Utilizing Pre- and Post-assessments in an EFL Classroom I: Effects of Grammar/Vocabulary Assessments on Student Confidence and Motivation
Get PDFapplication/pdfDuring the spring semester, an action research study examining background student knowledge of specific grammar and vocabulary points using pre- and post-assessments was conducted by the authors/instructors (herein authors). Initially the aim of these assessments was formative; to inform the authors of students' background knowledge, allowing them to modify teaching plans. However, the focus was shifted away from formative towards student self assessment and reflection, allowing students to self-diagnose and evaluate their future learning needs, with the goal of positively influencing confidence and motivation. This paper will focus on primarily the modified portion of the study-covering a literature review, the assessment methodology and outcomes, and future modifications to be taken in the following semester. The results for this limited study of only 20 students reveals that there does seem to be a correlation between the self-awareness that students gain from pre- and post-assessments and their confidence and motivation. Effects of conflict-coping strategies on marital quality : Using the Actor-Partner Interdependence Model
Get PDFapplication/pdf本研究では、夫あるいは妻の個人内の影響過程、および夫と妻の間の相互影響過程に注目し、行為者 - パートナー相互依存モデル（APIM）を用いて、夫と妻が直面した葛藤、用いた葛藤対処方略、彼らの結婚生活の質の間の関係を検討した。342組の台湾人夫婦を対象とし、夫婦間葛藤の程度、葛藤対処方略（協調的話し合い、沈黙・冷戦、回避・我慢、非難・口喧嘩、暴力・不満表出、第三者調停依頼、懐柔・哀願の7つの一次因子、および対話、回避、攻撃の3つの二次因子）、および結婚生活の質（充実度と後悔度の2側面）を測定した。その結果、夫婦間葛藤、攻撃方略、および結婚の室は夫婦間で有意に異なっていた。APIMの分析結果から、対話方略は行為者自身と配偶者の結婚の質に対し直接的影響と媒介的影響を及ぼし、対話方略には行為者効果とパートナー効果が存在することを解明した。そして、回避方略と攻撃方略は個人内でのみ結婚の質に対し直接的影響と媒介的影響を及ぼし、行為者効果のみが存在することを明らかにした。また、APIMにおけるカップル志向モデルや社会的比較モデルの妥当性も実証した。journal articl

Get PDFapplication/pdf本研究は、日本的な承諾抵抗方略尺度の作成に成功した研究から示唆を得て、日本的な承諾獲得方略尺度の作成を目的とした。214人の女子大学生を調査対象とし、47項目の承諾獲得方策の使用度を測定した。承諾獲得方策の使用度に関する因子分析の結果、威圧・脅迫因子、自己卑下・哀願因子、道徳的規範強調因子、配慮・丁重因子、負債感喚起・駆け引き因子の5因子が抽出された。5因子31項目の承諾獲得方略尺度を作成した。この尺度に、4つの単項目（単純依頼、理由提示、沈黙・察し、ほのめかしの4個の承諾獲得方策）を加えた拡張的承諾獲得方略尺度（5因子31項目+4項目）の使用を提案した。自己卑下・哀願方略は日本的な承諾獲得方略であり、沈黙・察し方策とほのめかし方策は日本的承諾獲得方策であると解釈された。journal articl
