Effect of Axial Load on Vertical Joint of Precast Reinforced Concrete Core Wall with Horizontal Tied Rebars
Precast core walls in high-rise buildings are effective for construction because they can be built more quickly than cast-in-place core walls. In this study, lateral loading test results were analyzed on wall columns simulating the corner and the area near the corner of an L-shaped core wall with horizontal tied rebars. The specimen consisted of four square-section precast columns. The vertical joints between the precast columns were grouted with high-strength mortar. Each precast column had cotters at the vertical joint, and horizontal tied rebars were concentrated at the second and third floor levels, and the mid height level of the first story. Based on the results of lateral loading tests, the effect of axial load on vertical joint was clarified.departmental bulletin pape
Determination of Arsenic in a Pet Food by Acid Circulation Decomposition / Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrometry
In the present study, we attempted to determine trace arsenic (As) in a dry-type cat food by using a method combining acid circulation decomposition (ACD) and graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GF-AAS). Since the decomposition container of an ACD device is a semi-sealed type, the presence or absence of volatilization of As during decomposition was confirmed by an addition recovery experiment. Although there was no volatilization during decomposition, it was suggested that As was lost due to bumping during the drying and ashing stages of the GF-AAS apparatus. Loss could be suppressed by changing the temperature program of GF-AAS and slowly drying and ashing. However, the peak appearance time was different between the sample and the standard solution, and it was difficult to quantify by the usual calibration curve method. Therefore, the standard addition method was applied. The appearance time of the peak top was the same at all concentrations, and it was found that the standard addition method is effective when the signal behavior differs between the sample and the standard solution. The determination was tried several times by the standard addition method, but the concentration of As in the sample was below the lower limit of determination (10 ppb) of GF-AAS. It was found that the sample used in the present study contained almost no As and was below the standard value (15 µg/g) of the Pet Food Safety Law.departmental bulletin pape
Age-related differences in the prevalence of hypertension, dyslipidemia, and diabetes mellitus in Fukui prefecture, Japan
Although the risk of lifestyle-related diseases increases with aging, the combination of various related diseases may differ according to age and sex. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of hypertension, dyslipidemia, and diabetes mellitus and verify age-related differences in each sex. The study patients included 57,293 males and 61,403 females, aged 35–73 years. The prevalence in each sex was calculated with respect to age group (8 ways: every 5 years from age 35) and disease status (8 ways: (〓C〓)〓). The results of independence tests revealed that there was a significant age difference in the disease status for both males and females. In addition, the results of multiple comparison tests showed that the disease status differed in all age groups. Regarding the prevalence for each disease, males were more prone to have diabetes mellitus and females were more prone to have hypertension than other diseases. On the other hand, regarding the prevalence of combined diseases, the combination of hypertension and diabetes mellitus tended to be more prevalent than other combinations in both sexes. In both males and females, the proportion of patients free from all three diseases gradually decreased from the age of late 30s to late 50s.departmental bulletin pape
Visual Expression and Production Process of the Fukui City PR Film "out of the blue"
The Public Relations Division of Fukui City has established the "Real Localism" project in 2020 with the aim of fostering civic pride by making PR films for inner branding. The aim of this project is to produce films to promote the attractiveness of Fukui City. Scenarios were open to the public, and three prize-winning works were selected. Thereafter, students of three universities in Fukui City (University of Fukui, Jinai Woman's College, and Fukui University of Technology) were asked to make films of all of them. This paper describes the production process and the visual expression of the film, "out of the blue", directed by the first author.departmental bulletin pape

Does changing the posture affect the kayak player's rowing power performance?
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of different postures on the rowing power performance of kayak players. The subjects of this study were 14 male college kayak athletes(age : 19.6±1.0year, height : 174.7±4.9cm, weight: 68.6±5.6kg). For all subjects, measurement of rowing power during starting motion was carried out on three postural conditions (A: stoop, B: forward lean, C: straight posture). According to the one-way repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA; posture), a statistically significant difference was observed on posture factor, and rowing power of A type was less than B and C type. There was no significant difference in the maximum power arrival time between all posture conditions. It has been proved that the stoop posture is not suitable for the kayak's starting action.departmental bulletin pape

We herein report current progress of the research project, called “Gibier", in which we investigated various items related to gibier such as classical swine fever (CSF),its power of branding, processing facilities, and the model regions in Japan. In2019, we attend to nationwide congress of gibier and we exchanged information with authorized people in this field. Through investigating food processing of gibier and tasting various kinds of gibier food products, we concluded that making food manufacturing as well as recipes using various food processing technologies are very important for supplying safe and tasty gibier food.departmental bulletin pape
Study on Cultured Meat Technology as an Advanced Livestock Technology
Cultured meat technologies have been extensively investigated in food technology and tissue engineering fields, because they could reduce environmental loads, such as greenhouse gas emissions and deforestation for expanding farm area. Previously, the cultured meats have been produced by culturing animal muscle cells, which could be directly available from fresh meats and obtained by myogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells. The constructing costs and tastes for the cultured meats have been improved by recent research and developments, whereas their textures, which are physical tastes related to mechanical properties and hierarchical structures of cultured meats, have not been reproduced by any cultured meat technologies. In this study, we have investigated the method for controlling the texture of cultured meats by regulating the rheological properties and hierarchical structures. To construct the cultured meats, we have tried two methods: one is a template scaffold method with multichannel collagen hydrogels (MCCG) which has multichannel structures and collagen fiber alignments, another one is a magnetic field-induced orientation of myoblasts and ECMs. By using the former method, we have reproduced muscle fiber alignments and extracellular matrix (ECM) structures of skeletal muscle tissues. In contrast, the latter method requires further researches and developments for controlling the rheological properties and hierarchical structures of cultured meats.departmental bulletin pape
The Student Guidance Office 2019 Annual Report
This article reported statistics and some activities in the student guidance office as 2019annual report. The number of counseling increased from last year.About2536626141351f the students who came to the student guidance office for the first time in 2019 took the opportunity afforded by screening interview using UPI to do. Since above 40 0f the complaints which student bring to counseling were about learning problems, counselors needed to collaborate closely with faculty to support the students. Although the number of the students who spend outside classroom hours at free space in the student guidance office decreased, the students taught each other there and the free space functioned as a place for some students to play a role as peer supporter.departmental bulletin pape
The Semantics of the Verb rob - Metaphorical Extensions of the rob Construction and Semantic Roles of the Arguments -
The verb rob entails that the robbed person is seriously negatively affected, which is the kernel sense of the verb. Therefore, the basic structure of the rob construction is, for example, `Jesse robbed the rich of a million dollars'. From this basic structure, sentences like `He robbed me of my childhood' or `Technical problems apparently robbed the project of success' are derived as a result of metaphorical extensions. In the latter sentence, the kernel sense of the verb must be completely lost. It is well-known that rob is not an alternate verb, that is to say, `*Jesse robbed a million dollars from the rich' is ungrammatical. In COCA, however, we can find some examples of the `NPSUB rob NPOBJ from NPOBL' construction, such as `The popular highprotein diets rob calcium from bones'. This construction focuses on `a transfer of things', so that in the construction the verb takes `Mover' as the direct object and the preposition from instead of of is selected to explicitly show the starting point of the transfer.departmental bulletin pape
