopentene (DEph) in the presence of cyclodextrin (CD) (DEph/CD) was investigated by using 355-nm laser pulse and simultaneous irradiation with 355- and 532-nm laser pulses (355*532-nm). Additionally, photoionization efficiency of DEph/CD was compared with the previous results obtained by using 266-nm laser pulse and simultaneous irradiation with 266- and 532-nm laser pulses (266*532-nm). The ionization quantum yield (Φion) of DEph/CD, which was obtained by using 355-nm laser pulse, was increased by restraint of cyclization reaction resulting from incorporation of DEph into CD. The ionization yield (Υion) obtained using 355*532-nm laser pulse irradiation was higher than that measured under 355-nm laser pulse irradiation and this suggested that photoionization of DEph proceeded through stepwise excitation by the 355- and 532-nm laser pulses. Additionally, Φion and Υion of DEph/CD was different compared with the previous results obtained by using 266-nm laser pulse and 266*532-nm laser pulses, respectively. It was suggested that the different Φion and Υion attributed to the different molar absorption coefficient of singlet excited state of DEph at 266 and 355 nm. Ohara village is a mountain village of the special heavy snowfall area in the valleys of the Ishikawa prefectural border. The inhabitants are limit villages of two people (as for the village population is alone). In this paper old house restoration and event activity in Ohara village since 2006. The Ohara ECO project intended to keep village scenery, and to aim at the continuation of the Ohara village. It is important to make the exchange population increased for Obara village continuation. Studies on the Enhancement and Control of Photoreaction of Organic Compounds Encapsulated by Cyclodextrins
福井工業大学大学院工学研究科博士(工学)光技術は材料加工、情報通信、ライフサイエンスなど幅広い分野に応用されており、21世紀の基盤技術として重要な役割を果たしている。また、地球温暖化や資源枯渇などの環境・エネルギー問題解決の観点からも光技術は重要視されており、低炭素社会およびサステナブル社会の実現に向けて、レーザーを用いた環境センシングや光エネルギー変換(人工光合成・太陽電池)などの研究がなされている。その中で、軽量、フレキシブル、材料となる有機化合物の高い設計自由度などの利点を有する有機光エレクトロニクスデバイスや光照射によって機械的な動きを起こす光駆動分子マシンは次世代エレクトロニクスおよび産業革命におけるキーテクノロジーとして期待されている。有機光エレクトロニクスデバイスにおいては、実用展開に向けて有機系太陽電池、有機電界効果トランジスタ、有機光メモリーなどの研究が進められており、外部刺激応答の機能を持ったデバイスや単一分子から構成されるデバイス(分子エレクトロニクスデバイス)の創出も検討されている。代表的な有機光エレクトロニクスデバイスである有機エレクトロルミネッセンス(OLED)においては、高効率フラットパネルディスプレイとしてテレビやスマートフォンなどへの搭載に至っている。また、光駆動分子マシンにおいては光異性化分子を駆動部位に用いた「モーター」や「アクチュエータ」などが創出されている。しかしながら、大部分の有機光エレクトロニクスデバイスは、無機材料で作製される光エレクトロニクスデバイスと比較して駆動寿命や性能面などにおいて劣っている点が多く残っている。また、光駆動分子マシンは、「機械」としては基本的な段階であり、部品に相当する機能を示す光駆動分子マシンが大部分である。このような状況下において、ブレイクスルーを起こすためには、優れたキャリア(電子と正孔)移動度や安定性を示す新規な有機材料の開発、大環状化合物のナノスケール空間への取り込み(包接)を利用した有機材料の新たな機能発現、有機材料の光物性評価や光反応ダイナミクスの解明、分子配列制御など分子レベルからの基礎的な研究が必要不可欠である。また、将来的には環境に配慮したデバイス(グリーンデバイス)開発の観点から、安価で環境負荷の小さい有機材料の利用なども重要となると考えられる。 このような背景の下、本研究では大環状化合物の1つであるシクロデキストリン(CD)の包接効果および有機化合物の光反応に焦点を当て、研究を進めることにした。doctoral thesi
On the Inflence of "Fukui Prefectural Children's Science Hall" on User Consciousness
In this research, focusing on the cosmos and starry sky as regional resources, we aim to explore the influence of "Fukui Science Museum for Children" on the surrounding areas. In order to grasp the possibilities as regional resources, we designed and analyzed questionnaires for facility users. The main results are as follows: 1) The percentage of answer “use again" was very high (94%). Furthermore, the percentage of users recognizing that the facility has a positive influence on the surrounding area was also high. 2) After using the facility, knowledge of the cosmos and starry sky has deepened. Therefore, the users become more interested in the cosmos and starry sky. 3) About 9036626521351f respondents do not recognize the cosmos and starry sky as regional resources of Fukui. In Fukui, despite the existence of "facilities related to the cosmos" and "areas enjoying starry sky", they are not recognized as a regional resource at present.departmental bulletin pape
