Varia 2
Arbetarlitteratur bortom kanon: Nordiska perspektiv
Eating Cultures in Children’s Literature: National, International and Transnational Perspectives
Eating Cultures in Children’s Literature – National, International and Transnational Perspectives investigates how the child is positioned as the consumer/eater of cultural food. It also highlights some ingredients that are to be found on more than one national menu, so to speak. We interrogate what it means to serve a “cultural meal” to a young person, identifying the discourses that are inscribed in the recipe. By analyzing authorial or translational choices, the different chapters explore the thematic and ideological roots of the stories that authors, illustrators and translators offer their young readers. The essays in this collection are organized around three themes in children’s cultural and literary texts about food and eating. In the first section, the political dimensions of food narratives are explored. Food’s power to define “us” versus “them” is key to understanding food narratives in their national and political contexts. The second part is dedicated to inter/national and transnational nightmares, specifically narratives addressing the supreme threat lurking in young people’s literature: being eaten. Finally, the collection features a section on food fantasies in young people’s narratives, and addresses the disconcerting capability of food to transform, translate, transcend and become abundantly surreal, without ever losing the power to marvel and satiate, even when it conveys complex concepts and ideas.Enjoy

Dynamical Modeling of Physiology
Human physiology is the study of how organisms, organ systems, and individual organs function under normal circumstances. As a consequence of its paramount importance to medicine, physiology has been studied since ancient times, but the models studied in this book follow the tradition of modern physiology pioneered by Claude Bernard in the mid 1800s.The focus of the book lies on how dynamical mechanisms and phenomena in physiology can be understood and studied using mathematical modeling. Each chapter commences with the introduction of a well-established physiological model. Although these models are collected from seemingly disparate areas such as hemodynamics, pharmacology, and biomechanics, it quickly becomes apparent how theory and methods surrounding differential equations and dynamical systems constitutes a fabric that unites all the studied models. Both nonlinear and linear models are treated. Simulation of dynamical models through numerical integration is presented, and for linear models it is shown how responses can be obtained both in the time and ``frequency\u27\u27 (Laplace) domains. The powerful concept of feedback is introduced, and the book serves as an excellent spring board for studying cyber-physical ``closed-loop\u27\u27 systems in medicine.
The intended audience is primarily undergraduate biomedical engineering students

Varia 1
The texts included in Varia 1 are related to the four volumes published by Peter Lang Verlag, and particularly to Wits and Interpretation (Berlin 2023).
The volume brings a full report on an experimental investigation studying the relationship between notated rhythm/meter and performance in Bach melodies, and essays discussing three important aspects of musical structure – anticipation, symmetry, and proprioceptive properties. Interpretational issues make up the core in analyses of works by Beethoven, Debussy, Chopin, Mozart, and Bach. The final chapter traces the musical form of a pioneer work of abstract film
